Team India and Sachin
by Jim on Oct 10, 2007 09:38 PM

The first and foremost goal of supporting a team is for it to win. A player like Sachin will be the firs you will pick for at least another couple of years if Winning is what you want.

Now for the comments about Sachin playing for himself. Let us try and look at it rationally. Sachin has had a $6m a year contract for about 6 years now. He has had several different endorsements and other forms of income. He is toiling in the sun playing for his country and listening to people yap away.

If money was the sole motivator, I guarentee you, Sachin will make a lot more money if he just started a motivational speech tour. Each of the Indian corporates will pay him $100k per appearance in India and abroad. He will be the best commentator for ESPN. He could endorse just as many brands for the next 5 years. And if he just says he wants to manage the IPL and make it big, BCCI will be stupid to get another brand ambassador. He could then make money on that.

There are a million things the guy could do to make money. His name as an Icon is set. It is a matter of just milking it now. If he stops playing, there is more time to do that milking in this day and age. There will be a million agents ready with plans on what he can do to milk things and how. He could just start a ice cream chain called Sachin in India and you know a million sponsors will put money in it.

Stop talking money and just look at his commitment to play for the country. Enjoy it guys it will not last.

15 THOUSAND RUN
by jitendra Singh on Oct 10, 2007 09:27 PM

If he scored more than 15000 run if people say that he played for himself ,it is not true if get on board it also for india , how dare who said that he played for himself, not for country,if any one who played international cricket or knowledge of opening against great bolwer like imran khan , donald ,wasim akram, shane warne, abdulkadir and many other great bolwer agree that they are afraid bold against sachin because of his furios batting , ya he slowed dowm in last year this is also because of his experience, if he blocked one side of wicket other side of batsman take a rick a play frelly, other thingif he is on crease opposite side is on pressure they only think about tendulkar not on other batsman, now india has many attacking player like uttapa , yuvraj, dhoni etc but player who stay on wicket is lacking, so please stop saying that sachin played for himself he always played for country

SACHIN!!

When many people say how many of Sachin's hundreds have come for a winning cause, Here is analysis of each of those centuries he scored when INDIA lost and reason why it went in vain. Out of the 41 hundreds,........................ Out of the 41 hundreds, 11 hundreds have gone in vain.
1. 137 off 137 (Strike rate 100) balls Vs SriLanka at Delhi in 1996 World Cup . India scored 271/3 in 50 overs. The only other 50 score was from Azhar. SL made 272 in 48.4 overs. Manoj Prabhakar had 4-0-47-0. He also opened in the innings and scored 7 of 36 balls.
2. 100 of 111 Balls Vs Pak in Singapore- Apr 96 . India 226 all out in 47.1 overs, When Sachin was out score was 186/4 (We cant blame because next 3 are match fixtures) . Pak had a reduced target of 187 from 33 overs.
3. 110 of 138 Balls (Slower but...) vs Sri Lanka In Colombo - Aug 96. Again India 226 for 5 in 50 overs, Only other 50 score from Azhar (58 of 99 balls !!!) .Sachin has also bowled 6-0-29-1 , the second most economical bowler and the only wicket taker (SL were 230/1 in 44.2 ) of the match next to Srinath. 7 bowlers were used by Azhar.
4. 143 of 131 Balls (!!!) Vs Aus at Sharjah, Apr 1998. This was chasing under lights. The qualifying match before the final. The whole world knows about this match. Still one interesting point, when Sachin was out India were 242 at 5 at 43 overs. Target was 276 in 46. Still India finished at 250/5 scoring just 8 of the next 3 overs. Great performance by Laxman and Kanithkar indeed.

5. 101 of 140 Balls against SL at Sharjah in Oct 2000. Indian score was 224/8 in 50 overs. (No other 50 score). SL got 225/5 in 43.5, Sachin also bowled 5-0-22-0, better economy rate than everyone except Srinath.
6. 146 of 153 Balls against Zimbabwe at Jodhpur - December 2000 (Game of Dougla Mariliar) India made 283 / 8 in 50 overs. Sachin was the last man to be dismissed, score was 235/8 at 46.3 overs when he was out. Agarkar and Zaheer Khan propelled India to 283 in the last 3.3 overs. When Sachin has scored 146 of 235 in 46.3 overs, you can guess what the other 8 great batsmen were doing against the World class Zimbabwe attack. Second Highest scorer was Zaheer Khan with 32. Zim got 284/9 in 49.5 overs. Kumble bowled the last over. Sachin also got 6-0-35-1
7. 101 of 129 Balls Vs SA at Johannesburg - Oct 2001 India got 279/5 in 50, Ganguly made 127 of 126 balls. When Ganguly got out, the score was 193-1 in 35.2 overs. Sachin was the last man to get out at 263. SA got 280 in 48.4 overs. Sachin bowled 9-0-51-0, second best in economy rate next only to Agarkar (10-0-45-1)
8. 141 of 135 balls Vs Pak at Rawalpindi, March 2004 . India were chasing 329 and were 317 all out in 48.4 overs, 8 balls to spare. No other batsman made even a 50 (when chasing 300 ) and when Sachin was out, India were 245-4 in 38.4 overs. They needed 85 from 68 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
9. 123 of 130 Balls vs Pak at Ahmedabad, April 2005. India made 315/6 in 48 overs (48 over match), again no other 5

