Pathetic

"It was a perfect batting strip which the Indian batsmen made the most of." reports Harish Kotian from Dhaka.

And what was the best from India - 326 in 90 overs. Karthik dropped in the slips, Jaffer dropped by the bowler etc.....

What was the strike rate - 60percent.

I feel that the cricket correspondent is propping up the team, otherwise he may be out of a job in a few years time - when our magnificent eleven will share the fate of the hockey eleven.

Is Sachin a Night Watchman
by Gandhi on May 26, 2007 06:50 AM  | Hide replies

Yes we cannot teach him cricket. But we can atleat remind him to move on. This guy played as if he is a night watchman. He has to be told that he is in the team as a batsman. If consumes time like this tomorrow, he will be helping Banladesh in drawing the match. This is difference between us and Aussies. They leave nothing to chance. In case it rains in this match and you are short of time for result to an extent it will be your own doing.
How long this man is going to scratch around. His presence is no joy for Indian fans now and sure ly in no way motivating derring room. He is also blocking place for youngsters. Youvraj, Laxman have to sit out, and new batsman can only dream to be even a 12th man. Still we depite so much talent we loose to better Teams like South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Or should we agree and settle down wit understanding that we are not major team anymore?

You expensive Indian, How long are going to do Hero worship of Sachin? You are telling that Laxmans carrier strike rate is much lesser than of Sachin. Nothing wrong with there respective records. The only critcal point is how you Hero is scratching in the middle against Bangladesh. Please give the word that you strated with to your father if at all you who is he? This is open forum for discussion and not your uncles non tresspassing land. So go easy son. I am calling you son now for the word you addressed me with. I am still a proud Indian son. Dont be emotional for the Sachin, who is far beyond his best times. More he plays now the way he is playing now, more critics he is going to have. Son next time mind your language.

You are right. Though Sachin is a great batsman and required to prove that anymore, he should stand apart and explode on a placid track and mediocre bowling making use of that. This is high time they score atleast another 150 runs in the morning session itself and declare to force a result in this match.

Good answer for Chris. Good wishing them to score. But this inning Sachin has strated soo slow that he is already consumed huge time and more time he consumes without scoring is going to help as India is posied well. Only need is to get runs faster. which he is not doing at the moment

Maturing Nation
by rohit gupta on May 26, 2007 06:02 AM  | Hide replies

If Indian openers had scored hundreds against the so called minnows few years ago, the message board would have been flooded with comments giving the impression as if its been done against the Aussies. Thankfuly there's not much idol worship going on at this point. It may be that we are disgruntled and fed up with Team India's performance at the World Cup, and it would take more than just beating the hell out of Bangladesh to win over the fans back. It may also be that as a cricketing nation, we are maturing and learning not to get overwhelmed, I mean ain't this what the players are supposed to do anyway???? When the Aussies won the WC in 1999, there was a huge Tickertape parade in all major cities across Australia to let fans pay their gratitude to the team. Nothing of sort happend this time around, even though they have created history winning 3 cups on the trot. This is a statement as much on Australian teams greatness as it is on the lack of pride they take on beating the rest of the teams due to lack of contest. Even Banga's have been a handful without winning so far, how long before Team India starts crying for more competition from other teams?
