by samir khokhar on Oct 29, 2007 11:24 AM

Re:Dinesh Karthik's innings
by John Bosco on Oct 29, 2007 11:18 AM  | Hide replies

I watched Dinesh's innings. He was brilliant.Raina was equally good till a pull did him in.Dinesh Karthik is the one to eventually replace Dravid. The reason he is kept out is simply because Dravid and Greg pointed to him and Raina as the most promising players.Yesterday Dinesh showed his quality and maturity.Well played.Admittedly the attack was not great and the pitch was good for batting. But even so Kartik showed a welcome return to fine batting.
Now on selection. This chopping and changing is going to trouble the confidence of all.The selectors shd back 4 or 5 youngsters and give them a long run of 6 or 7 matches.I pity Badri for getting dropped without a match,Joginder for 1 match and drop,Dinesh Karthik now.But if it can happen to Dravid the young stand no chance.

not fully but i agree to you...Kartick is actually blessed..he has his time now to get form before test series so he can be back in form as test opener and if he does well there; he will get a chance in ODIs again..
Joginder-not so much.. only good in 20-20 and tht too whiel bowling second..

Vengsarker is a vicious dimwit
by Sai Prakash on Oct 29, 2007 11:17 AM

Vengsarker took his revenge on Dravid because Dravid resigned from Captaincy when the selectors were not prepared.Vengsarker has taken revenge and insisted Dravid be dropped.OK I agree Dravid has not been performing well in the last 10 ODIs but 2 points have to be understood. One, Dravid was very unselfish and never stuck to his normal No.3 position in the Batting order but kept sending Yuvraj / Kaarthik / Uthappa for the interests of the team to increase the run rate.Thereby he mostly came lower down and in trying to hit out and score fast, threw away his wicket a no. of times.
Anyway, accepted he is slow in scoring as well as in the field but then so are Sachin and Ganguly. Why the double standards?
Also, Badrinath who was there in the ODI squad against Aus was dropped without a single chance???? The same, unfortunate Badri has made 3 consecutive 50 scores in the Challenger Series.WHAT IS THE USE?? Sehwag walks into the team on the basis of just 1 half century in the Challenger.???? Also, Raina scored 3 50's as well but is not selected.
The Selectors and that shameless V'sarker seem to be either on the rolls of the players like Sachin,Sehwag etc or they are on the rolls of the Sponsors.Any idea whats going on, Deshwasiyon????? The whole system STINKS!!!!1

Yeah and Gambhir had a strike rate of 50 against the Aus in 3 ODIs and averaged 10.00.
Why is he there in the Team?
Agreed Karthik has lost his form but what has Gambhir done? He is a success in 20-20 only.
ANyway, I am of the opinion that we should have 3 different sqauds for the 3 formats.
Doubt the selectors will agree though.

Amit Mishra is really bowling well. I think he may a good prospect for India in the future.Where will Gambhir bat if selected in the team? Opening pair of India is doing better in 50-50. Now we have 4-5 specialist openers in our indian team.

we have 5 specialist openers and 5 medium pacers. When and where in India will we play more than 3 pacers? It'd have made sense to hold on to Karthik or draft in Raina instead of a seamer.

Sewag ! Retire!!
by Kedar on Oct 29, 2007 10:36 AM  | Hide replies

I am not going to watch cricket till this ugly guy is part of the Indian Team.
I some times wonder which is more uglier his face or his game?
And as far as Veng is concerned he lost his mental stability while selecting it seems. Even if this ugly guy scrore heavily I am still not going to support him as I had enough of him these 2 yrs. I hate him to the core.

Who cares you? Face and Game can be ugly, that is not a problem. Your mind seems to be fully corrupted and looks very ugly, this is the real problem. Check with a mental doctor. I pray for your recovery.

You are right. Sehwag is being given too much time in the middle despite his regular falures. They are again creating confusion in the top order of Indian Cricket team. Any new youngster may have been given the chance instead of Sehwag.Indian selecters do something which we cannot even think. God help them.

Sehwag in team
by Tarun on Oct 29, 2007 10:24 AM

its a case of premium on inefficiency, performance is immaterial, its how you keep selectors happy that matters, its high indian selectors wake up from their unaccountability resulting in disgracing the country/hurting indian fans sentiments time & again by selecting sub standard players at the cost of merit for some petty/cheap/selfish personal gains. selection of sehwag again is glaring example of how biased selectors can be with any fear of accountability, its case of favour only at the cost of merit, country's grace, fans sentiment.

No second class student will not able to tell the way they can score the runs and the demolotion effect it has in the opponent bowling...Schewag is there to destroy the bowling and set the series against Pakistan....not to stay there and score a 50.....

Mr.Vengsarkar should have announced the team after the Challenger Trophy Final.... Karthik & Badri deserved to be in the team. If the senior players not performing in the first two ODIs then as selector Mr.Vengsarkar should drop them and include this young lads.....

Do you think youngsters should still remain in the team, even if they fail to perform in first two ODI's? Why only seniors should be axed from the team. Equal punishment for all players...

Yes, we have nothing to do with seniors or juniors. WHoever performs better, must be in the chance and everybody should be given a fair deal by selectors. No cheating there.
