IPL SHOULD BE LIVE ON DD NATIONAL
by vishnu on Apr 16, 2008 01:53 PM

BAECAUSE THIS IS NEW FORMAT OF THE CRICKET AND IT SHOULD BE LIVE COVERAGE ON DD NATIONAL.

IF THEY ARE GIVING THE TELECAST AUTHORITY TO SOME RIVATE NEWS CHANNEL THEN WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IPL AND ICL.

THE IPL IS PASSED BY THE ICC.

It was a mad knee jerk reaction to ICL
by Michael Ponnudurai on Feb 20, 2008 01:37 PM

Gut feeling is that there will be a lot of excitement initially and all of this will disappear very quickly. There are no examples of sustained customer support to county cricket worldwide. India would be no exception even though the tournament is 20/20 and it is going to have foreign players.
The initial euphoria that builds up at the start, would die down very soon
By the time people realise it was too mad a scramble for too little or nothing, it could be too late for atleast some of the stakeholders.
This mad scramble for money, fame and limelight by a miniscule lot of India does not fit the economic milieu of the country. Anything that does not fit the economic status of the country will die down soon

first he should have made sure of a couple of venues - proper cricketing grounds, pull in the crowds - get the ball rolling - use zee tv to air the matches for free - once people are hooked get it on pay tv. they did everything wrong, and now ipl will learn from their mistakes.

nobody has the time

with the cricketing calender filled with so many international games, there is hardly any time left for people to watch these inconsequential games.i mean who cares which city wins.only the games involving the nation are worth watching.and you are not going to unearth any real talent for the future from these games.a comment by chandrasekhar made it clear where the priorities lie.he said they are looking for players who had hit the maximum no of sixes in domestic cricket to play for their team.indirectly,he told that they are looking for good sloggers.and with only 20 overs to play and seven top international players in each team, the domestic guys will hardly get a chance to showcase their talent.in short the tournament is for people who have enough time to waste and nothing to do in their lives.

IPL maybe good only if done properly
by on Feb 19, 2008 10:40 PM

Out 0f 33 cricketers singed up saw no Dravid or Laxman's names, or I could be mistaken.

This will imptovr cricket if palyed in conjucntion with National tournamnets. Young players will gain experience and omited players can show their game. IPL if run properly can help boost cricket and help those who want to excell.

If not properly run will spell disaster for cricket. Must use all cricketing avenues like Ganguly was suggesting and not just show case in one or two locations.

Most in the country would like to see competitive cricket at the highest level.

IPL
by down_under on Feb 19, 2008 10:38 PM

Already we are swamped with cricket 24/7 and all those stupid reporters and analysis. On top of that, IPL in the middle of April to May-June when the temp. will be 35 .
As a pure commercial venture it is fine. But where will the money come from? $300K per cricketer for 8 weeks! Gate attendence, black money or an average consumer buying shampoo and moped? If it does not groom budding Indian players by providing them opportunity to interact and learn from the greats, it's a waste of time and money. With batsmen friendly pitches for entertainment, our standard will remain same in international cricket.

THIS "MONKEY SHOW" CALLED IPL IS BOUND TO BE A SUPERFLOP.ONLY INTERNATIONAL CRICKET CAN GENRATE INTEREST IN PEOPLE.NO ONE WOULD WASTE ITS TIME & MONEY TO WATCH RETIRED(READ TIRED)PLAYERS LIKE WARNE,MCGRATH ETC.IT ALSO PUTS QUESTIONMARK ON SACHIN,SOURAV & RAHUL.IF THEY CONSIDER THEMSELVES UNFIT TO PLAY IN 20-20 WORLD CUP THEN HOW WILL THEY MANAGE THIS.EITHER THEY R TRAITORS
OR IPL IS ABOUT NON SERIOUS CRICKET.KUDOS TO MICHEAL CLARKE & MITCHELL JOHNSON FOR REFUSING TO BECOME MONKEYS

ipl will be success...

looks like prahlad kakkar has been paid to voice this particular opinion of his by, we all know who, to bring doubt in people's mind about ipl and its success. but the fact will be icl will bite the dust in about 2 or max 3 yrs from now.

bcci has not brought this to train our younger lot. there are many camps and tours that are taking care of the training. This is pure entertainment. and eventually when ipl will get accomodated in icc's FTP, it will be even more popular than ind pak or ashes kind of series...

Ranjeet - Atleast ICL had some interest in promoting and providing exposure to young and new talent, while ensuring that they earn a decent living. BCCI has done absolutely nothing for domestic cricket, for training, for developing fast pitches, for taking care of past national and ranji players. Suddenly they were threatened and they used their muscle (illegally and unfairly) to ban ICL players and use their clout to promote IPL which is just entertainment and money focussed.
