I think India could withstand so much of Bangladesh pressure I am sure we have a bright future if we play like this.

Robin Uttappa can be an answer for opening problems of India
by on May 22, 2007 12:33 AM

Robin has scored 8 centuries for karnataka in the last season of Ranji. Because he puts runs quickly on board, you can expect a result within 5 days than a draw...

that is one of the worst comparisions i have ever seen. havnt u heard over and over again? india are one of the best teams on paper, but on the field its complete opposite.
i doubt shane watson wil be opening batting, maybe phil jacques, who will edge out karthik.
i rly like vvs, but he is inconcsistent and lazy, hussey is a good, dependable batsman. clarke is on great form, he wil prob do better than tendulkar. ZAHEER VS BRACKEN - EVEN STEVENS??? zaheer is good, but bracken is one of the best in the world now. one of the most accurate line and length bowler, still with good speed, he is miles ahead of zaheer or any indian bowler.
it is a huuuuge size 10000000 IF we play to our potential

Your team selection itself is appalling. Sehwag, Chopra ???????
You have doubts between Symonds and Katich.....Symonds makes it to the team on any given day and on any fitness level. What is Tait doing in the team. You need to watch a little bit more cricket.

RE:Let us do a systematic analysis!!
by ALIRIO SALDANHA on May 22, 2007 06:53 AM
Never seen any paper head-to-head comparision - that has any bearing on actual playing on the field!

It's all to do with the individual on the given day. Mate, records count for nothing. If you had to do a head-to-head count between the Indian team v/s Bangladesh in the World-Cup first round match, your analysis would be - A. Way Up B. Uncomparable C. Comfortably D. Best in the World E. Mr. Consistent, brick in the Wall F. Warhorse G. Stalwart H. Cunning, etc.

And when the game was played - some 17,18,19 year old teenagers showed what paper-analysis is, compared to field play.

Even in this series, inspite of every Indian having a better average against the Bangla players - the Banglas have taken the honours. They out-smarted and out-witted the Indians.

Did you see Dravid's body language, and the rest of the team? when Mortaza went on a rampage?

Man, it is the day's play - not a play on paper.

Nadal won on clay 80 times, but the other day he lost to his nemesis 6-0 in the 3rd set. At the end he said "I don't know what happened to me".

Alonso has Hamilton breathing down his neck...along with Massa and Kimmi.

It's all a day's play in a game - not paper!

Again, if you like paper - there is the Bookies Club. Join 'em! There's lot of money in the making!

Have fun, it is just a game! Gladiators - that's real sport!

If your tally-analysis means anything - you should join the Bookies Club. Your analysis will help them much more...then it will help the Indian cricket team.

And by the way - this rigmarole 'paper tigers' Team Indian - Man, they are great on paper, and on field - it is an one-off thing; or a yo-yo thing. Someday -up, next day, down. One innings - century, next innings, duck!

There is no consistancy with 'em guys! Whatmore should do something better with this bunch, now that BCCI has spoken to Dave.

Hope Whatmore does not get embroiled in the indo-crico-politico mess. As every adminstrator of the BCCI is in - (willingly of course)! It is part of the Indian-style of Administration.

Cheers without any hang-ups,

AL in Australia

Indian Pace Bowlers Vs Paki Pace Bowlers - Historic Comparision
by JK on May 21, 2007 11:52 PM  | Hide replies

It was sad to see RP Singh and VRV Sing fail to wrap up the tailenders. But the Indian fans wont be sad coz they got their Tandulkars and Gangulys to score centuries. Even in Gully cricket the common Indian mentality of the children and grown ups is to snatch the bat and do batting instead of doing the dirty job of bowling. They hate to bowl. They love to bat. Historiclly anything related to fitness is being frowned upon in this country. Greg could'nt change that mentaliy either. But how dose Pakistan produce such legends like Imran, Wasim and Waquar? It all lies in the PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES. The only requirement to be a fast bowler. Just have a look at the comparisions.

