Geoff Boycott comment on Harbhajan issue
by samit vats on Jan 11, 2008 12:12 PM  | Hide replies

Read a very interesting comment from Geoff Boycott on Harbhajan issue.Boycott says-"Well, players will support their own colleagues because that is human nature. But the Australians complaining? Jiminy Cricket! Some of them, not all of their players but some of them, in recent times have been some of the worst at sledging opposition players. So to hear them complaining is a bit of a laugh. What can a coloured man - as Harbhajan is - say to another coloured man that is racial? I'm interested in that. I can understand one coloured man insulting another, but I'm not clear about how you can be racial."

To all Indian bashers
by Vijay on Jan 11, 2008 12:03 PM

Australia started the tradition of whining. Back in 1930 when the world's greatest batsmen including Bradman and Neil Harvey could not handle leg-side bowling tactics engineered by Douglas Jardine. And Aussies went so far as to threaten diplomatic relationships with Britain over cricket. Allan Border threatened to walk out of a Pakistan tour in 1989 when similarly crooked umpiring as witnessed in Sydney angered them. Of course they wanted to move out as Aussies were losing mostly due to umpiring. Infact when Dravid was given out I was stunned had never seen such a poor decision and I immediately switched off television, it was painful to watch 2 incompetent umpiring ruining a good test match. I knew then that India is going to lose.

Aus cricket Umpires

Why cant ICC make an inquiry panel on umpires whether they have made money by giving results in Aus favour? Whtr they have contacted any bookies....

bookies are second line of suspects - first one should be Rickey Ponting. There is a strong motive for him to fix the match - to achieve a record of 16th consecutive victory.

Match Fixing
by Kamal on Jan 11, 2008 11:45 AM  | Hide replies

The entire episode indicate that the match could have been fixed by Rickey Ponting with umpires (first, second and third), referee and proctor. BCCI should insist ICC to view the entire episode from match fixing angle. Further, Mr. Buckner's bank accounts should be scrutinized for evidences.

Not necessarily. But that the umpires are appointed by the host cricket boards, they are already under obligation. So they choose who can do the job best for them and comes free.As simple as that.

Cricket, as the Australians would have us play it.
by S Chandra on Jan 11, 2008 11:33 AM  | Hide replies

This is how the Aussies want cricket to be played. You know hard and fair.

An example (Harbhajan walks out to bat) -

Ponting : Welcome to the crease you descendant of a truck driver. How's your mother and my kids ?

Bhajji : What ?? Is this the way you people talk to visitors to your country ?

Ponting : Yes, its called the hard but fair way of playing cricket, you c**nt.

Bhajji : Well, Im going to report this to the match refree.

Ponting : Dont bother, we already bought him. Btw, Im going to kill your family tonight.

Bhajji : This is an outrage.

Ponting : Yes, but as you can see, I havent made any racist comment so far, u illegitimate descendant of a toilet sweeper.

Bhajji : This is too much, get lost u monkey !

Ponting : Waaaaah !How dare you call me a monkey ?? Im going to run to the match refree now.

Bhajji : What ! What about all the things u just called me ?

Ponting : You cant blame us for that, we are Australians u see. Its in our culture to call people abusive names u c. We cant help it.

And since I cant face your bowling, Im allowed to make up false charges to have u removed from the series.

Thats our definition of playing cricket the "hard" way. We have to swear in order to play our cricket. I mean everyone knows in this world that unless you swear like an uneducated sailor you cant play tough cricket. You're in trouble mister for calling me a monkey.

... and the rest is history ..

Our player are trying to make it bitter
by Raman on Jan 11, 2008 10:26 AM  | Hide replies

Every day the story keeps changing, first Harbhajan didnt say it then next day Kumble says he offered a apology even if he didnt say it,then next day its Symonds who started it(how can he start it when it was Bhajji who hits Brett Lee in his butt, man thats gross) and then next day Sachin sends SMS and next day he hasnt sent a SMS,guys dont u see it,these guys are lieing, most of these things happened during match fixing times as well,he said you said finger pointing.
Atleast 3 players would have their effigies burnt namely Dhoni,Dravid and Yuvi for the way they have played so far and now it is all diverted.
They are making it sound as if no match ever was decided by bad umpiring, what about SK Bansals generosity to Bhaji in 2001 series and AV Jayaprakash and so many other umpires cheating? And have Indians never started a sledge, what about the recent one between Mohd Yousuf and Kumble?
Guys dont support these liars and cowards, they want the match fees as well as pretend as if they want to abandon tour, they are just bunch of losers finding a good excuse. Why even play Aussies if they think they are cheats and sledgers?
Did Aussie cheat in 2003 WCUP final or those ODI matches theyve been winning against us for ever?

Okay Kamal:

Go on believing the match fixing story if you want to. It's your privilege.

But tell me, did Ricky also fix the match with Bhajji, RP Singh and Ishant for getting out within a space of 5 balls to lose the game for India?

Because that is what happened ultimately, isn't it?

Last 3 wickets in 5 balls succumbed to pressure of last moment as we all know aussies are good at creating an atmosphere of mental pressure. But when it came to Dravid and Ganguly getting out, umpires were totally blinded, the motive is still a mystery which would come out in near future. I used to love the way Aussies used to play cricket but not after this sydney test.

First of all The match refree should be penelized by taking the side of Australia, than the The Captain of Austrailia and the his team mates should be banned. This is the BCCI who is bowing there head in front of ICC. Let BCCI should take harsh steps against this injustices. Bukner should be terminated from the ICC penel.Let the seniour players should be trained by the ICC as umparies.

Right Track
by vsgiri on Jan 11, 2008 10:16 AM

Dravid , the only player to have helped India on right track but was not recognised by Indians. Only outside cricketers showed respect for Dravid. In this way we should be ashamed calling Aussies Racist. We are ourselves racist. Dravid was given a wet pitch and India lost the match at Eden where the crowd was supporting SA's. Dravid was also shown Chappel and Tendulkar commented after reaching Bombay that we have returned from an alien land.
