Wolves and Ganguly
by down_under on Oct 11, 2008 02:31 AM  | Hide replies

This sort of article is very unproductive. There has always been some disagreement between players- Bedi/Prasanna, Bedi/Gavaskar, Gavaskar/KapilDev etc. However only a mentally deranged person will go on to think that the whole world is against me. It is more about how you react to adverse situations.

I agree that Dada and other seniors are more or less same in terms of performance and potential for the last two years or so. But Dada also occupied a spot in the team form 2002-2005 solely by virtue of being a captain. Look at Michael Vaughan or Steve Waugh. No vitriolic statements back and forth between players, selectors or coach.
But we don't have to go down that far. Just look how a policeman talks to you in India vs. how he talks to you in USA.

You are infact nothing down under as-haule. India went into worldcup finals in 2003.
Your good for nothing precious Dhoni was found in 2004.
why... whats wrong in the article... its 100% correct. And mind you... I am not a bengaly. I just love cricket and am fan of Saurav, Sachin and Sehwag.
And above... there is nothing wrong in calling spade a spade. Those people were wrong..... so whats the point in ridiculing the article.

Very Poor Article
by Avi J on Oct 11, 2008 01:49 AM  | Hide replies

worst article ever written. Is this a sensible article on rediff. I never leave such comments.
However this is a very distasteful article. Not to mention the spelling errors and grammatical blunders. Rediff do you put anyone on your writers list. How about giving me a go at writing. I'm certain I will do a better job. Other people in the forum have a better understanding of Indian cricket, decency, writing a meaningful article and the English Language.
Very very poor taste indeed.

Dude, don't you understand the matter of fact of this article? Does the author want to write a good english paragraph? Please, do try to understand the depth of the article that the author wants to show us and don't bother ablut the english language, spelling and grammer. Whatever the author has written is about those foolish people who have always worked against DADA.

Ganguly Dada's retirement
by Vadali VenkataRamaKishore on Oct 11, 2008 12:45 AM

I think all the posts either label him as a Good or Bad
In Sport as in any facets of life, people cannot be branded as either Good or Bad, most people have both the qualities, and are termed as Good, if the dominant quality is Good, and bad if the dominant quality is Bad.
Ganguly undoubtedly was one of the most inspirational captains India ever had. He antagonized the Whites like No Indian Cricketer ever did ever before, and I love & adore him for that one quality, and that quality has been injected into India by Ganguly. Hats off for him for that.
Gangulu however had his many minus points,
(1) including chickening out on the day of the infamous test match against Australia at Nagpur in 2004,
(2) treatment of many a young player especially
>> Ajay Ratra (people have forgotten this wicketkeeper) who never dropped catches or missed stumpings, and even saved a test match in West Indies with his batting,
>> Murali Karthik - just because Ganguly plays left-arm spinner very well doesn't mean everbody in the world can !
(3) Selfish attitude during the Chapell controversy, though Chapell himself was not covering himslef in glory either
I think we Indians should appreciate that there is BROWN area between WHITE & BLACK, and people have all the shades of WHITE, BLACK, BROWN, and we should appreciate the quality, and condemn selfish motives, ie.. be objective in criticism or in praise.
Ganguly should be allowed to retire in dignity.
Thank you Dada.

since you have bared your soul
by Baingan Bartha on Oct 11, 2008 12:40 AM

for dada, why not bare your soul about your alleged informant bookie to the legal authorities and get the bleeding bookie to notice? What, dada's more to you than the national team? I hope the cops (who do watch this forum) get hold of these effin arseholes, (the authors and publishers and informants) make them cough up the names of everyone involved
