First of all it was Andy Roberts .. not ND Robert .. Rediff should have hired a senior sports journo ..
And the next thing .. "if you got this match wrong the chances of getting through were impossible"
The Zimbbwe match finally turned out to be an inconsequential one .. even if India had lost that match ... India would have sailed thru to the semis by virtue of the win against the Aussines in the next match!

looks more like a e-chat-interview... no one wd dare make ND of Andy (roberts) Arnabh Goswami is senior enough to do a proper tape/chat to type job of this kind of info gathering... Kapil is his usual dont-care-about-english-polish-sholish self...(the most refreshingly oiginal attitude of his - which one seens in MS dhoni too these days... but Arnabh goswami is supposed to be al lest straightening up the sentences and spellings... wonder what happens to these bluster-filled pseudo intellectuals...

PLEASE don't belittle the greatest genuine sportsman like Kapil, applying irrelevant yardstick of quality of English. In fact, his English brought out his robust but lovable personality very effectively.

Anurag, ok I agree that Kapil's english is poor, and your are having too much knowledge in english, but "Anurag Sharma".... no one knows, probably not even your next street people. But "Kapil"..no need to write his full name.. the word "Kapil" itself is written with golder letters in indian history not only in cricket history. our next generation talk about him surely. he is one of the one who took the name "INDIA" to international level....

Poor editing by rediff but leave that aside for a moment and relive those memories of 1983. Until 1983 World cup, no one took India seriously in ODI. But the turning point came in Berbice ODI in Indian tour of WI in Mar-Apr 1983.India defeated WI for the first time in ODI in that game where Sunny Gavaskar made a majestic 90 off 85 balls (run out) and Kapil blasted 72 off 36 balls (took the spinners apart) that took India to 282/4, in response WI managed only 255/7 in 50 overs. Also remember that during those days there were no power plays nor were the boundary ropes brought in (like they do nowadays in ODIs) so quick scoring even in ODI was not easy as it is nowadays. No one can forget Kapil running in 25-30 yards and take an outstanding catch that he made it look so easy, Sreekant's cover drive off Marshall, Sandhu's banana inswinger. Thank You Kapil for changing the history of Indian one day cricket.
Viv richards hit Kamal nath for runs....surely it was meant to be Amarnath (the guy who complimented the selectors calling them a bunch of vidushak)...come on rediff edit your articles.

but sharad pawar & niranjan shah are greatest bowler. they can take wicket of any indian cricketer without even going in the ground.
