I observed in every topic in Rediff, whatevery the topic is fight between the readers... Sachin fans - Sachin haters, Dravid Vs ganguly Captaincy, Bengal Vs Remaining india, North Vs South, Mumbai lobby Vs Remaining india, seniours Vs youngsters.
4 days back i was in a discussion board after the Afridi's amazing innings.. one reader wrote: Our seniours r blocking youngsters to prove themselves like Afridi did today.
how ridiculous it was... we indians always live in dreams.. we want all our players like other country players.. but we dont want a youngster like kapil, sachin in his prime or even dravid. When youngsters cant make up our hopes then we again thrash them until they gone in trash.
Be sensible in comments.. and dont use abusive language... Support the current team whatever BCCI chooses. Whatever we discuss its never gonna happen from BCCI. So support our team and enjoy the Game called CRICKET.

True that we can not do even if BCCI have not selected BEST PLAYERS AMONG AVAILABLE STUFF, but how do we leave a message to realise the mistake
Public opinion plays very - 2 important role before selection, it is because of public opinion that Sachin , saurav have not selected in one day team and Sehwag was not considered for test team!!!!
So, it is our request to you pls be with the truth and ENJOY THE GAME CALLED CRICKET

If u think bcos of Public writing in Rediff Forums Sachin and Saurav not selected for ODI team then please wake up. If u really think like that then lets see Sachin and Saurav will be selected for ODI team for Ireland and England or not. If not then i agree with u. I know there is lot of pressure on BCCI for Sachin and Saurav regarding bringing youngsters. Sehwag was not in team bcos of his bad performance from last 2 years. Public opinion is also against Sehwag in ODI's not only on Sachin and Saurav.
We Indians always wants overnight results by bringing new youngsters which is highly impossible.
What i want to tell to the readers is, it is not the right method to abuse eachother in forum to realise the mistake to BCCI.
the main reason for our cricket status is: 1. Politics 2. Media 3. Useless Officials in BCCI 4. Big Infrastructure with lot of big loopholes. 5. Selection criteria ( Zonal, state ).
I hope u will not surprise if Sehwag selected again for Ireland and England tour.. and Dravid has still faith in him.
Till yesterday we r abusing Jaffer for his Golden Pair but today we made him hero again in forums. We r never gonna change.. we want immediate results we dont have patience to wait. All youngsters who r in team dont have 2 or 3 years domestic cricket.
Cricket has changed alot from last decade. Our youngsters dont have such mental and physical strength to play in International arena.

true Sabteam We want "Instant result" and due to this we have only 4 players performing consistently over last 10 years Kumble, Sachin , Dravid and Ganguly in that order.
and we have given chance to as many as 37 players in last 7 years. (since 2000). so what message does it gives to youngsters ???? Because one series failure and they would be dropped. There is very good example of Wicket Keepers selection We had selected Ajay Ratra in place of Dahiya, Ratra scored century in WI series and was very good behind stumps and was touted to be best we had... Then he got injured and we selected Patel who was the worst WK (including Deep Das Gupta's performances) I had seen but was persisted because he was scoring more runs and we have not heard of Ratra since then.....Based on his Wicket keeping we were forced to look at other options and then finally Dhoni seemed to fit in the bill .... but one failure and we have Karthik breaking down his neck... similarly Fast bowlers..... We tried so many bowlers but not persisted with them... the only one spared were Spinners and Middle order batsman
Is it coincidence that these players were performing also ....

Sabteam,
None of the reader is against such a player who is performing well, if yes then simply copy that message for us, I can bet u will not find a single one!!!
Why patience for the poor performer, why not to give a chance (WITH A HOPE) to other player who may perform, if he also does not perform then replace with another one ... till we get desired one
I am sure India is having lots and lots of good player but they have not been given CHANCE
Example-- Ranadev Bose has taken highest wickets in domestic against all the strong teams but he was not selected??? he is 27, BCCI will select him at the age of 30 and at this age it is really difficult for any youngester to perform as PACER at international level then PEOPLE LIKE YOU will criticise Ranadev Bose!!!
I agree abusing is bad but true criticism is a must, dont u thing our senior players are not spoiling the future of those youngsters who has performed wonderfully in domestic season
Should be try other player or wait till our poor performers get FORM???

