And also Tendulkar. His presence naturally blocks the entry for a budding youngster. No matter even if the youngsters fail in a match or two...but they would get groomed. That is the way the sporting world elsewhere conducts itself.
Should Tendulkar remain as a permanent fixture of the Indian Cricket?

by Harpal Singh on Nov 02, 2008 11:57 PM

Sir... Salute and a Standing ovation for u on this day!!

Fighter is the word for u, no one can match the commitment u have shown over a period of two decades. I still remember when u came out to bowl in West Indies with a broken jaw... and today.. u have retired, bowling with an injured hand.

Will miss u........

God Bless

Harpal

Truly a Wonderful & Dedicated Cricketer
by chandrashekhar agavekar on Nov 02, 2008 11:51 PM

Anil Kumble was perhaps the most wonderful & dedicated crickter India has evre produced. One can just measure his dedication by seeing him play with a injured jaw in the West Indies when India really needed him. Such a cricketer won't be born again. You will be really missed Anil.

Kumble - the Real Match Winner
by Sandeep Soman on Nov 02, 2008 10:30 PM

Kumble is the biggest match winner so far for india, with no hype. There would be much publicity surrounding batsmen when they make centuries not necessarily win matches and here was a quite achiever who tirelessly took bagful of wickets each time and made india victorious.
In any indian test victory, kumble usually contributed more than 50% of wickets taken irrespective of at home or abroad.

Now lets see who fills the gap.

No doubt this series was terrible for him and emergence of Dhoni as a better captain and Mishra as classic leg spinner added with criticism from ex cricketers and mounting pressure from media made him QUIT.

Tributes to the Real Match Winner and A Great Soldier for India

end of era
by neha gtl on Nov 02, 2008 10:30 PM

sir, If each player want to play for 18 yrs/ 20 yrs , when the chance will come for others , one generation will go , players also think they play in the spirit of game , not for making record, so shortly Sachin also may retire
