Poor DC
by Rameez Hasan on May 04, 2008 12:22 PM  | Hide replies

Deccan Charges should blame themselves for this defeat (don't forget that stupid indian umpire who gave 2 wrong decisions against Deccan Charges).

This Bangalore team is really pathetic led by lame captain like Dravid. Bangalore should end up on the bottom of the table.

DC, despite having such a powerful line-up are in the bottom of the table, infact they have lost more matches than anybone in the tournament.. that itself says a lot of things....

1. Poor captaincy
2. Poor execution
3. poor local talent

Don't you think Misbah also got a bad decision.

Dravid's captaincy is better than Laxman and Ganguly in t20 matches. The reason- Laxman and Ganguly got better teams than Dravid but still they aren't utilising the resources well.

Bangalore will end up with either 4th or 5th place. Just keep watching.

Dravid trying his best with no local talent
by on May 04, 2008 12:10 PM  | Hide replies

People blame Dravid , whenever BRC loose the match. Bangalore currently do not have a local talent. He has to depend mostly on 4-5 players. Compare him to Ganguly. KKR got better local players compared to BRC but still they are loosing. Dravid is doing better with whatever the resources available to him.

Other than DRAVID, only two notable players from Bangalore are Uthappa, whom Mumbai took away and Kumble who can't turn the ball to be more effective.

One need to have a good local talent to win the matches.Delhi, Chennai and Punjab got a good local talent. KKR captain don't know how to use his local talent, even though it is good.

Stop blaming Dravid or Laxman or even Mumbai captain for everything, if they do not win. These captains are doing best with their available local talent. Also, do not expect they reach semis.

RCB should ask Venkatesh Prasad & Srinath to play instead of players like Sunil Joshi who is elder than Prasad or Srinath.

Why we shouldn't be blaming Dravid & Ganguly?

Rajasthan Royals are winning matches with local talent & some awesome captaincy by Shane Warne.

Both Daravid & Ganguly should retire now or take some lessons of captaincy from Warnie.

How can we call the local talent is better in rajasthan royals and delhi but not soo good in in other teams.Warnie is doing an exceptional job at captaining as well as coaching the side.
He is the true reason why some of the local talent has been doing exceptionally well.
The same might not have done so well had they played for some of the other teams like mumbai or banglore.

If Dravid and Ganguly retire, who will go to stadiums to watch matches in Bangalore and Calcutta respectively ?

Ganguly played far more 20-20 matches than Dravid. Ganguly should have played better . Dravid once known for test matches only, slowly developed his skills to become a good one day player. If he would have played 40 to 50 t20 macthes, he would have adjusted.

The reason you can't Darvid and Ganguly because for following two reasons.
Name any better player than Dravid even in 20-20 , who is from Bangalore for replacement and same holds good for Ganguly ?

RC is really lucky to get two quick wickets of Laxman and Styris (both LBW but not outs as per the TV replays) and thats the turning point. Else DC would have won the game. Greate effort by Bangar but could have run quickly in the previous overs to change singles to twos. Anyways the game was interesting.

tendulkar is so afraid to face bowlers like brett lee, mcgrath and asif that he has chosen the safes option of sitting out of the games. he will play against some weak opposition, score a scratchy 20 or 30. all his fans will be extremely happy and they will start praising him.
and they will claim that he is the greatest cricketer in the world. what an insult to the really great players out there.
he is nothing but an ordinary cricketer now. he was good when he was young. now he lacks the ability and skill to face the best bowlers. but he doesnt realize that. he thinks that by scoring a 100 in every 10 matches and getting out for single digit scores in the other 9 matches, everyone will consider him to be a great player.
it is time that he retires and gives opportunity to deserving youngsters before he ruins their careers.

he is a selfish player who wants to create all records before he retires. compare him to players like jayasuriya and gilchrist and others, who dont have any problems in playing according to the situation. if the team needs them to go for runs when they are on 90, the will try to hit a six. but tendulkar will make sure he will get from 90 to 100 in singles, wasting as many balls as possible. just because he will complete another hundred.
such selfish players do not deserve any praise.
indian cricket will propser if tendulkar retires.

the truth is that people like you become blind when it comes to tendulkar. whatever he does is ok, according you people. if he scores a zero, he would have got out to an unplayable delivery. if he struggles for a patchy knock, then the wicket is such that any batsman would have struggled.
thanks to people like you, mediocrity has assumed importance in indian cricket.
thanks to people like you, non performing players are given god like status in indian cricket.

you seem to be a someone who is blind to tendulkar's failures. you talk about his back to back hundreds and his winning performance in sharjah. how many matches has he plyed till now? he has played for 18 years. in all those years, are those 2 matches the only ones you can think of? that itself shows how much of a non performer he is.
you are proving what i said in my earlier reply. tendulkar will perform pathetically for many matches ina row. then suddenly he will come up with a hundred. and you will all be very happy and start saying that he is god. what an insult to god!!
what happened to your god when he hit ducks or single digit scores in other matches?? i am not saying that he should hit a hundred every single match. but if he is the greates player you all claim that he is, a little more consistency, selflessness and attitude is required from him.
a player doesnt become great by scoring 42 hundreds. the circumstances in which he gets them and the manner in which he gets them also contribute to his greatness.
as long as you people dont realize this, you will continue to be oblivious to his failures.