Nidhi, everybody deserves a chance to set their foot in. Even in companies employees are selected on their potential and given some time to pick up their weight, correct?
And companies (with a modern outlook) just dont blindly pick people who have scored ranks, correct? There is an interview process I have recruited many people from mediocre schools with average GPAs and have found many perform much better than people from IITs and other ivy-league schools.
So, my point- Ranadev Bose (or anyone else) cannot be selected depending only on "numbers" only. And if Ranadev Bose is selected, he will also have his stutter-period/s. Heck Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne got thrashed pretty badly many times and have performed poorly in many . But the Aussie selectors saw their potential, their attitude and persisted with them- which made them champions.

Please check the posts when Jaffer scored 2nd duck in first test. and check today posts when jaffer scored century.
This is the mistake we r doing all the time.. bringing youngsters.. if they fail in 1 or 2 matches throw them out.. we r not providing enough chances to them to prove.. only Raina got enough chances but he wasted it. Did u remmember YAdav scored briliantly vs NZ in Zimbabwe in 2005 .. allrounder after his good performance he was thrown out of team. Ok tell me how many youngsters did good in domestic cricket from last 3 years... ( ranadev is exceptional ..or his bad luck ).
If u check Sachin scored better than any other India in this season.. but we want only sachin to out not sehwag...

I am not favouring a wrong system... but the way u want to build it is wrong.. Seniours shud be out.. but not all at the same time.. we need to bring a player and give him enough chances as raina.. only for outside sub continent tours.. In indian pitches every player is master.
If it is like that as u think that if anybody fail then throw him out.. then we lack players who has atleast 2 years experience.. It is not like that Raina failed so everyone fails.. a talented perosn may fail in first match or series.. we have to provide them like 10 matches per player 5 tests like that..
As u said b4.. when BCCI hears public opinion ..as we all thrashed him after 2 ducks... then when he was out of 2nd test then we might lose a player who has talent.. as we given chance to jaffer ..we need to give some chances to new youngsters.. but not all once.. one by one.. so with in 3 years we have players who has atleast 1 or 2 years international experience.
Do u think we need to select youngsters and send to ENG, AUS, SA? Can they score there?
When Jaffer made century in 185 balls everyone appreciated and Sachin made century in 163 balls everyone says he played for records and he played slowly.. why is the discrimination... cos we r in the situation to bash sachin and ganguly but we leave dravid for his poor captaincy.. he is older than sachin.. why dont we ask Dravid to retire if we ask Sachin.

Sabteam, u r making un necessary arguments and favouring a WRONG system, u know the facts even then fearing to accept that, be mature and show sportsman spirit
Just check the records of domestic cricket and u will fand a long list of players, u do not discuss facts and influenced by media reports

"whatever we discuss is never going to happen" is a very defeatist attitude. A lot of things that have happend in this world is because of people "discussing" and debating. BCCI is "under pressure" to reform because of the strong reactions of cricket-lovers. Otherwise, every player in the Indian cricket team would have been politician's kin.
Your attitude is very similar to people who dont vote in elections saying one vote wlil not make a difference.
I do agree that discussions on Ganguly vs Dravid, regionalism are immature but I dont agree that discussions and debates need to stop.
Any debate is better than no-debate; even stupid-debates are better than no debates.

u will see lot of Stupid debates like bringing players family and their personal life in the forums which is unnecessary. If u think these stupid debates r better than nothing.. then i cud imagine u r looking for fun than realistic debate. I am sure 90% in this forum opposing Dravid as captain even b4 from WC. But still he is captain.. is there any change? Media wrote against Sachin and Ganguly and lot of protests against them as Dhoni did wonders in WC. We Indians just follow never think abt it..aren't we? might be u think more but 80% indians believes what in TV shows.
But i strongly oppose: "Any debate is better than no-debate; even stupid-debates are better than no debates."
Something is better than nothing..( positively good means healthier discussion) but nothing is better than nonsense ( what happens now in each topic in rediff).

