It's an emotional moment for the Indian cricket.. I thought he could have stayed for some time more to contribute through his exploits in the field as the champion spin bowler. His commitment, dedication and hard work for the cause of the Indian cricket has been truly exemplary for the young cricketers, and he will always be remembered for his gentleman approach and dignified conduct which remained associated with him all through his long career as a cricketer. His scalps of 619 test wickets shall stay as a record for an Indian bowler for a long time to come. And I expected him to raise his tally to 700 if he could have chosen to play for a couple of years more.. but I respect his decision and salute him or his extraordinary achievements and contributions for the Indian cricket! His retirement marks an end of an era for the Indian cricket. I take this opportunity to wish him the very best!

Sameer I know it is clear Kumble was a great bowler but ... you are distorting facts here..
Fab 4 that was projected by media never included Kumble...it was always a term used for the 4 batting stars who starred in the India middle-order for last 10-12 years...They are ... Sachin,Saurav, Dravid,Laxman..in order of seniority
Anil bhai will be always remembered as a tough cricketer. He had performed not only with the ball but even in some tough situations he helped the team with his batting abilities. He along with Srinath had won a one day match against Australia just by their never say die attitude. All the expert batsmen were back to the pavillion but they together won the match (October 1996. Best of luck for ur future.
619 wickets are no doubt an incredible achievement. But an Avg of 30 means that opponent team will at least score around 300 runs each innings given all the bowlers in the team are of similar quality. Considering India probably did not have a better bowler than Kumble, It is no wonder that most of the time our opponent makes 400 to 500 runs and India's percentage of Test Wins are much much lesser than Australia. The situation is even worse in foreign ground, where we let opponent team score avg 350 runs each innings (considering Kumble's avg 35, but actually team's avg may be 45-50), its not sufficient to win a test match.
he made it possible that "Unconventional " spinners can succeed in mordern times. He was instrumental on taking the Indian Cricket to its zenith. will miss you always
He is such a graceful cricketer and brought laurels to the country... and all these karnataka criketers From V Subrmaniam thru Prasanna...down to kumble...Dravid ..are so dignified at all times.... they are great...