before you start abusing others, get your facts right.
again and again you are focussing only on tendulkar's match winning innings.
just one year back, he struggled at home againts pakistan. his own hone crowd (mumbai) booed him out of the stadium. anyone who has played as an opening batsman for 18 yars will get 42 hundreds.
forget about the recently concluded series against australia. apart from that, can you tell me atleat 5 innings over the last 5 years where his hundreds have contributed to an indian victory (test matches)? can you tell me at least two second innings performances over the last 5 years where his batting has won the match for india?

and you are extremely smart too my friend. you quote statistics on matches, but you dont take into account the value of the innings.
tendulkar, when batting second has a failure rate that is comparable to most number 11s in the world.
you are using his injuries to protect him here. 'if not' for his injuries in 2004 and 2005, he would have done well. would he? 'if not' for your diminishing grey cells, you would have become albert einstein, wouldnt you?
his 91 in headingley, as well as some of the other knocks that you have mentioned were constructed with such pain that any one would have wondered if the man was playing with one blind eye. his misses and swipes at deliveries were an eyesore. the only good thing about that innings was his focus to stay at the wicket despite struggling so much.
his 2 hundreds against bangladesh, well, all i can say is that jason gillespie also got a 200 against bangladesh.
and i still am waiting for an answer. his 2nd innings match winning performances (not even hundreds, mind you). this distinguishes him from players like ponting, lara and other true greats.
do you mean to say that inspite of playing 18 years he doesnt have a single match winning performance in the 2nd innings? wow, that truly makes him great!!!

ur really amazing dude. u find one reason or the other for talking trash abt tendulkar.

1. now that i compiled u a list of useful scores by sachin, u talk abt first and second innings. then when i compile list for the same, u will talk abt scores in daytime and afternoon time..what humbug arguement is this? seems like u have free quota to talk trash abt sachin as much as u want and u dig all kinds of scenarios for that from the corner of ur brain.

2. oh so now that 91 has been proved to be useful, it was played with pain eh? next u would say sachin needs to bat with one hand and score hundreds eh? mate have some sense here. we are talking cricket here not some gilly danda or some rajnikanth film.

3. so if gillespie got 2 hundreds against bdesh, sachin should not? he should just keep quiet and score ducks when he is in australia? now u really starting to annoy me and show ur total ignorance.

4. if 2nd innings alone was so imp. then do u mean to say all should get out to zeroes in first innings...btw the pitch is rock hard and doing things mostly in first innings...true mark of a batsman is how he scores on these good tracks with bounce and moisture for fast bowlers in the first innings and helps team build up a good score,...

ur really talking trash dude coz u know in ur own heart ur running out of excuses to find that sachin is not a great player. thats why u resort to all kinds of irrelevant nonsense like scoring 91 in pain and what not.

if you are so keen on portraying tendulkar as a great batsman, i am willing to have a bet. lets assume that he plays for another 2 years. in those 2 years, let us see analyze each match, each inning. let us see how many winning performances he dishes out.
let us categorize it :
matches played in india
matches played abroad
batting first (ODIs)
batting second (ODIs)
first innings batting (tests)
second innings batting (tests)

after 1 year of cricket, let us see if he has proved himself to be a great batsman. who knows, i might change my mind at the end of 1 year!!

let me know if you agree to this.
instead of having a war of words here, let us go about this in a different way and let us see if we can arrive at a conclusion. what do u say?

now i am amazed at your ability to support tendulkar over and over again. you claim to hve given me scores of his second innings batting leading to an indian voctory. i cant see that anywhere. perhaps you would be kind enough to point that out to me again.
then use use stupid logic to counter my argument about second innings being not important. second innings is absolutely crucial to winning matches. that is when he has proved himself incapable time and again. sadly, you dont seem to realize that.
all you want to do is take it out on anyone who criticizes your idol.
the fact is that tendulkar has struggled a lot in recent times against quality bowling. all that struggle gets hidden or remains in the background whenever he manages to score a century after many innings of failure.
again, i reiterate, i dont have anything personal against tendulkar. my point is that he isnt as good as he once was. and it is high time people realize that instead of clinging onto past glory.
as for the accusation that i am running out of excuses to belittle tendulkar, all i can say is that his performances speak for themselves.
you have different yardsticks for judging people. and when it comes to tendulkar, the yardstick is shortest.

it is true his performance got affected in 2004 and 2005 due to tennis elbow injury. he could not free his arms as much as he could before 2004 due to the injury and as a result he could not hit freely. still he recovered and came out of it and played wonderful knopwcks. that shows the mark of a true genius who knows how to adpat to challenging situations.

strike rate of 150 for batsman, can b considered as good in this format. below 150 s/r may b okay or average. and in crucial situations, s/r of even 200 can b attained which shows one as a good batsman.
and as for laxman or other players scoring with s/r of 120 (although very good for odi) is not sufficient when the required run rate is above 8 rpo ie. require s/r of 135.

Socring 6 of 1st ball and getting out in the next ball will yield the best strike rate of 300. If all 10 players do that the total will be 60 runs. And the match can then be called 3-3 over match. New format?
