The Roman Age is back. Like Gladiators, cricketers will now fight for survival (read the big buck). Dohni gone for 1.5 Million USD, Ishant for 950,000 USD %u2026 Did I heard some one saying India is a poor nation.
I APPEAL PEOPLE OF INDIA DONT WASTE TIME IN WATCHING IPL 20/20 PLAYERS PLAYING FOR THEIR MONEY AND ORGANIZERS FOR THEIR SUM? NO BODY IS PLAYING FOR THEIR PEOPLE OF COUNTRIES, THIS IS PURELY NOT SPORT

I absolutely agree with this. I feel the reason why we watch cricket with such an interest is because the team plays for the country and the game becomes more interesting. I feel the game wont be followed like a religion any more, at least for these kind of lucrative played for money matches. Its money all the way, but nothing for the viewers.

CELEBRITIES ARE VERY MUCH INTRESTED IN BUY PLAYERS AND MAKING MONEY HOWEVER AREN'T INTRESTED IN HELPING POOR IN INDIA?
ITS ACTUALLY A GREAT INSULT, PLEASE JOIN ME AND MAKE NOISE ABOUT THE SAME!!!
In ICL you do see lots of domestic players... so u see here the domestic players get some chance... in IPL... there aint any first class domestic players ... ha ha ha.. what a joke ... IPL
There are a number of problems with the 20/20 selections of players and their prices. Firstly, the whole process of buying and selling players appears to be very demeaning. The dignity of the game and sports appears to have been compromised.
Secondly I also wonder that with the ICL, & IPL, what will happen to International ICC tournaments? Who will watch the Ranji trophy matches?
Thirdly, I feel that soon the ICL and IPL investors will go bankrupt. This is so, as it is not as much the game of cricket alone that excites the crowd, as the national pride that gets linked with it in International ICC competitions. The team loyalty, consisting of players all mixed up from various regions of India and Internationally, will be difficult to develop or retain for a long time. The World cups will always carry much more rivalry and exitement for the viewing public that a team consisting of a hotch potch of national and International players. The marketeers will have to really sell each team and develop the team loyalties internationally. It will also be hard for players to overcome their national loyalty to develop stronger team loyalties in such a mixture of nationality, and regional associations.

Truly said. Will people from Jharkhand support Chennai just because Dohni will play from their side? Club football is popular in European countries not because of big players, but because of the amount of rivalry between the clubs. People are attached to the clubs, not players. If a big player switches sides, his fans don%u2019t. They were and will be with the clubs. Let%u2019s wait and watch what good IPL would do for Cricket India. But for sure it%u2019s doing a lot of good to corporate India.

Hello friends... I was just going through the comments posted by all cricket lovers... One thing I noticed is that everybody is commenting against Agarkar... FYI, I am not a Agarkar fan... But, we should understand that One Day and T20 cricket is all about hitting 4's and 6's... everybody enjoys watching big 6's and 4's... and we should not forget all fast bowlers either they bowl during first 15 overs and last 10 overs, during which oppositions always trys to score more than 8 runs per over due to field restrictions and slog overs... Please dont compare fast bowlers economy rate with other bowlers... and one more point, our fielding is not as good as Aus or NZ to support the bowlers... As per my knowledge, Agarkar has claimed around 290 ODI wickets in around 180 matches... this strike rate is pretty good... it tells you all... Lets hope that all Indian players performs well in the IPL tournament... All the best to them!...

Sachin has not been sold! These players are not selling themselves. They are only offering their services as a cricketer for a sum of money.
Since IPL is going by the the English club league let us legalise betting as it is done in such countries. After the Packer Circus the fun has again started and instead of super series with super stars we will have a host of "exhibition matches" in the IPL circus.Let us sit back and watch the fun as long as it lasts. This fortunately has nothing to do with the game of cricket as we know and no replacement for the high voltage Australia Vs India test series which had the whole nation on eithe side up in arms every now and then.
Sports should be economy driven and the people who are giving entertainment to mass and sense of togetherness deserves high pay.
Cricket is like religion in INDIA. All come together in joy, pain & discussions. The country stops for this game .
Cricket is far better than politics and any other nation level events that thrive on dividing people.
Cricket is the one that brings people together.
This is good for economy and good for masses and good for business people.
Imagine people gathering in street corner cafe to watch and spend saturday night for 2 to 3 hours to watch there city team or there favorite team playing.
Good for local shops, generates spending and help generating employment.

good one mate. hope the stupids who dont understand the basics of economics read this.
Cricket was always a gentleman's game but now its businessman's game. Players get a base salary anyways. The amount of money pooled into this just goes to show india has so much wealth. But how about putting all this together for the poor, needy and welfare of the society. The only thing i can see is rich getting richer and black getting converted into White.
