Great day in Indian Cricket History
by Hansraj Chahar on Jun 22, 2008 01:17 PM

Kapil and his team did it when no one expected. It was so hard to think of a win against West Indies with 183 runs on board. I still remember the moment when India scored such a low score, I turned off the radio and walked out thinking that no use of listening to the radio. W.Indians are in great form and they will make it very easily. And we were happy thinking that India made it to final is a great achievement. But the Team Kapil did the magic and all the big stars of Opposition disappeared one by one. Later on that day I turned the radio on and was so happy to find Geffery Dujon struggling to make runs and here comes Mohinder Amarnath and he was out on the first ball. Great Day for Indian Cricket history, we can still rejoice it. But it pinches when our real Heroes like Kapil are not treated well by politics of BCCI. I think BCCI should be run by cricketers and not politicians. My good wishes to Kapil and all team members who did us proud. Once again shame on BCCI who donot treat our heroes well. Good wishes to Indian Cricket.

INDIAN CRICKET AND PUBLIC, FULL OF SENSELESSNESS
by vaibhav kumar on Jun 21, 2008 09:44 PM

If you ask 1983 world cup wining team that how they feel now. Not only they but the entire country will say, wow, grat.

But wait a minute, almost all of them getting ridiculously emotional and creating a nonsense scene.

Most of them are now been seen as legends but then that;s it. They have lived their part of glories. DO NOT OVER DO NOW.

What they could do, they have done.

Let us have our senses back. Get all the OVERHYPED and HUGHLY PAID current crop of cricketers who believe more in dancing with bollywood stars in in advertising products, be focused and BE TOLD, that only becuase they live in INDIA, a coun try of extreme emotions and senseless supporters, they are regarded as good as 83 winning team, without achieving any substance.

Stupid interviewer and Stupid Editor

I have always believed that the Editor reviews the content that is going to be published. I know that Kapil Dev isnt very good at English, but the editor should have atleast rectified the minor mistakes and make it look professional.

Another case of Non-Professional attitude of Rediff Editors

Let him not speak good English. That does not matter at all in this perspective. Your stupid comments have no justification to stay here.
We here are taking about something on our glorious day of the past and of course not on the english learning course.
You have no sense at all.

Ashish you are absolutely right. Not only the interviewer but the editor too has screwed up the whole thing which could have been much better. If the interviewer or the editor do not know Andy Roberts can never be written as N D Robert then they should quit at once.

Stop Now !

We Indians keep on bragging about something that happened 25 years back...may be because it is our sole acheivement in field of sports. We should think about our future rather then talking about the past.

Ketan, History is the ancestor of the Present. Without History there would not be any present. Do you celebrate your birthday? Or your wedding anniversary? Or your children's birthday? Why? Thats the same reason why 25 years later, World Cup 1983 still gives me goosebumps & my heart swells with pride.

Mr.Ketan, Thanks for your lofty ideas. Why dont you start with yourself. Stop preaching and behaving like an idealist. So in your words no one should read history as it is the past.No one is saying that you rest on the past laurels, it is moment in Indian cricket history that we cherish. 1983 WC victory was the turning point in Indian cricket. It is all about cherishing the great achievemnt that we have achieved in that particular field and that too by beating mighty WI (at that time). nothing wrong in it!!!
and talking about past doesnot mean that we are not focussing in present and future, it is all about how you perceive it
