by f f f on Nov 27, 2008 12:54 PM  | Hide replies

Gilchrist quit cricket when he was at the peak of his form (Even today Australia are still finding it difficult to refill that place). Nobody wanted Gilchrist to do a Hussey-role, because Gilly was good at what he was doing and there were no competitors for him in that regard.

But Sachin. He is unfit in his own role and he unfit even to do others' role. He is just unfit to be in the side.

dhoni's blundersare being ignored
by sudhir khosla on Nov 27, 2008 12:53 PM

dhoni was out stumped after having his foot on the crease but his luck is such these days that everything is going his way....why is nobody questioning the need for him to come at the fall of yuvraj's wicket.......he should have sent rohit sharma so that he could get good practice......what is the use of sending sharma when only 17 runs are left to be scored......is this how dhoni intends to give chance to youngsters!!!!! moreover why did he play a reckless shot after completing his 50....does dhoni also play for his personal records??

Dhoni's replacement........
by Anurag Rathore on Nov 27, 2008 12:49 PM  | Hide replies

If selectors give rest to Dhoni, then R.Uthappa can be good replacement of him. He is hard hitter like Dhoni and also capable of doing wicketkeeping.

The best solution is BCCI should not force Dhoni to play in Champions league. He should play each and every international match.

The points are so clear.
by f f f on Nov 27, 2008 12:49 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin is not confident of playing down the order (That is the only place which he may fight for, according to average-rules, because people like Rohit are struggling for form). He just doesn't know to play down the order in ODI. That means, he is poorer than even somebody like Rohit (If somebody like Utthappa or Bhadri are given chance, it gets even tough for him). So, this means that he is ruled out in middle-order (His own curse mainly).

Next thing: Is he fit to play as opener? No. Sehwag-Gambhir are doing so well. Any layman will accept this.

So, he should not be in the team (at least for ODIs). Don't bring the stupid averages/SRs into consideration. Even Ganguly has all that.

dude you are making some really outrageous statements on sachin saying that he is not fit to be in team. Give me 3 valid reasons to justify your aurgument. Don't come up with crap like he plays for himself and does'nt play for the team and all. Just talk cricketing sense and tell me what do the youngsters like rohit and raina add to the side that sachin does'nt. Yesterday he might have not been at his best yet he scored 50 of 57 at a SR of 87, which is better than gambhir, rohit, raina, only yuvi and sehwag are ahead of him in the current indian team in terms of SR. But sachin has played almost 200 matches more and he also has an avg of close to 45, that is what we want consistency coupled with good SR. What has rohit done to justify his place in the team? And gambhir was not dropped yesterday, he was rested it's a part of the rotation policy. And regarding sachin being broad minded and let-go his place in team for youngsters, well that will be sending out a wrong signal to all the youngsters saying that getting into the indian team is very easy at the expense of someone who is a senior. The place in the indian team cannot be gift-wrapped and given to anyone, they have to fight for it. And sachin has earned the right to stay in the team till he wants. This is not abuse, these are just reasons for sachin to be in the team and i'am not a hard-core sachin fan too but you can't run away from facts and he is still our best player in all conditions.

He should be ashamed to disturb an emerging great opening-pair for the sake of his stats. Cricket is not about number-games, it is passion. After a long time, we are seeing a cricket-team, and not bunch of individuals. Still this Sachin is creating hypocrisy. His attitude yesterday (aiming 50) will give wrong signals to not only youngsters in the team, but also kids who want to aspire as cricketers.

dude he is not disturbing the opening combination, it's just that when he was taking rest these two have formed a good opening partnership, what wrong did he do yesterday, He scored at a SR of 87, if that is being selfish then all players are selfish in this team except sehwag are selfish. Wait till we play in SA or Aus where there is bounce and movement of the pitch, the picture will be clear as to who is the best opener? What was sehwag's scores in aus where he was asked to open? He was even dropped from the final 11, Sachin is also the gr8test match-winner ever not only in indian cricket but also world cricket, these are some stats to prove it
mat-208 runs 9939 100-30 50-72 sr-89.12 avg-57.12
sachin did'nt have the team he has now when he started playing and almost always he was the one whom india looked upto for winning a match. I know stats don't tell the whole picture but they have some indication for the quality of the player and sachin if he had not performed consistently for over 18 odd years would not have been in the team this long.

truth is sachin himself shall pick and chose ODI matches to stay fit.
most of time sehwag-gambhir shall open.
but the prob is when sachin returns, again the opening is disturbed.
we feel sehwag-gambhir pair is for future.

Sachin's selfishness
by f f f on Nov 27, 2008 12:33 PM  | Hide replies

Any layman can point out his selfish-attitude in yesterday's game! Dhoni made sure that India won. Sachin should actually have played that role (Coming in at critical situation and take the team home). But he is so impotent and he wants the hard-new ball to inflate his stats. That's it.

how about asking dhoni to open? Sachin has been the gr8test opening batsmen in the history of odi cricket and how can we not give him the position he wants. It's almost like asking gilly to perform hussey's role in the australian odi side. Dhoni did everything right in sending sachin to open and he is not as foolosh as you in his thought process

rohit geting out early would have thrown him out of team.
so he made sure for india's safety by the time rohit arived.
i agree 3rd umpire blundered on dhoni's stumping.
