Mumbaikars are not for this; its only the BCCI and few crap chaps
by on Sep 18, 2007 05:44 PM  | Hide replies

Guys let me tell you%u2019ll something. Me after having spent so many years in Mumbai, I personally feel that the Mumbai lobby is ruining Indian cricket. When it comes to cricket or anything its India first then Mumbai even for we Mumbaikars. Let%u2019s not forget its we Mumbaikars were the first to boooo Sachin Tendulkar in Mumbai.

It%u2019s the same things which id discussed everywhere across India including Mumbai. Why on earth is Ajit Agarkar continuously picked for the team knowing that he is unfit to be in the Mumbai team. As per my knowledge he is responsible for India losing 12-13 matches due to his bowling during the final over%u2019s. For the last few years he has been a burden on the Indian team.
Why is Ramesh Pawar picked for the team in the first place? Forget International cricket, does he look like a sportsman, is he fit to run, to jump, to catch, to dive ; it%u2019s a shame to India to have such players. Like to quote a statement from co passenger in a train who said %u201CLooking at Pawar, I feel we are playing some gulli cricket with cartoon character%u201D.
Why does Tendulkar needs a captaincy now, when his body is not recovering the way it did few years back, he is also on his way out. The opinion is the endorsement deals are going to be big if he chosen as the captain. For the last 4-5 years, Tendulakar has never performed when required and finally goes on hit a century against Bangladesh or Kenya or west India and keeps his average moving. He is the only batsmen who%u2019s got out in 90%u2019

What about Lalchand Rajout and Paras Mambray coming into the fold. The Mumbai Looby is no different from the 'corrupt' lobby that exsisted during Dalmiya reign. Once the Mumbai lobby goes, we might have the Bihari pobby with Lallu and dhoni coming in...God save Indian cricket

indian cricket and the mumbaikars
by mallikarjun vantagudi on Sep 18, 2007 05:37 PM

ever since cricket has been played in this country the bombay group has always been a stumbling block in the success of non-mumbaikars. The Bordes, Wadekars Gavaskars et al have always behaved detrimental to the Indian Cricket to establish their hegemony. They have under-performed purposely many a time; pataudi and other captains can vouch for their shenanigans;they have insulted the game(gavaskar playing left-handed in a ranji match when his team was losing). vengsarkar interfering and undermining dravid's authority must have left no choice for him except to resign. unfortunately for the morsels the BCCI throws no player wants to talk even after retirement.

Dravid is a good player but a WORST CAPTAIN EVER

he is a legend in batting not as a captain INDIA never looked seem to be confident of winning a match since he took captaincy. he played dirty politics against ganguly and tendulkar and finally tendulkar and dada who came back strongly on their critics especially Dravid with their strong abiltiy to bat and gave india lot of wins. but dravid batting declined day by day coz of humiliation he is facing coz of strong batting display by tendulkar and dada..there is one saying jo khudh gada khodta hai wohi usme ghirta hain...so my freind stop saying dravid as a good captain he was the worst captain india will ever get.. we loose very cheaply in the world cup against team like bangladesh..he doesnt hav the ability to lead the indian team.. Legends are kapildev, pataudi, gavaskar, azharuddin, Ganguly not dravid. so stop ur blah blah about dravid he is ofcourse not a gentlemen he has a very dangerous temperament silent killer who slowly degraded indian team position coz of politics inside the team with his lobby of players like karthik, uttappa, sreesanth,kumble...see the end result where we r now..whats our team...

its a good move
by s balasundaram on Sep 18, 2007 05:28 PM

To all crying fans, supporters

Actually Its a good move by BCCI. The indian trio (rahul/sachin/ganguli) definately won't be playing next world cup (which will after 3 yrs now). So this is a perfect time to groom a new leader. the new leader will do experiments.. will learn from his mistakes..also as pointed by sachin, he would be playing more of test cricket..Now BCCI should fill the vacancies for trio. Should try to inject new blood in team

Rahul - a gentleman
by Srinivasan Iyer on Sep 18, 2007 05:27 PM  | Hide replies

One can make several obvious guesses for his reason to step down, but it is apparent that there was undue pressure on him from the media, past players and above all officials who interfered and in his function. I dont think he had any problems within the team as he was quite popular and his qualities as a cricketer were appreciated by the whole team. On the selection of Agarkar, I beg to differ as I felt that Rahul had a soft corner for him as he had on several past occasions done well. But there is no doubt that Agarkar is now past his best and should retire honourably.

