pitch problems

When Australia came to India in 2004,the Mumbai pitch in which the last test match was played had cracks and India won the match.Australia did not complain and said India played well.but these SA people are not able to digest the loss and so they are complaining to the match referee.SA are a mentally weak side.

Arun, you are wrong.

It is not the South Africans but the God of Double Standards Roshan Mahanama who complained. He and his team have thrived all these years on home grounds due to tailor made pitches. They have failed miserably outside Sri Lanka and only success outside Sri Lanka was in Pakistan and that against a disjointed Pak team. They have given some patchy performances in Tests over past 2 years. But during Mahanama%u2019s times, they were lions at home and a totally miserable lot out side of Sri Lanka.

Coming to your statement that Aussies did not complain about the Mumbai pitch is patently incorrect. The series started with a thumping Aussie win on a good Bangalore pitch. On an equally good Chennai pitch, India could have won the second test but for some really bad Umpiring that saved Aussies and the rains on day-5 with India having good chances of squaring the series.

Then due to the group rivalry in BCCI, the Bindra group gave a green top to Aussies for the third test. And Dada famously avoided playing the test. People derided Dada for this act. Dada did not miss the test because he was scared of fast pitches. He has done famously well on fast pitches against pacers before and after Mohali. It was because he was disgusted by the crab mentality of Indians. Which other country gives a pitch blatantly favoring opposition team? That too just because of internal politics. That was really bad taste. We all know how New Zealand prepares pitches that turn their a

We all know how New Zealand prepares pitches that turn their average seamers into monsters. But then we blame our batsmen for not batting well. But if touring teams falter on our turning tracks, we blame our pitches. This is just totally unfair.

Well India lost the third test and moved to Mumbai. On a slow turner from day-1, Aussies had the upper hand till the third day. They needed only 107 runs in second innings to win the series 3-0. Ponting was not complaining till then. And suddenly Murli Karthik came from nowhere and demolished them in second inning to clinch a famous win for India. Ponting%u2019s statement after the defeat betrayed the real Aussie mentality. They are the worst losers in any game anywhere on earth and Ponting is the WORST SPORTSPERSON ever born. He went to the extent of demanding an inquiry about the pitch, saying it was really frustrating to lose on this kind of a pitch. He totally negated India%u2019s clearly superior performance. Aussies clinched %u201Cthe last frontier%u201D only because of favorable Umpiring, Rain Gods and the squabbling BCCI buffoons.

But Smith and his men did not complain about the pitch and actually said: India played better than South Africa. This is the real story. Smith is a million times better Sportsman compared to Dirty Ponting. In fact, it is an insult to Smith if we even compare him to the Champion Manipulator Ponting.

Thank You!

The same applies to Ahmedabad pitch also
by LAKSHMI NARASIMHAN on Apr 16, 2008 07:30 PM  | Hide replies

In Ahmedabad, the Proteas bundled out India within 20 overs. Is the pitch not responsible there. Both the teams played in the same pitch and it has to be taken in the right spirit. Mahanama is not able to digest an Indian win and ICC should not take cognizance of his findings. BCCI should reject the charges

The Proteas, Mahanama, Ponting, the Aussies, the Aussie media, Hillary and Obama and all and sundry are unable to digest an Indian win. This is the most idiotic statement. Is BCCI the epitome of righteousness. The fact is we Indians are unable to digest any loss on the cricket ground. We are the ones who cry about poor umpiring, sledging, complaints, etc. It is as if the national honour is at stake. Dont be a moron, our cricketers are concerned about the money they make and not about anything else. Given a choice they will all opt to play in the ICL circus.

Kumar:

You are absolutely correct. Indians like to complain about everything. Look at Mahanama.

Doesn't even leave an inanimate object like the pitch. Complains against that too!!!

I don't know about Hillary, Obama etc. but you seem to be nicely complaining against everything else on this forum.. :-)

By any chance, are you Indian?

Kanpur Pitch
by Venkatesh Sekhar on Apr 16, 2008 07:21 PM  | Hide replies

If a Test match ends within 3 days respective Cricket Association and the BCCI is the looser by way of poor gate collection.

Also both trams played on the same pitch!! No two different pitches for 2 teams. Its level playing field only.

last time India visited New Zealand all test matches were played on under prepared wicket. It was assisting fast bowlers very well and being used to such conditions their batting was better than us!! Then no match referee commented on that.

Match can neither be suspended or abolished due to poor pitch condition etc., unless it is dangerous for the safety of the batsman.

Since Kanpur pitch was not at all come under the Danger category, there is nothing wrong in the pitch. If ICC takes any action or ban such stadium then it is just question of racial discremination!!!!!!!

U idiot!! Nobody is saying that India won the match because of the wicket. Anybody could have won. And if India had lost the match idiots like you would have been the first to blame the wicket ( Just like u are blaming NZ Wickets). Where is the question of Racial Discrimination here? (Do u even know what it means?? ) If a wicket has uneven bounce from day 1, How is it that u say that its a good wicket? Did u not see how Dravid got hurt? Wickets abroad, even though heavily in favour of bowlers have true bounce unlike Indian wickets.

Lack of Self belief
by Cricket Addict on Apr 16, 2008 07:19 PM  | Hide replies

In the recent past we have won matches quite convincingly in South Africa, England and Australia in their own backyard. Since no one complained we can assume that those pitches were not under prepared.

Then why do we resort to such practices, that too at home ? All for the sake of squaring up the series ? Lack of self belief, probably.

We want to see the Indian team win without giving guys like Mahanama (who has rarely supported team India) a chance to spoil the celebrations.
M S Dhoni rewarded someone for not doing his job properly.

"For the sake of squaring up the series"?

That's rich, Mr. Addict.... That you seriously believe that a pitch can be laid out in one week time frame... :-)

You might seriously believe that there was a big hole in the middle of Green Park, waiting to be filled up with the right kind of mud - depending upon the result from Ahmedabad....
But that's how pitches are NOT made..... it takes ages to convert a pitch from what it is to what you want it to be.

Mahanama might spoil the celebrations 1000 different ways. Do you mean we should be caring about covering off all those points he or someone else can invent to complain? Who cares?

And I like your first paragrpah - "Since no one complained we can assume that those pitches were not under prepared.."...
Your yardstick of right and wrong are dictated by others' responses or lack thereof.

Great!!
