i LOVE U PONTING
by test on Jan 10, 2008 02:03 PM  | Hide replies

I support ponting

In 1996 world cup sachin was run out against sri lanka but it was not referred to 3rd umpire and sachin scored 140 runs and india still lost the match

Anil kumble's 10 wickets against pak was also cheat coz afirdi was not out and ijaz ahmeds decession was not clear and it should have gone to the batsman

we indians always create a fuss when v loose..what if we would have won this match?? they had great chance to draw the match but they collapsed like cartoons and then they started blaming australia

WE NEVER CREATED A FUSS WHEN 3 WRONG DECISIONS WERE MADE..BUT WE PROTESTED BECOZ THIS TIME IT WAS EVIDENT..ALMOST 9 CASES AGAINST US..THAT COST US OUR MATCH..
ALSO WHATEVER INSTANCES U ARE REFERRING TO..LET ME TELL U ONE THINBG..
PERHAPS SACHIN HAS BEEN GIVEN A WRONG OUT INNUMEROUS TIMES..MRE THAN ANY OTHER BATSMAN..
IF U REALISE THE WEIGHTAGE IT CARRIES..THAT IS GIVING ZAHEER KHAN A WRONG OUT AND SACHIN A WRONG OUT U WOULD REALISE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT STORY IF EVEN 40 % OF THOSE WRONGOUTS AGAINST SACHIN WERE AVERTED..
THINK BEFORE U SAY

I think you have not understood the context in which current protest is being is rised. India's complaint is not against one or two decisions. Basically there was not consistency in the approach. Why third umpire has not been called for close line decisions? In the tense situation you cannot refer to opposition captain about the decision instead of third umpire. Basically it is all about the approach towards umpiring and players attitude that has been condemed. If you talk those decision Sachin had so much of bad decisions even in recent Engalnd tour and also in so many occasions including in the previous aussie tour. India had no complaints. This time also it was decided not to complain about the umpiring after some initial thoughts, but it was done as the follow up of rogue behaviour of the aussies.

ponting should learn from vishwanath
by murali radhakrishnan on Jan 10, 2008 01:56 PM  | Hide replies

In one of the matches in Bombay, G R Vishwanath called the batsman who is not out but the umpire gave him out and in that test India lost. Even today I remember because of such an great incident. Whereas the other way round, Ponting lost all images.

When people are giving ranking for the best team in the world, why they start giving ranking for the worst behaviour of the team it will definitely help ascertain the team's worthness.

IN Sydney test India lost but not even a single person in the world would have felt sorry for that game.

Your response please.

The president of the West Indies Cricket Board has attacked the ICC's decision to remove Steve Bucknor from umpiring in the Perth Test as being an "extreme" reaction.
In a letter to ICC president Ray Mali, Julian Hunte compared the situation to the way the ICC handled a similar complaint lodged by the WICB during West Indies' tour to Australia in 2005. "The ICC's reaction by Dave Richardson [the ICC's cricket manager] was to acknowledge that errors were made but to insist that 'the overall standard of umpiring has improved in recent years, particularly with the advent of the elite panel'.
"It would be interesting to know what made this situation any different." The match referee during that series was Mike Procter, who is again at the center of the storm following the Sydney Test.

Sydney, Day 5, 2nd Test Match, Australia Vs India
Ponting, fielding at silly point, dived to hold a ball that ballooned off Mahendra Singh Dhoni's pads;
he got to his feet and vociferously claimed the catch, though replays at the time indicated he had grounded the ball.
That could have been justified as happening in the heat of the moment - but later in the day,
after play, and with the benefit of video replays to draw from, Ponting not only maintained that he had caught it clean,
but suggested that an Indian journalist who had questioned the catch "shouldn't be standing there".
"There's no way I grounded that ball," Ponting told a press conference. "If you're actually questioning

Raghav
buckner and umpiring
by Raghav on Jan 10, 2008 01:53 PM

When venkatraghavan was umpiring for around 60 tests did few mistakes and realised that it is time to say goodbye to umpiring, he left happily. There was no grudge.

Bucker is too old and sunil gavaskar is the chairman for selecting the umpires for the test matches and he should have seen that buckner is too old and he is erroring in many rulings.

The incident comes to light only when a party is affected more and if the test match was over by four days no body would have cried like this.

Because it was won on the penultimate over, and everyone was watching it live, the effect on the result was more. That is why there is a hue and cry.

India should happiliy ended the series with 2-0 and walk away from playing the remaining. Also unless and untill the australian show their integrity and sportsmanship in few series, then only india should think of playing with australia.

You forget that the main reason why the international panel of umpires was introduced was because of the consistently poor standard of umpiring in india by indians against international teams.

VASUDEVAN V
Greatness!!
by VASUDEVAN V on Jan 10, 2008 01:45 PM

Yes, Mr.Ponting your side may be viewed as one of the all time great sides in terms of cricketing abilities. However, as far as boorish behaviour goes, certainly your side will go down as the worst team of all times. And the only teams that can compete against your side are the earlier Australian sides lead by others. There is no competition outside Australia for this. Many Australians take pride in saying that Australian cricketers play the game hard and fair. Hard, OK. But, fair? Come on, do not make us laugh. Perhaps your definition of `fair' is different from what others perceive. The word `fair' does not refer to the colour of the skin (though that is what has landed Harbhajan in trouble in the whole `monkey' business)here, but fairness of play. Perhaps you are confused between the two. Most of the Australian cricketers are fair (being white, this comes naturally to you) but your behaviour on the field is certainly not fair. One should command respect and not demand it through press conferences and newspaper columns. However much you try, with you as captain, your team can never command respect. You certainly are a great cricketing nation, but your team is very boorish and no amount of denying by you is going to change that!
