The reaction has only enhanced shakeel for whatever he is! such outbursts should be ignored atleast for the sake of giving no credence to the individual! Leave him, for he knows not what he is speaking.

Inappropriate outburst
by Shridhar Iyer on May 18, 2007 05:32 PM  | Hide replies

His comments sound very arrogant and in poor taste.

The Editor should have ensured that it is filtered, and a more decent one got printed in the publication.

With best wishes,
V.Srinivasan.

This onle tells the standard of Bangladeshi Newspapers that a person
who has never played in an International Match is writing a column.
No doubt the performance of Bangladeshi Cricketers has improved but stating India as Minnows only tells the frustation of the writer and nothing else

This should have happened at World Cup
by India on May 18, 2007 02:03 AM  | Hide replies

I wish Chappell had quoted those same words Shastri said and India had taken no prisoners at the World Cup. But there it happened the other way round. These wins are not the same as in the World Cup. India still belong with Bangla at the elite Minnows Club.

Shakeel whatever, wish you read this space! first ques who are you, when was the last time you hit a ball, forget where it went, Shastri has one of the finest cricketing head in the game rite now, and he has proved it not only with his batting & bowling but also his by his expert comments, well somehow you dont understand the language cricketers speak..better learn that before the next sighting of hailey's comet (2061) lets hope Bdesh win their first test series before that!

Empty Vessels make more noise
by sistla prasad on May 17, 2007 02:14 PM  | Hide replies

Nothing to worry about kaseem's statements , it is just that empty vessels make more noise. Couple of fluke wins will not make them world beaters.Even Kenya entered the SF in world cup , Where are they now? for the Kind Information of Mr.Kaseem let him not forget that the so called world beaters Australia has not won a series in India till date.

If the win was a fluke it is most distressing because we were weak in front of Bangladesh or otherwise they played a fantastic game.

Sistla,
The Aussies thumped us 2-1 in the last test series, if you care to check your records. They did it in India. The only test we won was the on a minefield of a pitch where the ball was exploding in all directions. That match was always going to be won by the team batting first, and we got lucky in winning the toss. Also, by that time, we had already lost the series 2-0.

I guess ur forgetting the time we were thrashed by the aussies in India during the 2004 - 2005 Border - Gavaskar trophy. Anyway nobody likes the fact that aussies are world beaters and people like Gavaskar always want to find some fault or excuse with it. But the bottom line is currently they are the best and how much ever u want to crib on it its not goin to change a thing

Greatest Joke of the Century.........
by sundaravadivel j on May 17, 2007 12:48 PM  | Hide replies

Congrats Kasem for have gained a huge publicity just by making unbelievably idiotic comments. Before this article, no one outside bangladesh knows u. but after this so many know u for ur lack of english n lack of cricket knowledge. Great work man. You even made me to reply you three times in two days.
Its amazing to know that this article is
(i) From a unknown writer from a real minnow country who have never ever won a cricket series outside their ouwn country(even in their own, they have won only against zimbabwe n kenya)
(ii) From a writer who himself proclaims to have played(!?) cricket in 70s, but whose name cannot be seen in cricinfo.com.
(iii)From a English Writer(!?), who cannot even understand the simple english used by Mr.Ravi Shastri.
Great work yaar
keep it up
but first understand what others say and what your are replying them, whom you are attacking and whom you are defending.
first try to improve your english knowledge and improve your cricket knowledge, your know criketing history, your countries cricketing history and then think of writing article.
Every human who reads this can understand that you have don it for publicity and nothing else. but there are so many other ways to gain publicity than simply writing something rubbish.

RE:Greatest Joke of the Century.........

Hype befits a team and team manager who are at the top of their game and are able to consistently show good results against good and bad teams!! For Shastri to crow about not taking prisoners is outrageous because this Indian team itself is in prison, the prison of non performance. All our world beating top batting lineups are mere tar road dadas. I would like to know how this bowling attack expects to get even England out twice; take out Zahir Khan and the rest including Kumble will not amount to much in those circumstances. I would put the wicket taking capability of this attack at about 10 per test, mind you you need twenty even to reach anywhere close to winning. Except Dravid no one including Sachin in his present state can play the moving ball with any conviction, the less said about our geriatric fielding abilities the better.

Cricket Lovers .........Beware !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by thahalka on May 17, 2007 12:38 PM

Please dont sit and watch cricket on TV continuously....... ! Just check the final result and proceedings at the end of the day...

This will save your lot of time, energy, frustration......
Students lose their focuss in studies.... Workmen lose focuss on their work....

Hence please try to get out of this sit-and-watch habit....
BCCI, Media and Ad agencies are instilling the cricket mania drug into the public and making money out of it.....
