Dhoni, keep your head high, I support and admire you
by Rajnarain Gouda on Feb 20, 2008 09:36 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni, you are a rare jewel in the crown of Indian cricket. Let the whole world talk rubbish about you. Let the media and experts criticise you day in and day out. Let fools and specialists question your decisions.

It is said that those who are focussed on their job, mission do not get distracted by such side scenes.

March on, unmindful of all these garbage.

I must confess that initially (when I heard you speak after T20 cup win) I also felt that you are an average captain who is propped and prompted by backdoor operators like professional managers. I thought your views were nothing but their scripts.

But once I heard your reply yesterday after your team's win over SL, regarding changing the batting order and bringing Pathan down the order, I was greatly impressed and understood that you are a man of true mettle.

Of course your vision, ideas, clarity and insight into matters cricket is beyond the comprehending capabilities of ordinary mortals masquerading as super experts on the game. I pity them.

Mr. Gouda. I sincerely hope Dhoni doesn't lose further matches. Coz if he does, your tune might change.
Rare jewel might become "Rear" something..
Focus on job might become "adamant" on his viewpoint/doesn't listen to others..
His vision/ideas/clarity might become "nonsense dreams"..

Yeah. I seriously hope he continues as a winning captain. For his sake, and yours too..

Dear Mr. Indian,
The FURTHER IN Yr message seems to suggest that Dhoni has been losing matches. This is not borne out by records. In fact his record would have been even better if he had taken the bold decision of leaving out players who are more a baggage than contributors long back. But there is time for everything. I see little possibility of Dhoni losing too many matches in future.
Did you notice that the great Saurav Ganguly used to win matches and finally lose out in finals only. It was because of sabotage born from internal rivalry. Dhoni is therefore entirely right in eliminating such potential saboteurs for building a match winning side.

Hey Ashish:
Let's all take balanced views here. That's what I was trying to tell Gouda.. That's what I'll tell you.
For your information, AFTER getting rid of the baggage, India lost to SL in this very tri-series, and then they lost again to Australia, in this very tri-series.
So take the cold with the warm, take the good with the not so good. Don't over praise to convert people in angels, and don't over blast to convert people into baggage either.. :-)
That's my simple message. If you can understand it. As to your very high expectation of "I don't see Dhoni losing too many matches".. well, it remains to be seen. Have you already made plans to watch Dhoni lift the VB cup? I haven't. I am taking it one match at a time, and enjoy good cricket - irrespective of who wins.
Cheers

Thanks for yr views Indian. U forgot to mention the wins over Sri Lanka and Australia in this very tri-series. The defeat to Sri Lanka was caused by divine intervention. I am sure u will agree with this view. According to Dhoni, but for his run out (caused by his injury) India wd hv won against Australia. We hv to see how much truth is there in such a claim in the match on the 24th. I am not too sure about Dhoni lifting the Cup but I wd certainly be shocked if India does not make to the final and after entering final, goes down tamely.

Every team needs atleast three to four match winners in the team.Their performances are seen over a period of time and not by mere two-three matches.Like Yuvraj,Sehwag is a utility player and a match winner. Why Dhoni is avoiding him is a big question. Is he scared of loosing captaincy to Sehwag. The players like Rohit Sharma,Robin Uthappa,P.Kumar are finding favour at the expense of players like Sehwag and Raina.Dhoni should realise the importance of match winners in the team and leave aside his whims and fancies and even jealousies in team selection.

It is high time Mr.Robin Uthappa has scored some good runs instead he just keep on going with captains rock support. While players like Suresh Raina,Manoj Tiwary are warming the side bench, how we can give this much opportunities. His V style batting and strange foot work will not give runs adding a recent form slump in domestic seasons where he just averaged below 25.

Robin Uthappa is no longer earned a position in indian team at the present scenario where Suresh Raina,Manoj Tiwary are warming the side bench. How ridiculous is this?He has not been performing for a long time. Will his supporters can single out his performances except one match winning knock against England and one in debut match. That's alll about Uthappa. He has to go to Domestic tournaments and gain more experience and should come back like Kaif,Parthiv,Raina.I am not against Uthappa but he is out of form and he should be taken care, give some opportunities and throw him forever. He has to come back but now he should be out.

