Sourav Ganguly
by Amalendu Debroy on Oct 11, 2008 12:19 AM  | Hide replies

Fantastic Rajaneesh to touch upon the different phase of an unsung hero. I think you missed another great Azharuddin who also tried his level best to pull down Sourav. I still remember how Azharuddin meticulously got Sourav run out at 99 when he was about to complete his fourth century in a row after debut. Greg Chappel who is never given any importance by Cricket Australia got away with his dirty politics because this is India. Another fellow Rajaneesh you missed is Vengsarkar who is barking a lot these days. Rahul Dravid forgot the fact that he would have never made it into the ODI team but for Sourav who pushed him in as a wicketkeeper.Regarding Dhoni we would like to see what percentage of Sourav'sachievements he can really get by the end of his career. Not a single worth mentioning Test knock is yet to come from Dhoni. Dhoni forgot very quickly that it was Sourav who picked him up from nowhere. Just to mention Sourav's contribution to Indian cricket we are seeing the likes of Yuvi, Bhaji, Shewag, Zahaeer,Dhoni,Irfan, Kaif to name a few. He nurtured these youngster to give their best shielding them from the sharks of cricket. Hats off to Aishwariya who complimented Dada the other day and reminded all Indians to know how to celebrate their heroes. However, our all time great Kapil and Gavaskar always lauded the feats of Sourav. And thats enough.

Stop spreading lies
1.Azhar got ganguly run out on 99?Dude when was that?Dada's scores in his first 7 tests were 131,136,48,66,21,6,0,39,41,16,0,23,30
2.Dhoni was picked by Dada- Wrong again.Dhoni made it to the Indian team after hitting 3 consecutive 100s for an Ind A tournament. As for his selection to the Ind A team, it was done on the recommendation of Hanumant Singh the NCA bangalore director who said this lad shud have played for India from 2002!!
3.Dada plucked Bhajji out of obscurity.Again wrong.Bhajji had picked close to 125 wickets in 2 seasons in domestic cricket and wud have made it to the test team anyways after he took 6 wickets against the aussies in a practice game.Remember he made his debut in 97-98, had done fairly OK, was suspended for a suspect action, he had worked on it and wud have come into the side after Kumble injured himself before the Aus series.Only when the series got over and Bhajji bowled India to a series win, did dada fans started shouting tht bhajji was dada's discovery.
4.Yuvi and Kaif were two most impressive guys from a u-19 world cup winning team and would have made to the in any case. BTW if dada wanted them to succeed why did he send them to bat at no 6 and 7 which r the most difficult positions to bat?Point to chew.
5.Sehwag came into the team after scoring 800 runs in 2000 domestic season and then immediately won India a match with a 130 in SL in an ODI.Wonder what is dada's contribution there.

Are you on ganguly's payrolls?
by bimlesh mishra on Oct 10, 2008 11:38 PM  | Hide replies

Looks like Ganguly has planned all this meticulously and hired a number of yellow journalists like Rajnessh to sing peans of him and color every other guy as an enemy of Indian cricket.

Rajnessh, sorry but Ganguly as a cricketer was finished after tht 144 against Aus and he never shud hv been in the team after he chickened out of the Nagpur test against in 2004-05.No story on dada is complete without mentioning how he chickened out on the morning of tht test match due to some mysterious illness.Such a sore selfish cancerous loser he was.

Dhoni--Ganguly's discovery?
by bimlesh mishra on Oct 10, 2008 11:29 PM  | Hide replies

Mr WOlvesman,

If you aare writing an article on such a public forum then at least do some research before you say something. You say dada discovered Dhoni. This has to be the biggest lie on earth. Actually due to Dada Dhoni who shud hv made his debut in 2001-02 made his debut in 04-05 only after Parthiv Patel Dinesh Karthik failed to produce the desired results.Dhoni was the best keeper batsman in the domestic circuit from 2000 onwards but your great dada pehelwan never ever picked him even for the East Zone team.Dhoni was reeling off big scores after big scores but dada preferred the sameer dighes and prathiv patels ahead of dhoni. Finally when Dalmiya bit dust in the BCI elections, and saurav lost all his power, Dhoni was given a chance. And remember it was John Wright who out his foot down to have dhoni at no 3 because he'd seen him score 3 consecutive 100s in a INd A tour.

Therefore before insulting the other greats of Indian cricket in your praise for a cancerous selfish sore loser like Ganguly, do a proper research. In fact the very guys whom you hv abused were the ones who had the benevolence to keep dada in the Indian side when he'd hardly made any runs for 2 years starting from Jan 2004.Had More or Chappel wanted Ganguly would have been history in mid of 2004.But he lingered on , didnt score a run , scored a 100 in 250 balls against Zimbabwe and then went to the press saying how he felt suffocated.Does such a guy who leaks the dressing room talk deserve any prais

ur graet dhoni AVGS 24 IN LAST 15 TESTS IN LAST 2 YRS
WHAT ABT THAT?
HE DOES NOT EVEN DESERVE A TEST SPOT

AND DADA IS HIMSELF FROM EAST ZONE THEN WHY DID HE NOT PICK DHONI AHEAD OF OTHERS
DONT U HAVE THIS MUCH BRAIN

AND DHONI MADE HIS DEBUE IN 2003
NOT IN 2004-05 IN BANGLADESH

THIS SHOWS THAT U R A TYPICAL BIHARI WHO SUPPORTS DHONI FO NO REASONS

1ST U DO RESEARCH ON CRICKET THEN WRITE ALL THESE CRAP

Abhi,

Dude dhoni made his debut in 2003?LMAO,ROFL..do some research dude!!Dhoni made his ODI debut in Dec 2004 and test debut in Dec 2005!!You cant change facts can you?

As for dhoni averaging 24 in last 2 yrs, well who doesnt say he isnt a great test player..but perhaps you are forgetting tht he's in the team as a keeper first and as a keeper he's our best choice.

What I am debating is the authors comment on Dhoni being Dada's discovery. If you can refure any of the points I have mentioned, pls bring them forward. And as for your point of dada being east zone and thts why not picking dhoni, well then why did he pick Deep Dasgupta ahead of Dhoni?Talk about facts dude, mere shouting wont help you.

Author is a moron
by JM on Oct 10, 2008 10:30 PM

Ganguly WAS good, he was the king, God of off-side etc etc., everybody acknowledges that.
He WAS the lion who brought self-respect to Indians and taught them to stand up to the best opposition and instilled self-belief in every Indian and Indian cricket fan..granted

BUT all the above is in the PAST. And the his achievements dont mean that he should be in the team indefinitely.

If he had the sense to retire when he was on the top he wouldnt have faced this humiliation.

Sachin, Dravid, Kumble and Laxman are also morons who dont know when to quit. And they will face the same humiliation soon.

Indians are known to worship people blindly and also expect to be worshipped for something they did 10 years back. The world has moved forward my friend.

there's more rants than raves. journalism can be more descriptive than tabloid style. but then, you always can expect this from a dada fan.
