This analysis is inconsequential, because it takes into account only "CHANGE IN AVERAGE".Players like Sachin,Dravid,Laxman etc have performed against all oppositions equally well,so there is not much scope of CHANGE IN AVERAGE.
Please know about the history and the statistics of cricket before you post something like this in a popular site like Rediff. When everyone on the earth knows what Rahul as done as per your stats anything above 45 is a great! Better learn to right or post soething interesting..else reader spit at you.
One thing is clear. Ganguly has always struggled against quality bowling and good attack in tests. Ganguly cannot be considered as an all time great test player. One days maybe but not in tests please. he has always strugggled.
see the average of sachin and sehwag against australia i.e. 55 & 56 respectively, and also see the difference which is only 2.36 & 1.77... which shows that they can play well against any country.. still our analyst says that laxman is best....... laxman overall avg is 43 and agnst Aus is 50...... Is this a good analysis? .... i think no......
REDIFF if u cant show facts just stop publishing what do u mean by top 10 against aus is respect to the difference in their avg , it shud have been according to avg against aus not the difference between career and against aus avgs. if thats the case theb Sachin wud be at no 2 m pls stop such idiotic articles on rediff. we people still understand who's who in cricket so thanks for ur article next time u guys plan to write something just think before u publish

The funniest part is, in spite of the diff. Dravid has an average of nearly 48 against Australia, while Ganguly has just 32. But, the headline says `Dravid, Ganguly have poor record against Australia'. I know Dravid does not have many admirers. But it is ridiculous to say that an average of 48 is a poor record! And if you come up with away averages, you will find Dravid is the best of the whole lot, making the rest of them Kings at home!
This Rajaneesh Gupta always writes worst articles from irrelevant statistics. Forget India today against australia Sachin has the best records against Ausies 2350 runs at 56 avg nine 100's plus nine 50's. No other present batman from any country played better than him against this truly world champion team.
You have to accept Sehwag at 55 avg , Laman at 50 & Dravid at 46 played really good. These four people -Sachin, Dravid, Laxman & Sehwag will fit in any international test team to play against Australia
This is gross misuse of stats by non-cricketing brain.
I have seen articles written by people who have no cricketing knowledge but this seems to have been written by someone who has no common sense. How can you judge the performance of a batsman with the difference between his overall career average and against one team ? I mean Sachin has an overall career average of 55 and against Australia it's 56. So the difference in average is 2. Does this mean he has performed poorly than Nayan Mongia who has a better difference in average of 20 just because his overall career average is 24. And since when did an average of 47 become poor ? Dont write rubbish articles like these and make yourself look like fools.
