Indian bowling coach ... helpin the bowlers in twenty20 world cup
by Nischal Maniar on Sep 18, 2007 03:22 AM  | Hide replies

This is what Venkatesh prasad (the bowling coach) must have said to all the indian bowlers: " Listen guys, this is an important series. So consistency is very important ... be consistent with your same bowling. I myself never bowled a yorker or a slower ball in my career ... infact all my balls are slower balls hardly touching 120 kph. So, follow my footsteps and keep on bowling the same balls so that batsman doesnt get confused. So Go ahead guys .... this is the twenty20 which means give 20 runs in one over.

Nischal, what prasad can do. Look at Agarkar, a useless bowler at the death end giving away 20 runs per over. What Dhoni can do. Agarkar was thrust upon by Pawar Sir and Vengsarkar, because he is the blue eyed boy of them and the son of maharashtra. Unless we be away from dirty politics, regionalism, bias, etc, we cannot better our performance in the days ahead.

Let me explain you, how India messed themselves up. Their calculation is pathetic. Dhoni is pathetic. While playing that match against Pakistan, Bangladesh already qualified. If we had lost the match against Pakistan, we would been in a group with Bangladesh, Australia and Sri Lanka and because we won the match, we are in England, New Zealand and SA group.

Now Pakistan has beaten Lanka, and with one more win with Banladesh, they will be in semi final, whereas we lost against New Zealand and one more loss will put India out of this world cup. And with England and south Africa, it is going to be very difficult. So please, give last farewell to India team and great Agarkar for his contribution to Indian team and taking this Indian cricket to new height. Pakistan lost the match deliberately to India, because they were already qualified for super 8 and unlike other world cup, where team takes that points in super 8, here no team carried points in the super 8 for beating other team. So now, there is high chances that India will be out of this world cup and Pakistan will surely go in for semi final at least? A win against Pakistan actually served bad for India. Now who are educated dumbs?

Jai BCCI, Jai Agarkar and Jai Pawar

Hello,
According to the rules, we would have been in the group with NZ,ENG and SA even if we had lost the match to Pakistan. Even if it made a difference, I would never recommend to loose a match.

Whatever the points India and Pak got in the first round, India will be in group E (with NZ/SA/Eng) and Pak in group F. It is not decided based on who topped their group but based on pre-tournament ranking (Pak ranked above India). So Pak didn't lose deliberately to get in a group with Bangladesh.

Easy.

A disaster in waiting
by Kprabal on Sep 18, 2007 12:05 AM

I think if Mahendra Singh Dhoni is made the captain of ODI team now that will be the worst thing to happen to him. With two very tough domestic series and one away series in Australia, India (by the they are playing now ) is almost certain to struggle irrespective of who the captain is. And after a few losses the same people who are advocating his name now will start shouting for his blood. The media will come down heavily on him and will disect each and every move made by him. People will attack his house in Ranchi led by some by obscure politician. By the end of the Australian tour he will be a broken man unsure of his next move. After a long time we have got a player in Dhoni who has all the making of a good captain but by exposing him prematuredly we might risk losing him both as player and as a captain. He is our future captain but the best time to appoint him will be after the Australia series. Meawhile anybody can become captain because in any case we are likely to struggle heavily against Australia and it will not make much of a difference .

What about Ganguly?
by Preshit Dattatray Upadhye on Sep 17, 2007 11:59 PM  | Hide replies

Good article. Analysis purely based on the Ian Chappels suggestion in Cric info. However, article has a major flaw. It does not consider the possibility of Ganguly leading the side for time being in tests and ODI's till future prospect in tests is found. Also, I think Kumble is equally qualified as others, and captaincy should be given to Bowler rather than Batsman.

Another option that comes to my mind and no body seems to be thinking about it. Zaheer Khan?
His place is secured in tests and ODI's, but I think in Chappel's tenure he was suspected for not having right attitude and nobody is giving him a serious thoughts?

What do you feel guys?

agarkar- is he fit to captain gali cricket
by sumit tayal on Sep 17, 2007 10:48 PM

with the present situation agarkar (meaning Agar - Kar ) is the best choice. India doent have to play on the edge. There will be a surel and shot result. People indulged in betting will never have a second thought. Everyone will know the result.
What difference it makes. If a politician can be BCCI chief, why cant a absolute stupid player like agarkar be a captain.
Hats off to whole BCCI. Thanks for selecting agarkar in the team.
It shows how much BCCI takes care of their players, even if you dont perform you will still be selected in the team.

Thank you very much Mr. Pawar and your selection committe.

Agarkar as captain

The author conveniently forgot the second name on the indian team sheet after tendulkar. The all out fighter "AGARKAR".He deserves to be made the captain. More than 10 yrs in Indian cricket and this is how we treat him.
Shame on us.

LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION to BCCI

To Ajit Agarkar Sir,
POSITION: Ghar Jamai of BCCI
Marathi pride of Gavaskar, shastri and veng
ADDRESS: Marathi Chowk
Maharastrian Gali, Mumbai Road

Sub: In reference to your consistency.

Dear BCCI,

Ajit Sir is a fantastic performer. How does he do it again and again? Mr. Ajit is a great person, who never change in his last 10 years. From 19 years to 30 years, he still remains the jolly 16 years old with a mind of 6 years old, while bowling. Another great, Mr. Gavaskar was quoting, now Agarkar will bring all his experience into play while in the last 2 matches and Ajit sir, has not dissappointed Gavaskar by nearly loosing match against Pakistan and giving 23 and 25 runs in his last over. The whole world says, if you want to remain child from behaviour and brain, learn from Ajit the great. One more thing is that, people change with the age and generation, but Agarkar pathetic and wayward bowling and his undernourished health and body still remains the same as 12 years before. Hats off to you Ajit Sir, and we all are eagerly waiting for your arrival at the Mumbai airport arrival center very soon to welcome you .. sir...

Your Sincerenly,

MarathiMonkey

What would BCCI do?
by Mayank Raj on Sep 17, 2007 09:57 PM

There is no good choice for a captain. This is a worse situation than a dilemma. What would BCCI do? If Sachin does not accept captaincy, the team will be in real trouble. Although I liked Dhoni, and still like him, it is too much to ask an wicketkeeper who needs constant focus on keeping while on field, to also captaining the side. That would be a bane in disguise. He might be honoured, but it will not do any good to indian cricket. There are reasons why usually a batsman becomes a captain. Unfortunately, it has to be Tendulkar at the moment, because Ganguly is out of favour since his lack of form and the entry of Greg Chappell.
It's not likely, it's not going to happen, but the only right thing is for Ganguly to pick up the rein till another batsman become a likely choice.
