hearing will be more interesting than a test cricket match. Possibilities are numerous. Bhajji is lying and did call him a monkey, Symonds is lying and bhajji never called him a monkey, possibility of a misunderstanding as bhajji said something like 'teri maaki' to provocation by Symonds. Sachin has also put his reputation on line by saying Bhajji never said it, what if Bhajji said it? Hayden who reportedly heard Bhajji calling symonds a monkey has also put his reputation on line, or hold it it could be a preplanned strategy by Aussies to get rid of Bhajji since he is a pretty volatile guy and is easily riled. After seeing how strongly all the parties are adamant they are speaking the truth I am incline to believe it was a misunderstanding, anything else is a disaster for either Australian cricketers or Indian cricketers. I am keeping fingers crossed but I am sure of one thing if Bhajji lied he should be banned forever from Indian cricket team.

I am sure Bhajji said 'Bhain ki' which andrew symonds took it as monkey. Andrew felt it was monkey because while in India our people had passed the same remark on him and he must not know what Bhajji meant by 'Bhain ki'
If Bhajji is smart enough and had called monkey then he can use this tactic that he called 'Bhain ki'. Every punjabi use this slang so often that they speak after every sentence. Especially when they are agitated

Understand the gravity of the its not the arrow which needs to be punished it the man behind the bow who is the cause of the arrow. The arrow hurt and probably left a mark! why did Pointing take this matter seriously and report it to the match refree? even after Kumble discused this issue with Pointing after the 3rd days play, 1. Andrew Simmions is Points best buddy ( he start to show in the Aussies after Pointing became captain) and Pointing wanted to get rid of Harbajan too; there is no doubt that some thing serious happend that is why the indians couldnt concentrate on the 4th day and let Aussies plunder runs in the 2 innings. to back up their own teams cause and reinforce respective teams put in the best people like Sachin and Hayden so the motive was there but why they did it is another story??

That is what is to be cleared; to compound to the problem the Indian has Bucknor in between who was doing is routine damage against India but it stood out this time.

Bucknor, Cricket Australia - Something Fishy!
by ramanag on Jan 10, 2008 06:09 PM

To me Bucknor seems as much, if not more, pro-australia as he is anti-india. He seems to stand in all their important matches and always plays his part in giving the opponents out at the slightest opportunity while doing the exact opposite when the Aussies bat. No wonder Aussies bat aggressively - they know they won't be given out. Bucknow gave Tendulkar out lbw twice in the last series between the two countries down under. He has done the same to Sangakara in the recently concluded series where Sangakara was battting beautifully and was closing in on his double century. Remember the recent World cup final against Australia and Srilanka, there also Bucknor was one of the umpires and had Srilankans play in near darkness which they eventually lost from a position of strength. I think Cricket Australia has stuck a deal with Steve Bucknor hence allowing their batsman to play with freedom and knowledge that the umpire is on their side as well. If I am not mistaken ICC's Malcom Speed is an Australian as well. So, it isn't all that hard to get Buknor to stand in for Australia's most important matches, is it? Also, it is no wonder CA has voted against Referral system being introduced into cricket. They say the so called "human element" is important to the game. Why wouldn't they when the so called human element helps them win matches.

Truly speaking
by on Jan 10, 2008 05:33 PM

What Ponting desires and what he does in reality is at variance. He wants Australian Cricket team to be most loved, it is very difficult to see that happening. Most of the great people and players who represented Australia, in the past have cried themselves hoarse stating that they feel ashamed by the behavior exhibited by the Australian team on the field. The most respected Mr. Peter Roebuck has rightly called for Ponting to be removed. The IPL should also withdraw their contracts with the Australian players more especially Ponting, Symmonds, Hayden, Clarke, McGrath, and others who have tried to act smart on the field and off it.

Its over guys.. Indians should move on!
by Parthesh Shanbhag on Jan 10, 2008 05:30 PM  | Hide replies

I think after all that has happened AUS players have definitely learnt their lesson!

AUS have shown very bad a attitude during the game which is not a AUS attitude for Sure! AUS have always been known for their sportsmanship
spirit!

But there is no point in making whole of this such a big issue that Cricket as a game Looses out!

Our Board has made demands which is goin to be met for sure!

So we need to move on with sporting sprit!

In the end its simple: AUS have learnt their Lesson and IND got their revenge!

What lesson have they learnt. It is said somewhere that CA chief and player union say they stand firmly behind Ponting, this means that they support his cheating and his abrasive behavior and all that transpired in the match, the result of the match and series would have been different. Sporting spirit and all the rules and being gentlemen etc is good, but it is really fruitful only when both the concerned parties follow the principles. Initially Bucknor made some glaring mistakes, Indians overlooked them, and accepted them, the same Bucknor made more errors against Indian team. This only indicates that things do not change just like that. Even now if the charges against Harbhajan cannot be proved, symmonds, ponting, and CA all should be sued and made to apologize.

Hi Parthesh:

It's kind of funny how you say "Our Board has made demands which is going to be met for sure! So we need to move on with sporting spirit!"

The sporting spirit? Which would have had the board scrap the series if the demands were not met? That's no sporting spirit mate.

In fact sporting spirit itself means that even if things go against you, you take it with a pinch of salt and move on.. Not hold ICC to ransom.

Cheers.

Ponting-current team be regarded, in the light of history, as one of the all-time great Aussie sides
by Rushin Patel on Jan 10, 2008 05:30 PM

You and your team cannot be regarded as one of the all time great team as current team doesnot have any sportsmanspirit. they play to win at any cost even if it comes illegal doesnt matter. In my life watch of cricket for last ten years i have never seen sachin tendulkar standing at Creez in such crucial decisions if he has knicked a ball even before Umpires decision he admits and start walking. Thats the spirit of Cricket Game. You people doesnot admit "fare" but doesnot walk if umpire doesnot give decision against you Very Stupid.....

I've always wondered why everyone seems to have concentrated on Damien Martyn's 'pushing' Sharad Pawar during last ICC Champions' Trophy presentation, when a far worse thing happened. Captain Ponting arrogantly 'beckoned' Pawar to bring him the tropy - as tho' calling for soup from a waiter....This gesture, coming from the team's captain, should have been highlighted, but it somehow got missed.....
