Excess of anything is bad!
by AJ on Feb 16, 2008 11:01 AM

Cricket is one of the things that binds Indians together... (we dont know if there was match fixing involved or not) but we liked watching india win and all felt bad when india lost...
but this IPL is making cricket an open business... Cricket will no longer be Indian thing... and the general public will loose interest eventually only the players will goto watch Cricket games.. like Ranji trophy matches.

Cricket is played all over india everyday but we watch only the International matches beacuse we feel India is playing..now with IPL teams are all mixed with players all over only playing for money... I know I will loose interest and probably not watch as much cricket when i know it is all done for business...

The whole harbhajan incident was resolved under the cloud of India's enormous financial clout. This reminds me of the Packer-driven World Series Cricket revolt of the 1970's. The epicentre of world cricket is now moving to India. It was always bound to happen as a result of the growing power of the indian middle-classand the economic development of India in general.

Rightly said and which is good for India in many ways.
1. Kids can take cricket as their career
2. Lots of entertainment during the peek summer (No schools, colleges)
3. Lots of jobs

The tikets for IPL matches are very steep but people will pay high just to get their evening entertainment...

It is an entertainment package...3 hours of slambang stuff, being seen with celebrities, the dancing girls and lots of good food stalls around...a couple of tea and coffee vending machines set up then complete the package as far as most families are concerned..

IPL is here to stay and will be huge success...

IPL is here to stay and change the way we look in to cricket.
We never know. Because of the population, EPL might bring their teams and play in our stadium to promote Football in India.

In USA, NFL/MLB always takes one of their game overseas every year to promote the American Football/Baseball.

Indian Selectors ingoring Yound players
by Avi J on Feb 14, 2008 03:32 AM

I don't know what the selectors are doing. Some of the young players have been completely ignored. I think they should at least be given a chance in a few games to represent the country.
Shikhar Dhawan
Cheteshwar Pujara

Shows how money minded Aussies are!!
by Folium of Descartes on Feb 14, 2008 03:25 AM  | Hide replies

It shows that at the end of the day, it is personal aggrandizement that matters more than donning national colors..and if there is a conflcit of interest, pursuing personal goals becomes the Hobson's choice!!

Neways, all the best to the new IPL format, a sort of format that will bring out the best in every player....
A little bit like Packer where the standard of cricket was believed to be of a very high level!!

that IPL planning started 2 years ago. He said this during the last one dayer between india vs sri lanka.

if this were true why do we still have these sort of problems?

shane Bond said in cricinfo interview that the contract offered by ICL had extensive details clearly but the one by IPL was very blank.

If the above were true then it shows the level of incompetency in BCCI and IPL.
