the first day's play shows that with lesser teams, india has done well to opt for five bowlers as its batsmen are capable of putting up a good show, thereby eliminating the need for an extra batsman. however, it is equally important to find a good balance in the team. that can not be said to be so at the moment. one may well ask, whether mahendra singh dhoni should have a place in the test team; and why in the heavens can't dinesh karthik double up as a wicket keeper as well? dhoni's place could then go to either laxman or yuvraj who are more competent batsmen. in case dhoni's fans protest then the option is to have another genuine opener start the innings with wasim jaffer - say gambhir or akash chopra or uthappa. i feel that karthik is being wasted as a fielder, when he has proved himself as a keeper in tests. but then, who dares to keep dhoni out, why annoy the sponsors?!

That DADa he is praised so much bcoz he is like a halleys comet (good players come from Bengal once in 76 years only).
Remove Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid. Jaffer and Dinesh have proved themselves to be better than these old hags. Jaffer deserves the man of the series award.
