yes. he was a natural stroke player. he scored more than 5000 runs in tests which is half of the runs scored by gavaskar, around 11000 runs. moreover, he didnt hv to set himself for scoring, he used to start playing strokes immediately on his arrival at the wkt.

Dude, Kapil did NOT go to an "English Medium" school nor did he take Call-Centre English training lessons to hone his skills. India is probably the only country in the world where English skills are kept in such high pedestal, that almost no other skills seem to matter. English language skills certainly does open up a lot of opportunities , but why is that somebody lacking in it is looked down upon ?

excellent comments.
But it's reality that every parent want their children to learn English. Reasons could be 1) status issue, 2) Open economy 3) Lack of educational opportunity using domestic medium 4) Indian are not proud of their own language.

The fact is that he is talking and when you talk you just let it flow. Its the person doing the proof reading before the article was published who needs to go back to school and learn how to report an interview. Or may I suggest " Interviewing for Dummies"

kapil was/is/will be a cricketer .Not a Professor or journalist. He brought us a CUP OF JOY which is still overflowing.Just enjoy.
Kapil will remain an All-Time Hero for India. Not just because he captained India's world cup winning team but because of the image we had of him as a Valiant Fighter.
But the fact remains that his potential as a batsman was not fully realized. India may have been served better in the closing years of his career if he had been given more batting opportunities instead giving him a lower-middle order spot. He may not have been a technically correct & compact batsman but he had a natural ability to play strokes.
There are so many vivid memories of him as batsman I personally have (bseides the famed 175): Jeremy Coney waving his kercheif as a whie flag to Kapil to stop hitting him sixes & fours His 4 sixes in a row to avoid India from a follow-on in Lords His patient, discretion-full ton against the aussies in the tied test in Chennai. His magnificient ton against the Windies in Chennia (everybody remembers Hirwain's 16 wkt haul but take a look at Kapil's effort)
There're so many of his cameo knocks in the least of batsman-friedly pitches against tougher oppositions. Check out his knock in the first test of '91 series against the aussies in which we were walloped 4-0
Lastly, watch the India-SA match in world Cup '92. Even at that age, Kapil hit 40-odd in les than 30 balls smacking Donald & Co for couple of fours & sixes with lovely free flowing strokes.
India may have had a fleet of pace bowlers after Kapil's exit from the scene but no of these has ever come close t

agreed. kapil was the best pacer during his era but not only that, he scored more than 5000 runs ie half the runs gavaskar scored. so he was really a genuine all rounder. above all, he was a good hitter of the ball playing with his instincts and the running catch in wc final is a testimony of his fielding ability.

Yes a Valiant Fighter. his contemporaries could not deafeat him & finally he was defeated by greatest ever cricketer called Sarad pawar,he is such agreat cricketer that he need not to go to the ground he plays cricket from the board room.

Sharad Pawar? Who? The lame, paralytic dumb ass?? He is a fine example of the class to which Indian polititions belong to. He didnt disgrace Kapil.. he just disgraced BCCI. Kapil is too 'great' to be dishonoured! Look at how many back him.. rather than SP. We need Gandhijis policy here.. Ignore IPL. Can you??