1. Imran - Perfect physical speciman
Kapil - Looked almost perfect but could bowl only medium fast

2. Wasim Akram - Broad shoulders and muscle
Srinath - Tall but no muscle

3. Waqar Younis - Another perfect body to bowl fast
Venkatesh Prasad - Tall and flabby.Absolutely no athletism

4. Shoiab Akthar - Brute of man. All muscle
Zaheer Khan - Looks like a Fat Slob.

Correct me if i am wrong.Apart from Kapil the medium pacer the rest have never been match winners.

Absolutely Right Ashish. They are downright Lazy. I mean all of us who play the gully cricket or whatever. Eating beef is not connected to fitness. If that was the case Zaheer Khan and Pathan should be match winners. they are Muslim and would have definitely had beef while they were young? But both are medium pace trundlers.

Ashish, u point is not true or make sense. Arnold may be veg, but all people who were veg were not arnold, but if you sees people consume beef most of them were strong compartively. What we want for our sports persons is the muscle power and if that could be extracted from beef or pork, I guess nothing wrong in consuming those. You may argue Elephants were vegi, but we want lions and tigers to be agressive, muscular with power.

Ishant Sharma or Randeb Bose will get their chances soon. But i dont hope much coz we are notoriously famous for not working out. You know the problem is once a newcomeer gets into the hallowed ranks of the indian team he loses his head and forgets the basics. He becomes a star.Beef or no Beef they wont and cant work out coz they wont have time.Period.

Why Kumble didn't bowl
by Tessy Philji on May 21, 2007 11:31 PM  | Hide replies

Is Anil Kumble injured, why has he not bowled, why we Indians do the same mistake again and again, playing five fulltime bowlers but not using them all to their potential. Also Why Jaffer has been chosen and not Gambhir who has already shown his potential in One day.

Kumble bowled over by Bangla sherbet
PTI
PrintCommentMail

CHITTAGONG, May 18: Anil Kumble may have foxed hundreds of batsmen with his googlies, but he has been bowled over by the taste of wood apple sherbet here.

Kumble liked the preparation so much that he asked the chef of hotel Peninsula, where the Indian team has put up for the first Test, the recipe for the drink.

Cricket manager Ravi Shastri has been relishing his favourite yoghurt during breakfasts and lunches. The lanky former Indian captain has declared during a media conference after the second ODI in Dhaka that yoghurt and honey were his staple diet every morning.

The hotel has laid out a sumptuous spread for Rahul Dravid's side, with Indian, Chinese and Bangladeshi cuisines vying for attention.

'Moila fish', a delicacy in this part of the world, was also served to the Indians during a dinner on May 14.

The fish, which is very costly, is considered good for eyesight as it is rich on vitamins.

"Most of the items on the menu are Indian. We have specially prepared lot of dishes keeping in mind the Indian palette," hotel officials said.

The dishes were finalised in line with a guideline given by Indian team physical trainer Gregory Allen King, who has advised the hotel to desist from serving spicy food.

"A lot of items on the menu has been chosen by King," said a top executive.

The majority of the items are vegetarian, and South Indian dishes like dosa are also being served.

"They are very satisfied. They are really enjoying the food," said a chef.

No Need to change the Indian Team!!!! This team is the best...
by jose ferns on May 21, 2007 11:14 PM

I think this team is the best..Ganguly,Shewag,Tendulkar,Dravid,Yuvraj,Ms Dhoni,Harbhajan,Kumble,Zaheer,Agarkar & Patel..BCCI should make them Play till every player decides to retire..Every Player should intimate the board 3 Years before retiring..Hence ranji should be abolished..this will save lot of money for bcci which can be invested into infrastructure development..Board should clearly tell the ranji players when there would be vacancy..Atleast these players will not be humilated by the boards musical chairs..If these recommadation are implemented u will see the difference in India's game..since the players jobs will be secure they will play better...Atleast look at the team..Its a advertisers paradise .. Since only money can sustain cricket and all fools here including me..Who cares if india wins ...We can definately make dollars????