9. 123 of 130 Balls vs Pak at Ahmedabad, April 2005. India made 315/6 in 48 overs (48 over match), again no other 50 score. Second highest was Dhoni 47 of 64 balls, (third highest was extras - 39). Pak made 319 in 48 overs. The three quicks (Balaji, Nehra and Khan went for 188 runs from 26 overs between them taking only 2 wickets). Sachin bowled 6-0-36-1. No Harbhajan and no Kumble.
10. 100 of 113 Balls Vs Pak at Peshawar, Feb-2006. India were 328 all out in 49.4 overs. Pathan and Dhoni got 60 each. When Sachin was out when India were 305-5 in 45 overs. Managed only 23 in the last 5 overs.Pak scored 311/7 in 47 overs and won by D/L method. Could have been anybody's game. Sachin did not bowl.
11. 141* of 148 balls vs WI at Malaysia. India made 309 /5 in 50 overs. Sachin was not out. Pathan was the only other 50 scorer. WI made 141/2 in 20 overs and won by D/L method. Again could have been anybody's game.
In the other 31 instances India has won 30 times and once there was no result.
Now, please think again when you say sachin's 100s were in the losing cause and that he is not a team player.
It is a fact that for the entire 90's India played International cricket with 1 PLAYER and 10 JOKERS.

How can a batsman like Sachin be selfish?
by Vinit Sankhe on Oct 10, 2007 09:09 PM  | Hide replies

When a batsman scores, his score adds into the scoreboard. When a bowler takes a wicket it helps the team to win a match. So I still do not understand how can a cricket player be selfish?

If he is does not play then its the responsibilty of the other playes in the team to fill his gap.

So essentially winning a match or getting a good score is for a TEAM to do... NOT a responsibility of a single player.

Sachin plays as he always does. With age slowness and loss of reflexes does come so that is inevitable.

Can someone here please explain to me how sachin is selfish?

I am not convinced.

The truth is Sachin has scored his record breaking scores ONLY when he was opening and India was batting first. Means he had enough time and balls no pressure to chase any big total so that he can build up his innings. He failed most often when we were chasing huge totals and team is in crunch situations losing a few wickets and for this statics are available.
So there is no use of Sachin fans getting angry when Sachin's weaknesses were exposed..

1.Sachin has an average of 42.92 while chasing(while India batting 2nd).

Can you please show me how many in the whole cricket ODI history have 42.92 while chasing?

2.Sachin has 15 ODI century while chasing(Batting 2nd).

Show me one person in the world who have 15 century while chasing

3.Sachin has 45 fifty plus scores(not including his hundreds) in ODI while chasing(Batting 2nd)

Show me one person in the whole world who has 45 fifty plus scores while chasing.

4. Sachin has scored 7426 ODI runs while chasing(batting 2nd)

Show me one person in the whole world who has 7426 ODI runs while chasing.

If no one has records the way sachin has or if no one has performed the way sachin has performed while chasing. then you cant say sachin does not score while chasing. If you still think he does not score while chasing. then you are just crap who talk nonsense without any evidence.

Outside India, all those people who know cricket know one name in batting. And that is Sachin Tendulkar.

Probably you are too jealous that your favorite player hasnt got the talent that sachin has.

When sachin played 79 in 20 overs what were the players on the opposite strike were doing? sleeping? Could they stick to their position and play to increase the runrate.

Sachin 400 ODI. Another record. He always played for records. Never bother about the Team India's Win. He was there only in the team because of his name and fame not by his form and team work. Consider this ODI series. 0 16 43 runs (71 balls) and in Last ODI he has scored 79 runs in 20 overs and tried his level best for the team India's defeat. He even tried to run out Dhoni and fallen on his own trap. Ganguly was dropped in the 3rd ODI without playing a single innings. It%u2019s disgusting even after playing so bad in first 3 ODI's he has ensured his place in the 4th ODI. Selectors should treat all the payers in the same scale. They should not treat ganguly differently and sachin differently. In shortly sachin has deprived the chances of many talented players. 4th ODI he was not eligible to play in anyway. If yes then what about Ganguly in 3rd ODI? He is unfit to play ODI. He is playing this ODI series like a test series. Shame on you sachin and your records.