Ricky ponting should be thrown out of the team as he is useless just like Sachin who hasnt made a 50 in this series. Isnt it? Shaun Pollock is one the worst players in the world n so is all south african n newzealanders n england players as they have not been able to win the world cup for their countries as some hypocrites critisizes sachin for this point. Great brain lara is also a bad cricketer who played only for money n Adam gilcrist who has been a part of 3 world cup winning teams played for charity.

But thse graet players like Lara,Pollok have retired acnowledging their form. They have not played 400 ODI.

ricky pontings form is bad only in this series. But Tendulkar showing his bad form from many years.
But Tendulkar with his average form still continues to play. he scores a good knock once in every 10 matches, then continues to play badly for next 10 matches. He plays in each & every match without any outstanding performance, while other players are dropped due to their bad form. Why this biasness.

he playes for his personal records and money.

Tendulkar sucks

Tell me, if Sachin plays once in 10 innings, then he has really played only 40 great innings out of his 400?
So please explain how can one score 16000 runs in 40 innings? Does it mean he has hit Lara's 400 in every match?.. :-)
Oh beg your pardon, Lara scored 400 in a test.. not in a one day.
That REALLY makes Sachin something special.

Drop Tendulkar
by Indian on Feb 20, 2008 02:53 AM  | Hide replies

Drop Tendulkar. tendulkar has done nothing in this hole tournament. He is out of form now. He is playing for himself. When people criticise him, he plays one good innings and pepole say he is back in form. But in next matches he will continue his bad playing.
All his 16000 runs and centuries are worthless. He never helps the team to win a WorldCup ( Although he played in 5 worldcups in 18 years). In worldcup also he performs only in group matches. Then he failed in important matches like semifinal and final.
He is a greedy person, hungury for money only. He earns crores of rupees from endorsement deals. That is possible if he remains in the Indian team.
That is possible due to full support of Vengsarkar and Pawar (all from Mumbai). He scores godd score once in every
10 to 15 matches to keep his place and not for the team.

Players like Yuvraj only follows him, to remain in the team and earn money. He is creating a bad example for the younger players.

So drop Tendulkar for the benefit of Indian team and Cricket

And you guys think you're right and they're wrong. wow. sachin has taken Indian crikcet to the identity it has got. he is a perfect brand ambassador with a relatively modest and controversy free career. we expect so much from him that his mistakes are glorified so high. think about it.

Indian cricket is on the path of destruction due to Players like Tendulkar and pepoles like you, who worships and makes them DemiGods.
then these players thinks themselbves above the game and plays for personal benifits like money and creating records.
Tendulkars whole 18 year long career of 413 ODI matches, 41 centuris and 16088 runs shows this.
He earns crores of rupees ( more than 50 crore per year) and makes many centuries for himself. But he never able to win a WorldCup for India ( he played in 5 worldcups). His performance in important worldcup matches is pathetic. His runs and centuries are of no use.

In Test cricket also most of his Centuries he scored in the matches India either lost or drawn. Rahul Dravid has better contribution in test matches India has won.

In the test series when he scores the centuries, India lost one match and the other one is a Draw. In the 2004 series against Australia when Tendulkar scores a Double Century in the 4th test at Sydney< the match was Drawn.
His Runs and centuries are useless for the team, but these are help him to earn crores of rupees personally.

players like Ganguly, dravid & Yuvaj only follows the footsteps of the most experienced player of Indian cricet team and unwilling to drop themselves when ever they are out of form.

But as for your satisfacton ,he should play. the team does not matter to you as an individual player.

Tendulkar may be able to win a world cup if he continues to play f

Australia is a graet and sucessfull team, because they never allowed an Individual player to rise above the team. Where as it is opposite in India. Here players takes their place in the team for granted for their past performance. The other players only follows his path.

Tendulkar is playing aimlessly and for personal records. Most of his run and centuries are worthless.

Such was the intensity of pain... One who would have watched the match live would have known it... Still he continued till he scored 136 and took India to 20 runs adrift... Dont treat such a precious player like this... If he were born in oz or in eng they would have treated him in a completely different league... Grow up man... Tendulkar is a JINX for Indian team. With him playing India can never win a worldcup.

