Tendlyacha Kaay?
by Anand on Oct 06, 2008 10:16 PM  | Hide replies

The state of Karnataka is a proactive and vibrant one, and people there proud of what they are.

They have done something spectacular for their great hero, and he deserves it.

Against all odds, they have created a city that has put fear in Americans, and *to bangalore* has become a verb in English!

They have some auto biggies manufacturing in their state.

Because they are justly proud of their language, the Karnataka Government owned Kannada Script enabling software NUDI, developed by Kannada Ganaka Parishat, is a freeware.

And, Maharashtra....Bichara Tendlya can wait for ever. Maharashtra is busy licking Delhi and North. And they are busy maligning him and swallowing Mumbai! SAD!!

"Against all odds, they have created a city that has put fear in Americans, and *to bangalore* has become a verb in English!"

-- That is silly. Bangalored is used as in "went to hell!".

To be realistic, bangalore is just a cheap coolie for americans. Howmuch innovation came from Bangalore? Zero? Even with this many number of software companies, Bangalore is known only as a cheap place for executing your job. Before making big claims, get 1% of what silicon valley do in terms of product innovations, new ideas etc. Right now, bangalore is only a cheap outsourcing center, nothing more.

So you consider the ideas coming out of Indian Institute of Science, ISRO, HAL, NAL just to name a few cheap. In that case I recommend you be outsourced.

Mr. Venkatesh,

The institutes that you mentioned are all Central Govt. facilities and happens to be located in Karnataka. Does that mean people from Karntaka runs these institutes? NO. They have talents from all over the country. Stop acting like an Upper Caste of Indian intellect.

What is cheap for you may not be cheap for others. Asking for cheap is part of any business. Plus. You will also be a cheap guy in some body else's view.

Enough Maharashtra bashing. If ever there is anything close to Kannada and Karnataka culturally, it is Maharashtra in the Northern direction, and they are both doing fine, thank you.

There is nothing wrong in being "cheap". The chinese have conquered the world with "cheap" products. There is a word for it.."economical". Most business houses these days here in US are looking out for "cheap" or "economical" services and products. So nothing wrong in being "cheap" as long as it is not a "cheap" attitude as it shows in your comments..

May be you are not an Indian at all.. !!!

Mr. Basavaraj,
You are very selfish in calling Dravid "The Jewel of Karnataka Cricket". Mr Dravid, the selfless cricketer, the greatest batsman that India has produced so far, a thorough sportsman, ... belongs to the whole nation. He is "The Jewel of Indian Cricket". I would even go one step further and state that Mr. Rahul Dravid is "the Jewel of the World Cricket". Please don't confine him to Karnataka alone.
But, we are all thankful to your state for giving such a great cricketer to the world and aptly honouring him.

May your kind flourish. Truly said. Dravid has been an asset to cricket world wide and to India. Were it not for the game of Cricket or India's participation in world cricket there would have been no Dravid the great. You're very kind in not ranting it out against all people from Karnataka.
By the way, for the record, Dravid is not really from Karnataka. He's a Marathi from Madhya pradesh!! But it's also true that he is as "Kannada" as they come having lived most of his life there. Goes on to show that it's important to respect diversity of India!

This is a symbolic gesture. In fact Sachin tendulkar and Veng sarkar erected four walls around Dravid.

Dravid is good at fast pitches and against teams like New zealand. He is good for test and was good one day and never for 20/20. He is stylish and if he can do well he can comeback for one day

Absolutely incredible on part of skyline to get this up and thanks for KSCA to erect that! This is the least we could have done for a classy cricketer (a understatement indeed) of our times...

Everything is ok, but the skyline is going to recover the cost of promotion from the gullible flat buyers. Look at their rate, averaging more than that of Dravids !

Congrats Dravid!
by Imran on Oct 06, 2008 09:37 PM  | Hide replies

Many n hearty Congratulations to Rahul Dravid. My Fav cricketer. No batsmen in today's time can come even closer 2 Dravid's elegance, his grace, his clasiness, his patience, endurance determination, fortitude, grit, etc, etc. I can go and on. But none can match him. He is the most technically sound player ever no one nor even Sachin or Lara can come close 2 d wall. 10, 000 runs in both forms of the game spaeks volumes abt his contribution, dedication to Indian cricket.

Unlike a sachin n ganguly 1 who plays for records and d other who is a very selfish n a jealous player Dravid is unlike both. He has donned many caps (batsmen, captain, wicket keeper) n has always performd n played for d team than for himself.

May u score triple hundreds in all d 4 up coming test n thrash out d Aussies. Amen.

by fellowgoodie on Oct 06, 2008 09:34 PM  | Hide replies

Of all the folks around,he is most sensitive to team needs, he gives his 100% percent and knows when to get out of the team, if not needed. I am sure, if he is not performing he will volunteer to quit test cricket, because he does not use politics and he does not have regionlist jingoistic folks to support him.
thats why i admire this guy of all the seniors in the team.

He loves to deride Dravid. I woud love to see this Gupta fellow play in the Indian cricket team for 3 years and then see how well he scores as a cricketer. Very easy to sit in the ivory tower and comment on anybody.

richly deserved honour for a great indian
by varun on Oct 06, 2008 09:25 PM

Rahul dravid is the 2'nd best test match batsmen that india has ever seen after sunil gavaskar. He is a great role model for young cricketers, and i hope the youngsters in the present team imbibe the qualities of him. He is determination personified and puts a price on his wicket, people like yuvraj need to do that more often.

Such is the achievement of this great individual that probably justice would be done only when any 'wall' in this world is also referred to as 'Dravid'!
