Anil Kumble
by SHARDA - Kolkata on Nov 03, 2008 12:08 PM  | Hide replies

It was Dilip Vengsarkar under whom Anil Kumble was selected as Captain. How can he comment on Anil's retiring. If a bowler of Kumble's calibre does not perform for few matches; it is incorrect to ask for retirement. I FULLLY BELIEVE IT IS VENGSARKAR's COMMENT THAT LEAD KUMBLE TO TAKE THIS DECISION.

IT IS INCORRECT & SAD DECISION.

BCCI MUST PERSUAD ANIL TO PLAY FOR SOME MORE YEARS.

Anil Kumble: We stand up and applaud your service to Indian Cricket
by Rajiv Arvind on Nov 03, 2008 12:02 PM

It was really emotional seeing Anil Kumble getting the rousing applause he deserved after the third Test against Australia at the Kotla. I am part of a generation that has grown up seeing the likes of Kumble, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman and Ganguly all through their ups and downs of their career. Kumble has been one of those cricketers who has gone about his work quietly, never raised a media furor or controversy, and even marketed very sparingly, unlike the Souravs and Tendulkars. But he has been a long standing performer in Indian cricket. When India’s back is to to the wall and you expect a hat-trick from Kumble to turn a match around, you know that he’s a match winner, much like one expects a century from Tendulkar when batting.

The love that he got from his team-mates while he left the ground, or entered it for that matter, (after his announcement) after the tea-break, must have been a really happy moment for him. This is what he has achieved in his 18 years of cricket - the respect from his teammates, opponents, umpires, referees and the like. I have never seen the Chandrashekars, Bedis and Prasannas playing live and I am really privileged to be a part of the generation that has seen the Kumbles, Tendulkars, Souravs, Laxmans and Dravids play for India for a really long period. In time, I will be narrating stories about Kumble’s performances, while the new generation would sit up and say,“Did Sachin bat like Rohit Sharma?”(I hope Rohit Sharma

Anil Kumble is in a league of few legendry sportsmen , who represented India ,without a blemish on their character.-Prakash Padukone,Krishnans/Anands
He personified Discipline, Dedication, Determination, un questionable integrity and outright professionalism.
A good human being who is a True Role Model for generations to come in any discipline of sports or whatever career one chooses. The present generation of cricketers should note that his achievements in cricket arena are devoid of elbowing, slapping / abusing, and such other misdemeanors.
One can be sure that he will excel in whatever post retirement options he chooses. May his tribe increase.