Rahul Dravid was selected as Team India captain by the BCCI
Cricket team was also selected by selection committee of BCCI. In what way people are writing That his relationship with dada or Sachin was Bad. Earlier he was controlled by the Coach. If at all people wants to blame please do the same with the selectors. We Indians to give due respect to the players of India. Rahul really contributed more to the Indian Cricket Team and he was totally free from the politics. Please stop writing against him, any players for this matter. They serving India better than us, we are simply better to comments on others. Rahul was accepted the captain words to work behind the wickets as wicket keeper, but that captain, as player was not accepted the request of Rahul, every body knows about this. The Wall of Indian team will play as gentleman in future games and definetly will comeback again as captain of Indian Team. Decession was taken by Rahul is Right At Right Movement. All people who Comments against him will enjoy this message.

DRAVID'S RESIGNATION

Dravid resigned only because the Bombay lobby was clearly working for his down fall. Leader of this lobby is Vengasarkar.

You are right. The mumbai lobby which is bent on making sachin as captain played dirty politics to get rid of dravid. DRAVID BEING A GENTLEMAN offered to quit to stay clear of the dirty politics. So much pressure was brought on him & all the key decisions were thrust on him by the mumbai lobby through vengsarkar. It is his goodness not TIMIDNESS ,he did not want to hurt anybody & hence chose to quit. One way it is good for him as he can concentrate on his batting which is vital for the country.People should know that all the great wins of india have come from dravids bat ,though credit goes to the captain.

Captaincy no Dravid's forte
by abbey K on Sep 18, 2007 05:20 PM  | Hide replies

Agreed politics is rampant in BCCI as it has been before. But just because Dravid resigned does not mean that he was a good captain. He was weak in leading the team and that was proved on various occasions. Remember world cup then u will realize. Why did he choose to bat second against Sri Lanka while India was on the verge of getting out of world cup? There are plenty such instances of his poor decision making abilities. I like him as a player. Captainship is not everyone's cup of tea. It is a different ball game. Captain needs to be tough to handle all sorts of pressure including the political ones and doing the right things. It was wise decision for Dravid. He should have taken moral responsibility after world cup debacle. All Indians would have respected him. But He took considerable time and realized he cant turn things around and has finally stepped up.

yah, You are correct. NOw also BCCI selected Mr.Dhoni as Indian Captain. I though this also unfortunate incident. Eventhough Dhoni is a Good player, BCCI has to give another opportunity to Saurav Ganguly. He lead the Team well. Because of Mr.Chappel, he failed in individual performance.
BCCI has to give little bit free to Captains in Selection of Team in the Matches. Sitting outside the Ground, alway commenting players, Frequent changes of batting order is not duty of the selection commity.
I would like to know from BCCI, what are the considerations they are taking in selecting Captain?

Problem is that India do not have captain material. We have history of players not perfomring once they start leading captains. Azar, sachin, Saurav, Rahul,... dont know how long it will go

Sowmya Rajan
Poor Dravid
by Sowmya Rajan on Sep 18, 2007 05:13 PM

I am sure the politics is not only from outside but also inside the team. It is bound to come out soon. Captain of the Indian can only survive by playing dirty politics, which Rahul could not do. It is sad that BCCI (a money making body) is run by some goons. Dilip Vengsarkar is known for his arrogance. Let me tell you something. In West Indies tour in 1980s, he refused to do work outs when he was summoned. Such is the commitment of our former cricket players and he is the Chairman of the selection committee. What can we expect? I wish ICL the very best in bringing out a good Indian team and better playing conditions. God save our cricket!
