Dravid - The Liability
by Atal Advani on Oct 31, 2007 02:01 PM

Dravid completely deserves it - to be shown the door unceremoniously. He is a complete liability not to just team india but India as a full nation.
He single handedly misguided the public over and over again in press conferences saying sehwag was going to score big runs in the world cup, he said again and again that india is a world cup favourite again misguiding the public and India lost to bangladesh due to his horrendous captainship - how much shame can Dravid bring to the country

Apart from this look at his face and body language - he demoralized even me sitting in my drawing room imaginge what influence he has on his fellow teammates

he hasnt scored more than 10 runs in any match for a long time now and when he bats he looks completely at the end of his wits....lets not talk about his run rate

So dilip vengasarkar who is one of the all time greatest batsmen of all time can easily figure out that Dravid doesnt deserve to be in the team with the kind of batting he has been doing

so he showed him the door ...over and above this he did full chamchagiri of chappel and other cricket administrators and stabbed friend cum captain on his back and tried real hard to ensure gangulys career was over ...but ganguly is a class apart from these kind of characters and hes made a fabulous comeback

so dravid should be kicked out of the indian team for good ... he should never be allowed to wear the indian cap ever again

Unfair to Dravid! Shame on u Vengi
by irfan khan on Oct 31, 2007 06:17 AM

It is shame on Indian cricket today. We are not protected by wall any more. Idio-ts have dismantled the bricks. The Wall has been broken.
Guys you know does any selector would like to drop Dravid in the manner he has been done. Shame on you Vengsarkar.
You are not only making nonsense desicions but also spending all our money enjoying the foreign tours with the team. Step out of the selection committee before you are forced to do so. Stop favouring your city people. You can't Drop Sachin, cause we all know obvious reasons.
We all know who is better match winner now.
You mumbaikars are all same natured. Selfish and self centered.

WRONG
by Upadrasta PardhaSaradhi on Oct 29, 2007 09:53 PM

2 wrong decisions by the Selectors.
Picked 5 openers and no consistent middle order player. Instead of Sehwag and Rohit Sharma, they should have selected 2 of dravid/kaarthik/badarinath who can bat in the middle order.
They selected before the series is over. Both badarinath and Dinesh kaarthik proved the selectors wrong and by scoring good runs when needed in the middle order.
Most of the times , its not the dashing play you need, you need a consistent, good players under pressure and for me, Dinesh kaarthik and Badarinath are the guys.
Rohit Sharma is more of a dasher and we have enough dashers in the middle order and cool and calm nature of kaarthik and badarinath is needed for INdia.
Moreoever, both are very good fielders and Badarinath can be a spinning all rounder.

friends am calling for excluding Kolkata from hosting International cricket........it is state where cricketers have got no room for their performances to get praised.........they only want him to perform.........it is hard to know they are happy with India loosing.......it is high time for BCCI for not allowing Eden Gardens to host matches for at least the next 5 to 6 years......Any team touring India should not be allowed to play in Eden Gardens.......no state in India has got such a hostile feelings for the team as the people in Kolkata have.......they are unhappy with the team winning the T20-T20 world cup......happy with the team losing the world cup........it is nothing but cheap mentality........Players themselves should avoid playing in that venue........these are the people who give step motherly treatment to players.........they curse a player like Sachin.......what great public

I do not know where you are from but most of the Bengali press and the people of Kolkata( if not all ) are very critical and vocal about Dravid being dropped just the way they were vocal when Mustaq Ali and Kapil Dev were dropped.

There's no reason to retain Ganguly and Sachin in the ODI. Though Iam fan of Ganguly but I think their era is over.

Mr.Baster Dilip Vengsarkar

you have appointed Dhoni as captain. what he did in odi. Really is he good player? First you see dhoni's england tour. how much he scored idiot. he scored 50 at last match. if you removed last match score then you calculate dhonis average. dilip said, sehwag done in challanger trophy. Dilip needs to compare with others like raina and badrinath. Dilip said selected players are based on merit. then how can you acting selector for indian team? do you have such a merit man? last 6 match dravid came to crease after 35 overs thats y he hitted the ball. while hard hitting time wkt may loose thats nature. i accept that dravid didnt play well two match at last series.
Please dilip vengsarkar, resign you selector post. You also havent such a merit to select a player.

U'r absolutely right mate. Dravid was dropped just because he did not fare well against Australia in one series but a Sehwag who has been unable to score in domestic circuit is picked up because according to the cheap selector "he is playing well". Bull...shit what a contradiction. Sehwag was a very good batsman but he is going through an extended lean patch his inclusion in the team is unfair. Similarly, if the same performance yardstick goes why is Sachin Tendulkar in the team. He is playing for self, looking for that elusive century everytime he goes out to bat but unable to get opposition players and umpires helping him and giving him four five chances every innings. What an irony and this performer is now going to lead the country in tests. Can't the selectors see the chap is struggling to put bat to the ball. Everyone says he has scored the maximum- but what is the result. Has India won any match? In West Indies, Sachin was a failure, in England also. In South Africa he could not save the two tests India lost. Suddenly he has become saviour of Indian cricket. This is all dirty politics. If anybody has some cricket left from the three oldies it is Dravid, maybe, ODIs would be tough on him. Watch my words, in Australia, the Tendulkars and Gangulys wud not be able to cross double digits in most matches. Indian team, if it has to score, will have to crawl and beg to Dravid so that these asses can hide their ineffeciencies behind the wall.

Totally aree with you.
Also, why the hell are these selectors announcing the team before the Challenger Finals? If so,what is the purpose of a dead rubber final.
The logic is simple. They knew well Sehwag would come up with consistent performance. So when he performed they picked him,so that his failure in final goes unnoticed.
Now what for the actual performers of Challenger-Raina,Badrinath,Dinesh Karthik?-the theory is simple-they'll have to perform consistently&wait!
As far as Dhoni is concerned,Karthik is far better a keeper than him.If batting abilities are taken as criteria,he's proving his mettle in that also.In batting dept.,even Parthiv has been
playing much more consistent&responsible innings for some itme now.

I respect vengsarkar one of the great batsman in India after Vishy & Sunny of retired players. But as selector he did wrong dropping the Great Player like Rahul Dravid in present lot. He treated him an ordinary player. I think Vengsarkar has No moral Right to Continue as Selection Committee Chairman. You must remove from the team the players who play for themselves not for team. Rahul is player of team man unselfish man & He is a match winner, Thinker.dignified player. BCCI has take note of it with the selection committee to sefguard the Indian Cricket in respected Manner. Save from dirty politics of present selection committee. It is one of the ever worst decision of the Indian Cricket.
