Venkatesh Prasad has to do something
by anu ranga on Jul 15, 2007 08:17 PM  | Hide replies

venky has to get his act right. He knows the english conditions very well. He should now focus on our three prime bowlers , zaheer, rp and sreeshant . If India has to win the first test and get things in the right perspective, venky should do something very quickly.

Recall Irfan Pathan to Indian team. He has shown much improvement in bowling under Lillie's guidance. His exprearance and also attitude shall held Indian team in England.

The calls for Agarkar are getting louder. Rahul has his say: "Awful bowling by India after a masterful display by Tendulkar. Bose and Sharma have looked very mediocre, after all the hype surrounding them. All the talk of swing, seam and bounce seem a joke! Get Agarkar on the next flight to Heathrow!"

There is no doubt Agarkar has a god father. But His performances are in way way inferior to that of other fast bowlers in th team as far as ODIs are concerned.

agarkar is the only option left
india don't have any bowlers and won't have one
in india nobody cares about bowlers only cares about batsmen
don't know why.
agarkar is ok , he has taken lots of wicket.
he is the best option we have got as of now

Both Randeb and ishant are much better bowlers compared to Agarkar if you consider giving runs to opposition. Inclusion of Agarkar shall boost England chances.

Agarkar is best choice in current situation. Ask SA (especially Kalis) if he can swing the ball in English conditions. As for other pace bowlers, Balaji is in hibernation, Nehra still striving for 1st Ranji wicket since 2005, Munaf is unfit yet again, new crop (VRV, Bose, Ishant) is, well.. new, inexperienced and still mediocre. We don't need a 140KmPh bowler in English conditions, we need a 135KmPh bowler with ability to swing and reverse the ball. Agarkar is the best bet IN CURRENT SITUATION.

Match vs lions
by sweetguy on Jul 15, 2007 07:54 PM  | Hide replies

Indian Team has done fairly good in batting by scoring 383. This appears to be high scoring match with both teams batting very well. Bowling looks very weak especially India has suffered a lot with only Jahir Khan bowling well. Romesh Pawar will be a big failure in England with both bat and ball. He and Kumble have not made any impact on opposition. Lions going strong at 172 for 2 will definitely challenge India by scoring 300 plus in the second innings also. Jaffer, Saurav, karthik should bat well in the second. This should be a final chance for Wasim jaffer to stake his claim in the test.

you can't say that its a final chance for Wasim Jaffer. he is much better and dependable player. he has shown great temperament in the recently played cricket he is just the rt choice opener compared to any other opener. its just the practise match and that shall not b counted.....he deserves more chances. he has lived india in england as well as WI........

Wasim Jaffer has only performed on flat pitches. How he performs on bouncy pitches or in swing conditions remains to be seen.

I though today is the last day with 40-2 overs left. Is it not not 3-day game? But England may declare to see how the iNdian fare in the 2nd innings? or should they ? It will do a favor to Indian team by providing them a good real situation batting practie.

crap. 171 is inconsequential true. but if he clicks its well and good. being a critic will have us one foot firmly lodged in our mouth, the foot-in-mouth syndrome. i think its good to criticize sachin. see, all the 10dulkar baiting ha him totally focussed now :))

Please spare Sachin. Why people are after his blood even if he scores well I don't understand. Why people still talk about WC? Now that Indian team playing well let us support them. In India critising National teams in forums has become fashion. By doing so some people think that they will be considered experts in the game. Shit. Those critics are those who do not know abcd of Cricket but want their team to win on everyday!!

I think that 171 was a pretty good score in a warm up match. However,I believe that Tendulkar cannot lead the Indian team.He does not have the skills required of a leader. He does not know who to bowl and who not to.In that respect I reckon Dravid and Ganguly are better leaders.Infact even Sehwag has leadership qualities.
However, there is no doubt that Tendulkar is a batting genius.I wish him all the best for his future.
It is true that it is not necessary that the batsman/bowler of a team is also a good captain or for that matter a good leader is always the best player in the team.

In India and Pakistan , if you want to revive cricket , then work is needed at the grassroot level. We are just producing bogus cricketers through faulty selections and politics. These people are not doing anything positive for the global image of Indian cricket. We also need to work on our pitches and make them faster.
Why don't we look at the model followed in Australia and implement it here? Of course some modifications will be required. All we'll be doing is importing the structure which is well -proven and mature.

Come on Man! If he hadnt played well yesterday, then you people would have told that Sachin is not a good captain, he fails to perform when the team is in crisis etc. Remember India was tottering at 14/3 & 65/4 and he alongwith Yuvraj & then with Dhoni did the rescue part. I guess you forgot the two successive 90 scores he scored in the recently concluded Ireland tour against SA. Under whose captaincy did he score? I do agree that Sachin was not the sachin who used to be some 5-6 years back but for that matter, blindly criticising someone doesnt augur well. Please be reasonable when you pinpoint faults at others.
