Dear friends,
can anyone explain me about the IPL's program - whether they will conduct matches between different state teams in India or in any other manner. I simply confused abt their plans. One more thing is that has any contract been signed between IPL and other cricket governing bodies. Cant a player opt out of this League?

Hello friends... I was just going through the comments posted by all cricket lovers... One thing I noticed is that everybody is commenting against Agarkar... FYI, I am not a Agarkar fan... But, we should understand that One Day and T20 cricket is all about hitting 4's and 6's... everybody enjoys watching big 6's and 4's... and we should not forget all fast bowlers either they bowl during first 15 overs and last 10 overs, during which oppositions always trys to score more than 8 runs per over due to field restrictions and slog overs... Please dont compare fast bowlers economy rate with other bowlers... and one more point, our fielding is not as good as Aus or NZ to support the bowlers... As per my knowledge, Agarkar has claimed around 290 ODI wickets in around 180 matches... this strike rate is pretty good... it tells you all... Lets hope that all Indian players performs well in the IPL tournament... All the best to them!...

Sanjay,

They are investing their money, not throwing them away. if you get rich will you be intended to give away your cash to poor people?

This is not a team to win but for publicity
by Ibrahim Sheikh on Feb 21, 2008 01:58 PM

Hi guys
This is a team not to win but only for publicity and promote their companies and thru media and TV they will maximize their sales, win or loose purpose surved and they will get double of their investments in tv rights which they are going to sell as we millions of subcontinent cricket fans pay the price to entertain and waste precious time

IPL is Satta Bazar of cricket!!!!
where is the parity...
It is like match fixing by Lalit Mody of BCCI

Ricky's ponting's price far below Manoj Tiwar!!
Kumble is far cheaper than Suresh Raina!!!
This is a Big bullshit!!!
Zaheer Khan far cheaper than Kaif!!!!!????
There is no merir in the prices offered to some new comers whereas many great players are sold cheaper!!!
it happens only in India that a maruti model is paid far more than a Mercedes!!!It is simply idiotic!!!!
BCCI is running IPL like a casino !!!!
Paise ke Khatir cricket ka mazak Banaya

I think, after IPL, indian team will be like England team. Anywon can beat us. No player want to stay more on the wicket. Last match againts Srilanka was almost lossed. Thnaks to Dhoni, he has shown patience of staying on the wicket.

Only 4 foreigners can play in a match.
So out of 7 foreign players Chennai got. They can utilise only 4 at a time.

by Lalua on Feb 21, 2008 12:26 PM  | Hide replies

What kinda team this one is..This is the weakest team in the league though bought by Mallya with hefty price. It's look like team for test. Dravid, Kumble, Jaffer, Kallis, Chanderpaul...Somebody should convey it to mallya that he will be the loser eventaully.

Hey friends,

Now it is confirmed!!! Mallya always prefers to be slow!

He bought the slowest team (Force India) in F1!!

Now, he bought a test team for T20!!!

Funny guy, Isn't it?! Totally out of his mind!

Lalua....wait and watch....they will be the cup winners... T20 is not abt going and smashing the ball ...its also abt pacing the innings...they have grabbed good bowlers too...

Hybd looks strong on paper for sure...reason being...power hitters in the team...but also patient players like rohit sharma, chamara silva etc..

Chennai too rocks...with Hayden...god knows why they bid so low for him...he is the most succesful foreign batsmen in India

But I still stick on to my words...Bangalore will take the cup.

ITs business for franchise owner
by cracy on Feb 21, 2008 12:09 PM

THe bidding might look bad but the idea is to get the money. For me it doesn't look surprise to see aussies not getting much money simple because the current player are all old so they are not long term assest to add to this they might not be available for the all the matches especially the big guns like pontingm hayden lee. A reality check for indian too Dhoni getting the biggest money pot simply coz he is the captain of team india and is definately talentted and is thinking cricketers and with his running between the wicket he defiantely look very fit from commercially aspect. A lot of fringe player of team india also got a good deal for the reason this players will be available for playing almost all the time and the injury concern is also less plus the pan indian commercialization. With lot of them quite young franchise owner are definately looking beyond 3 years after which these player becomes as assest that can be sold off much like the european football clubs concept. Probably that explains the reason of high pay to youngster compare to old hands. My team is definately hyderabad and chennai which have looked into cricketing skill more than the players marketing skills. A nice contest on hand
