It's better to be Honest
by VenkataNarayanan Srinivasamurthy on Mar 03, 2008 01:18 AM

I've been reading about the work of D V Sridharan for about 4 years now (goodnewsindia.com and not goodnewindia.org). Anybody who cares to know about this man, please go thru the above mentioned website and also his on-going work (Point Return).

There wasn't anything indecent or chauvinistic or racist or semi-literate in the article. It was just his gut-feel and his understanding.

He wanted to write honestly about what he feels about his subject (The Australian) and he has done it when he got an opportunity.

One needn't be politically correct always!

And somewhere, within the stereotyped understanding that I have of this world (I'm not a saint yet), I do concur with the views expressed in his article.

I believe a whole generation of cricket watchers in india wouldn't forget this tour and the way the Australian cricket team behaved. Atleast I don't think I can forget this for a very very long time to come. To me this is not just a drama (may be for BCCI, ICC, CA & IPL it is). It was a revelation about the current australian team.

My sympathies are with Brett Lee. Poor bloke, his promising career in Bollywood/Music/Commercials might not be as promising as it looke before.

But you never know what tricks the Big four (BCCI,ICC,CA & IPL) of world cricket have got in store for you !!!

This semi-literate racist diatribe stands as a damning indictment of the kind of populist nationalism present on this website. I honestly hope that this kind of garbage is not representative of Indians in general. These kinds of jaundiced views, as does the author's spurious, poorly researched and highly selective evidence, are anchored in a bygone era.

It is funny that people call the facts thatare so very present right in front of them as 'garbage'. May be they have their personal benefits coming from australia, but the fact is that if u try to close your eyes away from reality it won't change it. The behaviour and character of australia is openly known and accepted. The incidents quoted in the article are the reactions of the australian government and in a democracy does the governmet not represent the people. People disqualifying this article can least be termed as people with no self pride and more importantly respect for their own country. And if you are to comment on the authenticity of the article why dont you bring the evidences on and lets stand on even grounds then.

Trying to make sense of nonsense - Bhajji
by Eknaath Nagarkar on Jan 31, 2008 10:14 AM  | Hide replies

Ernst Glad, a British Officer on duty pulled up a workman for smoking a beedi in a No-Smoking Zone. The latter snuffed the beedi and left for his work-place muttering the word %u2018bolimagane%u2019. The British Officer who had heard the curse-word clearly immediately jotted it down some place and later when he got to know the actual meaning of the word expressed surprise saying, %u201CTrue! My mother is a widow. But hell! How does he know that?%u201D

Some similar thing must have happened with Bhajji. For Punjabis the unprintable curse-word comes out too easily. When the word slipped out of his mouth, Symonds must have got confused for the word %u2018monkey%u2019. If he were to get to know the real meaning of the curse-word he too would have probably reacted like the British officer did.

Inverted coma typed out here correctly when posted hereabove appears variously as %u2018, 2019 etc., thereby making the posted matter totally unreadable and unintelligle. Why?

About Australians

I think people who write such a column need to have a higher mind than this. This article is rank chauvinism and bad taste. Dismiss Sridharan from your payroll he needs a lot of growing up to do to be a writer mature enough for public dessimination.

I'm really sorry for the above post.
Actually I 100% agree with what D V Sridharan says.
I am working in Australia and one of my collegue forced me to write above comments. His behavior shows that how australians are. Also you must have witnessed, how they falsely accused harbhajan as a racist. One can imagin how much harbhajan and his family must have suffered. Today NZ judge declared that harbhajan has not made any racist remark.

Then be a man and stand up for what you believe in. Only idiots believe that Harbajhan was innocent- why don't you tell us some more insights about the tooth fairy or santa claus. The BCCI pressured the judge not to find Harbhajan guilty, he only got off because of insufficient evidence- which doesn't mean he didn't do it. He's been busted 4 times before for unsportsmanlike conduct. He embarrassed his family, nobody else- as do you when you don't stand up for your convictions. Keep crying and blaming others.
