sheela
when vengy, kapil, gavaskar were playing, moeny was the second prefrence. money came into the game after their era. update yourself & 1st wash your brain where we can smell regionalism. infact vengy was the only selctor who selected the player from all over india & none from mumbai & maharshtra.

But there is no denigning the fact that the Bombay lobby always tried to muscle their dominance. Even Haryana Hurricane could not end Bombay dominance. Only after DALMIA & co took charge they could curtail this lobby. Mr. Powar is trying to rebuild this again by shifting the BCCI office to Mumbai. But i am not against it as long as meritious players get selected to the team from all over India.

There was a time, I watched only these
by Naalayak Chhokra on Nov 03, 2008 12:38 PM

There was a time, when India had Srinaths and Prasads...
I used to wait for Kumble to come and bowl. His bowling and Tendulkar's batting were the only two interesting periods in India's play.

I salute Kumble. His memories will be cherished as one of the best, most committed bowler.

Retire Honorably
by Sumeet Goel on Nov 03, 2008 12:32 PM  | Hide replies

It's good that Kumble has retired honorably. Even Sourav is doing the same. Dravid & Sachin should learn from these two. They have to relaize that Cricket is a physical game, & youth is very much important in this game. In the interest of the Country, they should make way for younger Cricketers who would be much more full of energy & enthusiasm & Bat, Bowl & Field with much more dedication & energy.
And to top it all I think M S DHONI will be the GREATEST CAPTAIN INDIA HAS EVER HAD. He is amazing as a Captain & Player!! Well doen keep it up!!!

Greatest team-man
by rohan sharath on Nov 03, 2008 12:27 PM

Anil Kumble....the biggest name tat wil b missing in the Indian team from now on..wat a fierce competitor he's been..simply unbelievable for a man who was termed UNFIT to play EVEN 2 TESTS FOR INDIA..his absence wil b known only a few months from now on,for, his sheer determination, unflinching character, love for the game is simply unmatched..its really sad tat the greatest team-man,the most fierce sportsman the country has ever prodoced is retiring due to an injury, but one must admit tat Vengsarkar has played a pivotal role in ending Dravid's ODI career and Kumble's test career..he took some bold decisions,he must b applauded for tat, but, the way he handled seniors lyk Dravid,Ganguly was utterly disgraceful..y dint he comment wen the Great master Sachin Tendulkar was strugglin for form..the little master wil b the first to acknowledge tat he was supported extensively by the selection committee..v just hope ders no more disgrace done by any player from now on atleast, whether he's from Mumbai or els wher..KUDOS ANIL..U WIL ALWAYS RULE OUR HEARTS..

Kumble bhai, i wish u all the very best! This rediff open forum is really weird at times. You will find peeps who are frustrated in life, get kicks from wives or dads, and crip here ! You should not bother. Have a blast of life ahead, as the biggest advantage of retirement from cricket is, you can do a lot what you missed during your dedicated cricket tenure. Jumbo will walk, dogs will bark..lolz