Wait a sec.thanks for the sanity and a little amicable atmosphere that sabteam,KC,Nidhi and JM have brought in this forum.I feel more than public opnion a learned opnion matters-by that I mean people who have experienced things first hand should be better equipped to give a balanced and realistic view point.Public opnion-no insult ment-is generally biased by emotional overresponses.I strongly feel that the best should play and the selection should be on basis of merit and performance and ability to translate talent into productive result.When some one is taken in adequate chance should be given to him e.g. raina was given a long haul but he did not produce to the level.regional selectors should be there to spot talent but from the pool of probables the national selectors should pick up the best suited for the type of game coming up.There should be no regional bias or favouratism at the final rung. Another small point as i feel,players earning comes to them when they are doing well-the moment the slide the sponsors vanish.So please leave Sahwag's mom out.she must have been put to light when things were good for him. Sabteam, yo uare ABSOLUTELY RIGHT on stupid, immature, abusive, cheap comments/discussions/debates, especially involving the players' personal life and family members.
I was very angry when rediff posted a pic of Dravid and his wife on a Kerala beach and implicitly invited people to throw cheap comments on him, his wife, his family etc etc. Some idiots went so far as to bring in religious affiliations of players into the discussion!!!!! Very shameful indeed!!! And media needs to stop instigating such hateful discussions.

Yes, as Nidhi has points, the family members need to learn to say "NO COMMENT".
It is not new that Jaffer scored a century but check his records, he always scored century in the last test of the series. He is not a consistent opener he is in the team just because of Sharad pawar as both are from mumbai. Thats y Rajesh pawar is also in the team and Ramesh Powar also. All are not international level players....

Ankur, Jaffer is not best opener in the world but compare him against other openers recent record in test. He clearly deserves his place. Also not necessary that its always for mumbai players to constantly prove there place as if rest are there by previledge.

Dear Ankur how many times have we seen Rajesh Pawar bowl and what makes you say that Ramesh Powar is not a quality bowler? If they are here just because of Mr.Pawar why this team does not feature Ajit Agarkar who happens to be one of our most successful bowlers in ODI's Do you mean to say that north zone players are not given chances VRV Singh has been given opportunities enough and more number of times and never has he succeded
i think when was came that time everybady though that no any other kipar can come in doni'era but i think kartik will be more use ful than dhoni that is (kartik) like dravid, if you remeber in afrika 20-20 match everybady said 20-20 matchs only for doni's type game but that time we won by kartik innings so hou can doni is batter than kartik.....

There are plenty of players to replace DRavid, Sachin and Ganguly. Like Dhoni, Yuvraj, Dinesh, Jaffer. They are fitter, better and superb.

didn't u see he got two lifes... one is pretty easy catch in slip ... he is trying to stick there and make run for loose ball... yesterday he is so uncomfortable in batting track... dont made him hero or attaching a master or dependable or other.. let him play and prove him in outside sub continent.

It's time Dinesh, Jaffer, Sreesanth,Dhoni, Yuvraj are given the key positions. Dravid, Sachin, Ganguly should be dropped in favor of younger players.
Remove Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid. Jaffer and Dinesh have proved themselves to be better than these old hags. Jaffer deserves the man of the series award.

It happened because Sachin and Ganguly deliberately played slow cricket. But, not this time. Jaffer and Dinesh have shown that there was no X-factor in their centuries. The young guns can do better than these old uncles.
FACT: Sachin Usually fails in semifinals and finals....But unfortunately he failed in the very first round this time...that is why India is out of WC....Can anyone APPOSE this?
