The above tripe by Sridharan
by on Jan 17, 2008 04:50 AM  | Hide replies

What a load of absolute tripe...! Mr Sridharan-basically, who on earth are you to define Aus culture or ethos or basically any culture? I strongly suspect you are another typical rabble rousing, s@#t stirring sensationlist paparazzi so commonly found in our indian media. Have you ever considered the fact that people like Dennis lillee who inspite of being Aus lend their hand to develop pace bowlers in india, or that Steve Waugh does a lot of charity work in calcutta? If anything, have you ever researched the fact that 1000's of Australians were also shamed by their team's boorish behaviour and sympathised with india? I am indian, hve lived in Aus for 12 years and currently living in NZ, i have a lot of affection for Australians, their way of life and their competitiveness, and hey-they love a fight in the middle....they are as well mannered as the next guy in india, So for Gods sake stop this moral bashing and culture redifining, take a look at yourself or start peddling vada pav's-and you wont have to look to far to search for papers to hold those vada pav's-your articles should be enough....you apology of a journalist or whatever, actually rediff should be shamed for this above article

there r 2 sides to everything, and i think what most aussies who think, ah justice was not done with indians, is ok, but ponting and company have gone beyond my expectations to cheat to win a game .. and i dont think u have seen cricket in the last 20 yrs where the aussies have cheated, yes cheated to win games .. i think that was the theme of the game, period .. do u forget how warne used to complain about pollution in delhi .. why did he come to play in delhi then .. to cpmplain .. there is more than meets the eye about the aussie cricket team perspective .... think about it!

absolutely. there's surely 2 sides to a coin, and its the other side that the Australians so vehemently deny. well, in the end, whatever the argument, whaveter the situation, they seem to feel that they are right. rightly so, thats their opinion to keep. we dont necessarily have to subscribe to it.

Common man, dont let anybody kid you. Afterall these are descendents of convicts. You are fascinated by Gori Chamadi because you have no self esteem. You can't call spade a spade bcos you are blinded. We, from outside, can judge them better bcos our sight is not blurred. If Aus is so good, why did you move to NZ? Don't lie to identify yourself with Ausies.

Ford Eals-firstly, i am placed in NZ due to my my company's project committments so if you are wanting to suggest that i have moved due to the factors mentioned by Sridharan in his absolute 'garbage' article, you are mistaken. Yeah-Aus was a penal colony at one stage - which doesnt basically mean each and every inhabitant has descended from a criminal. Several others have migrated there out of their own choice also. I need not indentify myself to the aussies nor to you, I am indian and that will never go away, am proud of it and for your basic information-living in Aus or Nz gives me an identity of the indian race which most people i have met, do identify/acknowledge/& have never met anyone who has put down. When you say we from outside can judge them bcos your sight is not blurred, i would like to say that it is blurred because of rabid journalism like the above post and all the media hungama caused by indian channels (in fact one anchor called for indian bowlers to kick the umpires when they run up to bowl) does colour your sights. I am not saying that the Aus cricketers are angels or that the general aus public are good, but my point is the above c@#p by Sridharan is uncalled for and does not define anyone living in aus or for that matter anywhere else-reading articles like this and the media furore causes those of you in india to think that Aus is a bad place when it is no better or worse in many aspects than our own india...hope you take this in the right spirit

also vishwajit, remember freedom of expression .. rediff chose to publish an article, where some one expressed what they wanted to, and you are making an issue about the fundamental principle of a person .. u abuse the writer too, and who says you are the expert about this incident .. are you not making the same mistake, which in your view, the writer is making, which is being opinionated .. are you then not boorish?

to vishwajit thank you for a unbiased balanced view. The rest of the worlds view of India to the ordinary person in the street is not that good. we are told of the abject poverty of the poor, the dirt and disease, the lack of health care. the pollution, corruption, killings bombings, the list could go on, one could say that is an ignorant view. to most educated and enlightened people out there in the world other than India knows that not necessarily true. but to hear some of the claptrap coming out of your mouths show nothing short of complete ignorance and a lack of ability to understand that the media feeds you what it wants you to buy. by spreading this rabid editorials it sells more papers and fools get suckered into it.

Australia has it's problems like any other country, but generally are a very tolerant people, seeing the diversity of cultures and races. we have very little racial issues, there are some as it isn't always easy as some don't assimilate well, but they are accepted. we don't burn effigies of people because they don't suit our views, can you say the same. we have freedom of speech and the right to protest some get out of hand but that happens. we like all forms of sport and competitive like India. I am sure India is a nice place and you are proud of it, but remember so are the Aussies proud of their country. if you want respect then you have to respect others also. visa versa. only small portion can claim convict status.

The article is about Australia not about India. Why you tries to divert the attention by saying something irrelavant and bogus?

Your looking for something which doesn't exist. This is an 'opinion' piece, which basically means it's a way to put any sort of rabble up on their site whilst maintaining some kind of distance from it.

Rediff couldn't publish this on their own accord and still maintain the illusion that it is an actual news site, so instead they publish the 'opinion piece' of someone who reflects the views of the uneducated masses which make up this board but can string a sentence or two together.

Ultimately the uneducated peanut gallery masses agrees, credit it to Rediff, and come back, which means more chances to throw the 20 something almost white Indian women advertisements which litter this place at them, and more chances they'll click them, which means more money for rediff.

RE:Who actually is D V Sridharan?????

It's an opinion piece... none are required. Essentially what has happened here is that Rediff can not attribute themselves so directly to this article or an article of its nature because it's obviously just demented. But at the same time, an article of this nature is all kinds of popular among the effigy burning uneducated rabble which make up the Rediff readership, so such an article is $$$. So you get this, they publish someone with all the same prejudices and gall of your average Rediff reader as an 'opinion' piece, the peons rejoice, love rediff for it, and the hits keep coming, and every hit is another chance to throw another picture of some almost white 20 something hot indian looking woman advertisement in the peoples faces, which = $$$$.
