Challenger trophy shows true colors of players
by supandi on Oct 29, 2007 12:40 PM

The Challenger trophy brings true colors of the players, as they have to perform and compete with their fellow team-mates and opposition. As it was witnessed, N. Behera took 35 balls for 10, when he should have gone all out to win the game. Challenger trophy finals saw Badri choking under pressure. He hit one boundry in a knock of 50 odd in 90 balls. There was no real rush to accelerate, survival and having some runs under the belt was the evident intention.

On the other hand, Karthik proved to be a true team man. Kudos to his batting performance

Playing games with careers of young players.

why bcci always makes kaif captain?are there not any good young players in team?kaif as a captain pathetic.yesterday during presentation after final in challanger series, when he was asked why you can not defend 269 runs,he said gambhir lost his wicket at crucial time and we did not score more runs.before the match when he selected batting after toss,he said we would like to score around 260 as it is a winning score.they scored 269 and still at end he blames gambhir.also he did not speak a single word about awesome innings of raina and kartik.i have seen so many times this.he always thinks raina as his competitor for place in team.

Kaif is a loser. He had nothing to say about his performance in the tournament and murmered something about earning captainship points from the tournament. He's so pathetic that he even tried to bowl few overs in one of the games to assert his all rounder value.

I agree, he should be kicked out as the captain, and doesn't even deserve a place in the Challenger teams. So many fielders, such as Tiwary, Karan Goel, Suresh Raina were at par with his fielding. He's nowhere to go but HOME.

common guys,, if u look after Ganguly, only few persons replace him as captain in Indian team. Of them Karthick & Kaif is the best. Dhoni is all waste. Kaif has a good cricketing brain.unlike dhoni who s A GULLY CRICKETER. These two along with Raina are future captains of India

bowling dept

Just keeping the bowling dept in focus, I think Amit Mishra currently looks better than Chawla. That doesnt mean we need to write off Piyush, its just just that based on current form, Amit Mishra should get a look in. He seems to be more on the classical mould than Chawla, just from the fact that he flights the ball more. Classical leg-spin is a treasured art, and should be encouraged; let do things to get them quick exposure at international events so they mature quickly!

Praveen Kumar, will get butcherd by teams like Australia, since he is also in the mould of bowling 2 good deliveries and 3 ordinary balls....those ordinary balls will get belted out of the ground. I just dont understand why they dont concentrate on keep the ball in the 'channel'....we will soon have number of cases like Shree, who are inconsistent!!

Where is Venky Prasad??

So, I guess we have to stick to Sreesant, RP,Pathan and Zaheer. There is no one else.Praveen Kumar at 125 kmph is no use in Int.cricket.Bose, Munaf and Mahesh are pathetic.
I think Ishant Sharma who can bowl at 135-140 kmph should have been selected instead of Praveen Kumar who I think got some FLUKE wickets.Bose looked like a Pucca Cartoon with a 6foot 5 inch frame and flying hair bowling like a GIRL at 125 kmph.God help Indian Cricket.

Praveen kumar was the best talent showcased in Challenger Trophy. He swings the ball in nicely, but will to get killed on international arena. The other challengers, Ranadeb Bose, YoMahesh were pretty ordinary. It's mockery of new ball to let Joginder Sharma open the bowling.

Face it.... we have no bench strength in bowling department.

eternal conundrum...
by heaven on Oct 29, 2007 11:28 AM  | Hide replies

Selectors will always be made to look like a bunch of jokers!

I mean if Challenger series were a yardstick to select some of the upcoming talent, then Badri, Amit Mishra, Karthik, Raina should be automatically in the team......need to know, now what more have they got to do? Bribe Vengasarkar for starters??!!

Hello selectors, are you listening

they r doing them a favor..if they r picked now and fail by the time we finish AUS tour; they will all be lost..its better to waste Gambhir, Sehwag, Dravid, Ganguly who are already on the verge of ODI n test careers...
think positive..hehehe
