by bala murugan on Feb 13, 2008 05:10 PM  | Hide replies

Indian cricket is going well and crowd comes to Stadium to see Sachin not anyone else.So IPL is gonna to be a big flop for stadium crowd, but TV advertisement is gonna be a hit.

IPL will see cricket of a very high standard!!
by Surag Singh on Feb 13, 2008 05:05 PM

IPL has a galaxy of stars from Australia and India...it is bound to attract a global audience and rake in the money for television rights owners...

The brand of cricket will also be of a very standard due to the bidding and franchisee model...i see a very successful futre for IPL including a rip roaring inaugural year!!

Reverse Brain Drain in cricket
by navraj singh on Feb 13, 2008 05:01 PM  | Hide replies

This is a situation i am enjoying. This development clearly shows the might of the indian economy professionals from Australia and England Leaving their home land for earning a few more bucks in India. I dont care whether this IPL is a success or not.The Fact is India has arrived on the Globe and in a big way. i am sure BCCI people are shrewd businessmen and they will leave no stone unturned in making it a success. Secondly in this day and age of cunsumerism cricket has become like a well packaged entertainment product which must be deleivered to Masses for an alternative to the Daily Soaps on TV. so here are IPL and ICL. so this is just a Demand and supply scenario.

Tendul is not a match winner
by saravanakumar on Feb 13, 2008 04:34 PM  | Hide replies

Can any one tell last 5 years tendulkar won any test match his Score.
1.Adelide match - Dravid & Lakshman,
2.Perth test - Dravid (93), Laxman (72)
3.Westindies - Dravid (82&60)
4.South africa test - Ganguly (58)
5.Pakistan - Shewag (309)
6.Pakistan - Dravid (270)

Tendulkar's runs are never used to india for winning matches, his runs is using him for makinig money and records and advertisements.

He is giving yearly 100 crores to bcci for playing cricket.definetly he will play till his 50age. He play 250 test and 1000 Odi,

In 2015 Australia worldcup tendulkar and his son going to play for india,.
But India never win worldcup under tendul.

He already lost india for last 5 worldcups, he focus his record for 6'th.

saravanan kumar....u have any cricketing sense ???you are giving some junk test scores and you are drawing conclusions on sachin's one day career.
its waste of time in explainign the greatness of tendulkar to you.
just ask sehwag ...or just see the statement of rohit sharma three days taht it is sachin, who has suggested him changes, after he is on top of his game.
In this political and rubbish arena, he stands clean and has shown alsways, he does his best for cricket.
You can do one thing , you go and play with your bat rather than finding fault with sachin

While your stats are perfect and its true that most of India's overseas and Home wins are due to people like Dravid, Laxman, Sehwag and even Kumble / RP, Sreesant or Zaheer, one cannot take away that Tendulkar is one of the All Time greats.

But you are right that he rarely palys a big role in Winning causes.
There are many other great Indian victories achieved without a big contribution from Tendulkar like the famous Kolkata Test where Dravid and Laxman (281) scripted an improbable win.

Sachin is a great Batsman but not a performer in crucial times. Remember his second over dismissal even in the 2003 WC final against Australia??

Dude you are damn damn stupid & mindless person. India won all the matches ( except one ) before the final and it was because of Sachin only. Dont you remember the match against Pakistan... wasnt that crucial for you? He has tried his best everytime and no one is even close to his stature.. He has scored so many runs and you also know these many runs were not wasted. It helped india to be in a commanding situation so many times..

u madrasi f*cker, it was sachin who made 72 at perth. u conveniently forgot england where sachin made 91 in the test india won. and in south africa his 44 was more valuable than any thing else as it was made in toughest of situations. if u don't know cricket atleast get ur stats right.

Very right.. I have seen so many people who just want to forget whatever crucial innings sachin has played and whenever "such" people mention stats they will conveniently forget these knocks of his.

???? IPL sucess...
by Lucky on Feb 13, 2008 04:14 PM  | Hide replies

We enjoy cricket because our national pride is envolved.. and that is the reason Indo-Pak or now with Oz. even Test matches were interesting.

However we might not be interested wether Mumbai team or Calcutta team (Mukesh or Shahrukh's teams) wins. Even Ranji or Dulip Trophies are not interesting nor are watched much.

Besides when India was out of WC, rest of matches were boring

We relish when Sachin & Co. hits Shoib or Lee, but I myself cannot imagine them playing together.

This is my openion.. please comment

Shahrukh is just a miser. He is a money maker guy who always runs behind money. He never donated anything for charity. Now for just making money he invested his earnings in Cricket.

BCCI
by Rajesh Tiwari on Feb 13, 2008 03:44 PM  | Hide replies

The amount money generated by BCCI should be proportionately taken by Govt of India for the development of other sports like,Hockey,Athelatics. It is the moral responsibility of BCCI as well. I have a suggestion.BCCI should set up a power plant & sell it to national gris, for the development of nation.

Why?? Why should other boards not do the same work which BCCI has done? Why do they need charity? Why is PRD Munshi and KPS Gill at helm for so long when they can not deliver? There are enough Private people to give power to the country it is not a job of BCCI.

I fully agree with Vivek. Let the other sports bodies form their own plan of action. Why should BCCI give their money? Afterall BCCI is not a national sports body under MoS. Let them earn their own profits.

Let Mr.Bucknor too be called to ump IPL matches in India. Apart from 'earning' some money I will personally show him where that forefinger of his belongs!

It will be a headache. T20 and One day International are sucess as National level teams play, so spectators are excited.

If BCCI is thinking that bringing stars of other country would be a great success then they must know how movies like "Shalimar (1978)" and Mangal Pandey(2005) fell flat on the box office.

One was expecting that local cricket players who are talented but do not get chance will get a chance and talent will be visible, IPL is going to be movie full of stars, but no one likes it.

Thats the difference between ICL and IPL Aishwarya. No doubt, the BCCI may be corrupt, but they really know and have experience in "organizing" exciting tournaments and matches! ICL did not work for one primary reason.... Kapil Dev was there. He is a good for nothing guy... except in playing cricket. He doesn't know anything about anything else.

Sarith ,you are right Kapil Dev cannot be a well businessman. But he is the person who gave us the only WC.

If Symonds play in your state's team and Bhajji/Sreesanth from other state will bowl what will you love to see ? Ask yourself. IPL will be a big flop