Thats why when he is out of 20-20 worldcup (by voluntarily or by selectors), India WON the WORLDCUP.

So DROP Tendulkar........for the benefit of Indian Cricket

Stop nonsense, your cricket knowledge is zero.if u really know about cricket, you won't send this post. see Mr fool in 2003 world cup sachin is the top scorer and he score more than 500 runs.but the rest didn' help. so how do win? cricket is team sport 11 players must play well it's not one man army.then u say he played well in croup match only.u must know one thing if he failed to score in croup match, india won't go through to semi or final(look at the lsat world cup, he failed to score and the team also failed to go next round.) So u r expect sachin to score hundred in every came. Can u let us know any player can do this in this world?

The truth abt sachin is he gets out bowled mostly in the early stages of innings, he needs time to settle, but with brute pace you can get him out. But sadly there were times when he was the only player to score in matches where every other player would fail. Its too harsh to blame him based on few performances, yes when he is bowled its a shame.

MATTER OF FACT..
by noshir irani on Feb 20, 2008 02:42 AM  | Hide replies

Look @ the South Africa side..Even they have plenty of youngsters (AB Deviliers,JP Dupiny,Johan Botha,Paul Harris,Albie Morkel & his twin brother,Bossman) 2 name a few..R they not performing??? Yes they r..

My point over here is it does'nt matter whether a team is full of new comers or xperienced players what really matters is the level of performance..Unfortunately that is not happening with India @ the movement & that is the most worrying factor right now..

As far as xperimenting with the youngsters is concerned, selectors was this the right time 2 do so??? I dont think so..Boy v r playing with the champions & the runners up in Australia not any state level team back home on the flat pitches..

If ever u wanted 2 check out the new comers there was a home series against South Africa coming up..Can't the selectors wait 4 this series 2 pass out & take the youngsters in the home series against SA..

I think dropping some of the senior players was the biggest mistake the selectors have done specially on such an important series involving champions & the runeers up..& FYI m not a traitor or something m a proud Indian but m really worried about the state of cricket right now..I just hope everything falls in place 4 Indian Team & even yest's win was nothing 2 celebrate about..V almost lost the match whereas v could have won it easily specially when Dhoni & Pathan were batting..

So friends don't get carried away with this win & hope & pray that in future all is well..

What a load crap? Didn't they win 2 matches.. won almost another match? Senior players when they played in Australia sucked every time. Ganguly/Dravid couldn't a thing in India against Australia. What are they going to do here? Instead of chasing 200 they will be chasing 250 thanks to bad fielding by oldies. Infact if these seniors had played INdia wuold have lost every single match.

Best place to test youngsters is places like Australia, South Afriac.. Not on jamshedpur pitches

They won those 2 matches because of the bowlers and not because of brilliant performances by those who have been called up to replace Dravid and Ganguly. Their lack of talent and application was in full display-- a sure shot win was converted to defeat. And the way they played, India could've very well ended up losing the ones they actually won.

tendulkar made 116 against Pakistan at chennai test and India LOST.
Tenduilkar scores a Double century against Australia at Sydney test in 2004 and the test was drawn.

you wants to tell when ever he plays well India looses the match
Tendulkar is also a bad failure against australia in 1999 worldcup and 2003 worldcup final.

For that reason he is a JINX & a CURSE fo indan team

Tendulkar is a JINX for Indian team. With him playing India can never win a worldcup.

Thats why when he is out of 20-20 worldcup (by voluntarily or by selectors), India WON the WORLDCUP.

Tendulkar never won the worldcup till date and he never will going to win it.

He failed in all the important matches of worldcup. Performance againt Australia in the world cup is pathetic.

Tendulkar is a JINX for Indian team. With him playing India can never win a worldcup.

So DROP Tendulkar........for the benefit of Indian Cricket

u r right.he learnt from sunny on how to focus on selfish desires.records, money but not on team interests.if he is really a team player he shd bat at no:4 in this tournament making the way for sehwag and gambhir to open.Dravid made such sacrifices but that insane, idiot pushed him out becoz he is not from Mumbai. No one can touch sachin becoz he is from mumbai and is very popular.PAWAR may also object to him being dropped.
