Great IndiA

India prove that they are a great team overseas as well. All thought they can have major wins only in India. This is a clear evidence that India can win abroad as well. Well done India. Next target is Australia.

Man of the series.
by Raam on May 28, 2007 10:12 AM  | Hide replies

I have nothing agaisnst Sachin but selection of him as Man of the Series is totally absurd. In fact Rahul Dravid was the right choice. It is Dravid who at the fall of Jaffer for the first ball of the first test played a superb positive and aggressive display of batsmanship and demoralise the Bangla bowlers with a useful partnership with Karthik. Sachin and Saurav only capitalised and scored centuries gainst the tiring bowlers. It was Dravid who made a sporting declaration to bring life to rain affected First Test but Bangla team played safe by sedative batting in the second innings to settle for a tame draw.

In the Second test also Dravid played a very positive cricket to score 129 bu contrary to this Sachin played to achieve a personal milestone by scoring one more century in 200 plus balls when India wanted big score and faster run rate. I should say in both tests Tendulkar's contribution with the bat had not helped his team much. In the first innings of the second test if only Sachin had played brisk inning we could have seen Dhoni blasting a century in record time. Poor Dhoni had to sacrifice his century because of slow batting of Sachin. His haul of 2 wickets in Bangla second innings had come only because of indiscrete shots of he players and because of his good bowling. Dravid showed excellant leadership in both tests hence deserved MAN OF THE SERIES AWARD.

whats ur problem? when sachin fails u hav a problem when he performs u hav a problem!!!! u mean to say that dhoni would hav scored a cntury in 70 balls in that humidity? oh yes he would because the bangla bowlers were tired!! and talking about dravid he threw away his wicket after being so well set. it was a needless shot. come on guys grow up!! even don bradman was not the same batsman throughout his career even he kept changing his batting style and technique as the years went by!!! and what was more important dhoni scoring a century or india wining? in fact if u r so confident about dhoni's talent y couldnt he score 75 i 50 balls instead of 51 in 50 balls???

i do agree!!! but sachin is the highest run getter with 3 wickets and 5 catches!!! you are right dravid played a better game than tendulkar!!! and as you indians allow tail enders to prolong more!! both deliveries in the second innings to take mortaza and rafeek are not just bats mistake!! LBW bold and caught behind should credits bowler only!!!

he is better than avarge not the same best!!! let him perform this atleast!!

I absolutely agree with you. when other batsman were playing freely , we have seen the great Sachin Tendulakr strugggling and playing slowly only to finish his Century. He is the slowest century maker in the first innings of the Second test match. Dravid was playing extreemly well and even acceralted the innings after his century where as Sachin played very slowly which made the other batsman like Karthik and Dhoni to play aggresssive shots and satisfy their wickets.

It is very sure that these days Sacin is a changed player and wants to show to the world that he can make runs, but in this process he is taking too much time which is increasing pressure on other players.

It doesnt matter howmany rtuns you scores, they are useless if they dotn contribute to the course of the team's Victory.

I am not anything against Sachin and had atmost respect for the guy.

I only tell you what Happended wt my opinion is on this match. I only fear that Sachin is getting into a mood where he want to prove himself by scoring only centuries and in result, trying to more watchful and not concentrating on his own game. Thats what my point is.

Coming to his bolwing, he has been always a good partnership breaker and continues to do so. This only questions the decision of management to play with 5 bolwers. We should have played either Lakshman or Yuvraj to give them some batting practice for the next important test series.

With sachin and saurav sharing the burden of bowling atleast 10 10 = 20 overs per innings, we should play with 6 4 1 combination with Karthik and jaffer/Gambhir at the top, Dravid, Sachin, saurav, Lakshman, yuvi taking the next 4 spots, dhoni coming @7 and 4 bolwers.

Point No 2: Agree except the opinion to include yuvi in a test. He should go back and collect energy and come back for the one day stint. Indian team is good enough without him. His flamboyant presence just shakes the balance.

Point No 1: Leave Sachin alone. He is more matured about his game than all of us put together.

See Boss, We have seen Sachin play for the last 17 years and we are also matured enough to understand how he is playing and when he is struggling and why he is truggling. i am not barking at him. I am only praying that I am wrong and Sachin is not going into his own shell to rpove himself.

Comign to Yuvi, may be you r right, Since he is in team, I named his name. I can name any other players who can take Test Spot. My point is we do plan well and mix youth with experience and by the time Dravid, sachin, saurav and Lakshman retires , we should have young guys to take their spots. We should give chances to guys like Yuvi, Kaif, Dinesh kaarthik,Gautam Gambhir even is test matches to groom themselves.

Indians should follow a policy where 3 of the 4 seniors (dravid, Sachin, Saurav, Lakshman) and 3 of the Juniors( Yuvi, Kaif, Dinesh kaarthik,Gautam Gambhir etc) play in the test matches on a rotation basis. Selection is a very important, probably the most important, tool in building good teams.

Australia also beaten Bangladesh. When they took on Bangladesh, they did not show any mercy. The Aussie team was at its full strength, as if they are taking on SA or playing Ashes series. They crushed the Bangladesh.

I do not think any Austrialian would have commented that this is not a victory since it has come againstly lowly rated team. Nor the ICC count those matches separately. It is official test match and the team wins that match is credited for the win.

So victory is always victory. By the way where were you pleple when Gunguly's team defeated a hapless Zimbabe? There were no adverse comments at that time. Honestly ask yourself as to why you aqre criticising the Indian team now. ONly because it is led by Dravid. Had Gunguly been the caption, this victory over Bangladesh would have been a great one!
