Kumble gives in
by Umesh Srinivasan on Jan 15, 2008 09:48 AM  | Hide replies

It seems only Kumble, under the insistence of Madugalle, has withdrawn the charges against Hogg.As a gesture of goodwill,Ponting too could have done the same against Harbhajan, which he didn't,which only shows Kumble has succumbed to pressure

you forget that bhajji is guilty of rascism and hogg is not guilty. The charge against hogg was a stunt and so it was withdrawn. Team india has no balls.

It's a case of the pot calling the kettle black, the Aussies once called Jayasuriya 'black m****y' and got away with it.The fact is that the Aussies don't like being paid back with their own coin.Symonds' recent proclamation that he doesn't mind being called thus by 'friends' only proves the obvious.

I definitely agree with Umesh that when Kumble showed gesture, Ponting should also have shown gesture in withdrawing the case against Harbhajan. I think BCCI have a hands-in-glove in this affair with the ICC because its present President is interested in heading the ICC body at the cost of his country, players and the integrity. First of all, Indian team should not have bowed down to ICC or Australia and should have taken this opportunity to settle the things of Australia's misbehaviour not only with Indian Team but also with other world cricket teams. Becase of their fear of loosing Sydney Test to India, Cricket Australia used this tactics of buying umpires to rule the game and decisions in their (Australia's) favour. This is very clear from the television clippings of how the umpires ruled the decisions in Australia's favour. I do not call this a spirit of game but a spirit of shame. India should immediately withdraw from the present Australian Series without playing in Perth. I think the BCCI top personnel are not that effective against Australia, atleast and succumbing to pressure. What a shame to the world of cricket.

The ideal snub for the BCCI for all this would be for the TRP ratings of the channels telecasting the remaining tests to nose dive in India; so much so that the sponsors should ditch the channels and the BCCI midstream.

Shameless BCCI !
by Sunil Karkhanis on Jan 15, 2008 09:45 AM  | Hide replies

BCCI is a shameless body not concerned with the respect of India as a nation. Who gave right to Anil Kumble for dropping the charges against Hogg ? Is Anil kumble is representing himself on the field or India as a nation ? If Hogg has made any remarks , they shd b taken as remarks made on India & not on Kumble n Dhoni. If our players want to do Gandhigiri then pls visit sabarmati ashram and start weaving the cotton.

Yes, the entire cricket team should visit Sabarmati Ashram and starting weaving cotton for the benefit of India and its General Public. Atleast they would have a feeling that, they have done something to their country by weaving the cotton.

Yes, public in India should stop watching cricket as the game is not getting its accredition due to the recent happenings in Sydney. It is also a fact that the game is slowly losing interest in the public.

This is the highest level of imbecility shown by the indian board and team. Utterly shameful, harbhajan will still be called a racist there and his sentence carried out. Believe the aussies and cry like babies!

Kumble will also drop the series...just like he dropped charges.
by Palak Paneer n Curd Rice on Jan 15, 2008 08:49 AM  | Hide replies

Indian cricketers are too much. We forget our self respect and play for money even if teams insult us or cheat 10 times in a game and have umpires on their side. They treat us so bad and yet we sit there and dance to their tunes.

Yesterday Symonds said in a paper that he doesnt mind being called such names by his close people or friends. His friends can comment racially against him but he gets seriously upset only if a certain Harbhajan of opposition team who plays well makes such a small comment that too after being provoked by him (Symonds).

Such double standard people the cricket team of Australia has.

If Kumble was so wise he would have demanded
that the 2nd Test match be nullified or made unofficial by the ICC & only then he would proceed on the tour. But he wants to enjoy the sight seeing & earn money even if Aussies insult him or cheat in other matches & win by unfair means . Maybe he wants to help them break their so called world record Test wins even if his or team self respect is at stake.

Even the Aussie Roebuck himself said in Sydney Herald paper. "I am surprised the Indians have still not packed their bags & returned".Being an Aussie himself he sharply criticised Aussies in that paper saying they cheated & and that Indians had no respect in their country and they should not play there.

Still Kumble wants to stay. Maybe he wants to drop the series just like he dropped charges on Hogg.

all this is premeditated. this is a cover up to conceal the failure of indian cricket team in aus., indian people being emotionally swayed into believing and supporting the team no matter what..completely forgetting the loss in the first test...the timing is perfect...both of the hearing and also the drama..everyone knows the series would never be called off...yet the peoples confidence in the team should not be lost, but now the truth is out

BCCI is disgusting
by gopalan karthikeyan on Jan 15, 2008 08:31 AM

First they made out as if they are going to take the boorish Aussies head on and made the whole cricketing world will sit up..Now they have meekly surrendered to the Aussies by dropping the charges against Hogg and allowing the charges against Harbhajan Singh to stay. Both team India and BCCI have emerged with mud all over from this fracas with the Aussies.India lost not because of the abrasive and arrogant Aussies but because of the money mindedness of BCCI and team India who will pledge cricket to the commercial commitments whatever be the humiliation heaped upon the team and the players. We should all stop watching cricket played by team India.Even Laloo has greater sense than the whole bunch of BCCI and team India.

Unfortunately, India looks like being capable of doing anything except winning tests.

While the Australian players, media and commentators are able to still talk about strategies to completely rout the Indians in the remaining part of the series amidst all the off-field controversies and bitterness between the two teams, the Indians still are spending their time thinking and talking solely about Harbhajan and the charge against him. Unlike in the case of the Australians, we hear little or nothing from the Indians about their plans for Perth.

It looks as though they expect the Indian fans to be concerned only about the racist charge against Harbhajan and will forget about the series result.

We have lost the plot
by shiva on Jan 15, 2008 07:23 AM

Everything is over, bar the shouting. We have been beaten to a corner and do not know how to marshal the facts.

Where do others stand? I think they are enjoying the fun at our cost. May be they think we are throwing our number games too much and need to be cut to size. If Bajji did make a comment, we may not get support with WI, ZA, SA. We have to call the bluff. It is one thing to call anonymous names in the net to get the bile out of our system, but the players have still to face others looking like Symonds.

If we are isolated and take the plunge, we will have lots of time to reflect. Too much of a good thing is also bad, so let us take break?

Unless we can put forth a coherent case, we have lost it. We seem to be the fall guy at the end of the day. A born loser?

BCCI are run by a bunch of pet dogs who are only interested in making money at the cost of anything, same as those arrogant Aussie pricks. So I think that their actions are justified. Now the players are also in the same class I think. Anyway, many times it is proved that Indian players are more interested in shooting for the ads.