Was sachin the opener of the match you are talking about?

NO. So basically they did not play. It was upto sachin to balance the match.

Did Sachin slowed down the OTHER batsmen opposite him or stopped them to play thier best shots?

NO

Was sachin ever bad in fielding?

NO.

So on basis you say that he plays for records. He is an exceptionally well cricket sportperson. He is ought to make records. There are people in team india who even say that having sachin in the team gives them lots of confidence and feel comfortable.

He is a natural player. He has always played for the country.

Without Sachin India will loose all the respect it has in the Cricket World. Was Sir Don Bradman mad when he said Sachin plays like him and gave him place in his team of 11 cricket players of all time.

All the australian bowlers agree that taking Sachin's wicket is a delight for them and always a call for a party.

Thats his charisma.

I dont really understand the logic behind these SJDs and RJDs. There must be something wrong with these guys. Hey Mamu Tereme Kya Chemical Locha hain re?

When a player is dropped quickly, we whine about the fact that he did not get too many chances. We start with Look at Austrailia, Michael Clarke failed in so many matches, they still have him going out there.

Now we have a genius that can win us games and we have no replacement, we just want to say, "too many failures". 3 is too many. How about 7 fifties in 9 games? That is what Sachin is coming off of.

Guys there is no logic in these discussions. The IQ on this board seems to be around 80. You guys are George W's best buddies. You will get along with the guy really well since your IQs really match.

Well My Comments About Match Fixing, Seems Have Hurt Some Jerky Morons Who Think Cricket is Just a Game Between Bat and Ball.

Well WIth Match Fixing I Meant Politics By BCCI and Not By Players, It is A Series That is Produced BY BCCI and BCCI will Make Sure that It Doesnt Incur Losses.

BCCI And Australian Cricket Board Signed an Agreement for this Series, And BCCI Has Paid Australian Cricket Board Millions of Dollars.

There is Every Possibility That Respective Boards Like Australian Cricket Board May Tell Its Players to Play it Safe , To Make Series Interesting.

If Aussies win the First 4 Matches 4-0, No Body In India will Watch These Matches.

There is Every Chance of Playing It Safe

Now I Call It Match Fixing.

The Politics of BCCI.

Sachin- a great player
by siva kumar on Oct 10, 2007 09:02 PM

Sachin is admired and adored by one and all for batting skills at a very early stage. His tecnics were flawless and he was fearless against any bowler compared to his age then. At his early years he sacrificed many chances to score centuries otherwise his century countings could have been still higher. So accusing him of playing for only records will be most cruel.
But there are a few instances where victory was sacrificed for enabling him to complete the century.
But while praising his skill it is not a fault to point out his weaknesses also. For that we need not to have played for India.
The truth is Sachin has scored his record breaking scores ONLY when he was opening and India was batting first. When you accuse me of just reading expert opinion, I think you should consider doing the same. Fortunately, unlike before, I have actually watched the last few months of Sachin's batting. He looks good man.

Yes the experts are talking crap about his reflexes slowing down etc. That is only natural. There is nothing written anywhere that a player should play a certain way his entire career.

Look, we take Fast bowlers: They start absolutely express and then settle into using their experience in getting wickets. It is the same with Batsmen. They lose their reflexes after a certain age not because of age but because of using the same motion for years.

Let me explain, if Sachin were to take a reflex test today in a science lab, his reflexes will still be the same. But, what happens is since he has played for so long, he has lapses of concentration. He may play and miss a lot more, he may get the occassional LBW. That is because of lapse in concentration not reflexes. If you train them right, your reflexes should hold (theoretically) till you are 50.

Sachin of today may be a bit more vulnerable but he is still as potent. When he gets going, there is no stopping the guy from getting his runs. The problem is we are jaded. It is easier to think that it is the easy bowling he is facing that he getting him runs and not his genius. I dont want to fall in that trap. I enjoy the guy.

As I said before, I think I gave you too much credit. Think rationally you moron. This is entertainment. You watch what is fun for you. I dont really give a damn about chess. I love my cricket and AMerican Football. That is all I love to watch for ENTERTAINMENT sports wise.

Sachin happens to be a fantastic cricketer who entertains me when I watch him. Since people love to watch him the endorsements flow. What is the problem? If Viswanathan Anand was really into endorsements, he should pick a better profession that the game on a board. It is the most boring thing on earth.

In any case, I think I should leave you in your ignorance filled world.
