Whether or not Dravid was a good-bad captain, Tendulkar wants to be Captain.
by C Kr on Sep 14, 2007 09:36 PM  | Hide replies

Some dirty BCCI chor deal was struck between BCCI cronies of Tendlya, and Dravid was elbowed aside. You watch - SRT will be captain!

The great overrated SRT wants to be captain again. He just can't accept he had such short terms as captain, and he very feared he'd never get it again. So BCCI and he did some elbowing, and suggested to Dravid that he step down.

So that this selfish play for self and records Tendulkar can be captain again. Ego.

See it what it is. See through this nonsense. It may sound like a rant, but guaranteed - this is the true story. SRT wants to end as Captain.

BCCI only kept him as Captain. Nobody liked him.

Ganguly successful captain??
by hellboy on Sep 14, 2007 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

What ever respect india got was because of Dravid , sachin and VVS. They were the ones who played brilliantly against Oz and outside pitches. And dada got the crown of the "Aggressive Captain" when all he did was remove his shirt and dance.
Same thing happened in 2003 WC. Sachin did all the work then enter ganguly ,scores 2 centuries against kenya and runs away with all the credit.
Stinks....

You need to be little bit more observant and intelligent to understand a captain's role above the players role - else the post of captain would not have been there - only players would have be there - like in Dravid era.

India certainly needs a better skipper!!
by Arpan Sengupta on Sep 14, 2007 07:26 PM  | Hide replies

I have every bit of respect for Rahul Dravid. He is one of the finest batsman India has ever had, enriching not only the Indian team but the game of cricket as a whole.
But saying all these I will be forced to be blatant that Rahul Dravid is not finest of Captains. While Chappel was the coach Rahul didnot seem to have a separate entity as a skipper. It's true that a Captain is as good as his team. But the fine line between a mediocre captain and a superb one is that the first species waits for things to happen while the latter tries to make them happen.Rahul Dravid has always been the first type, conventional, weary of innovation, weary of consequences, though, surprisingly he is a good reader of the game. And aggession, truly is not his forte. India won the test series in England but close followers of the game will remember that he made quite a number of mistakes in judgement.
Sourav Ganguly has always had the best leadersip mettle, making even the fearsome Aussies respect him.He is spirited, aggressive, also a good thinker and no doubt he is the best person to don the cap.Let us shun all the provincial sentiments and hail the great combination that Sourav and Rahul have made over the years and should be dong once again, in their same old chairs.

Dravid
by Suru on Sep 14, 2007 07:15 PM

I personally feel that this is the best decision taken by Dravid. He is a great batsmen but when it comes to crucial decision making he is poor and has no vision. It is time for either Dhoni or Yuvi to take over.
