So you are supporting Pakistan team now? Or may be Australia....

Our guys may fail at crucial times, but I think sachin, dravid, ganguly and some of the youngsters are the best in our country (may be in the world). All they need to do is improve consistency and teamwork. Which I think except Australia all other teams are struggling - we are no exception. Relax, support and motivate

The australian and english teams are not as stressed up or pushed and monitored by fans as Indians this is the main reason why they choke .

Best Bowling option
by Sanjeev Verma on Jul 15, 2007 11:04 PM  | Hide replies

Currently RP Singh, Z. Khan and Sreesanth seem to be the best option for India. Munaf and Piyush could have been good addition but we should not talk about them since they were not included in 16.

by baljit issar on Jul 15, 2007 11:03 PM

do not read too much in the match against the lions(?).the indians have enough strenght to make it a fighting outfit.the bigger the stage the better the performance.the true picture will emerge when the test(that is what i mean TEST)gets underway.batting is no worry-bowling wise if our team bats first and piles up a huge total(ala auusies)then the bowlers can perform with their tails up.GOOD LUCK TEAM INDIA-THIS IS THE LTMUS TEST. FORGET B'DESH.

bring back agarkar
by raju on Jul 15, 2007 10:12 PM  | Hide replies

he is the only bowler who has won a match single handed ly against aus "IN AUS". remember 6 for 42? sad thing is that the next series after he achieved this feat, he was dropped. never has been allowed to settle down in test cricket and consistently picked and dropped. give him 3 to 4 tests on a trot and he will always produce magic for india. last time india toured england, he was the only bowler who could get a hold of micheal vaughan. vaughan if u remember was at the peak of his career then scoring one century after the other.

Do you still support Agarkar? You are a die hard fan of Agarkar.May be the one and only supporter of Agarkar in whole of India. Raju do not worry. As long as Dilip is heading the selection committee Ajit will certainly find a place in the team. There is quota for west zone players in Indian team. Since very few takers Ajit has golden chance. He has already been included in probables in 20-20 WC team. We need Bujurg among the youngsters to wake them up in the morning and make them sleep early in the night. Ajit fits the bill.

We dont any bowlers. Spinners enough to play. All should be a batsman. Because we are not able to find a good bowler. either they are getting injury or sick. no strength nothing. Irfan was good but team throws them due to they dont want to have an all rounder.

Agarkar is best choice in current situation. Ask SA (especially Kalis) if he can swing the ball in English conditions. As for other pace bowlers, Balaji is in hibernation, Nehra still striving for 1st Ranji wicket since 2005, Munaf is unfit yet again, new crop (VRV, Bose, Ishant) is, well.. new, inexperienced and still mediocre. We don't need a 140KmPh bowler in English conditions, we need a 135KmPh bowler with ability to swing and reverse the ball. Agarkar is the best bet IN CURRENT SITUATION.

what options do we have? To win a test, we need to take 20 wickets and current bowling just can't do it. We have to bolster our bowling, take a chance with Agarkar. Use 6-5 pattern, play 5 bowlers... We have nothing to lose.

we need to have 5 bowlers to go in for this the problem is that we do not have a single quality bowler other than Kumble who will be at loss in english conditions 7 -4 seems safe as we will loose with a lesser margin and possibly we might put a decent total and put england under pressure . Sachin / Saurav all can bowl as effective as our specialist bowlers

England Lions 2nd Innings
by sweetguy on Jul 15, 2007 09:30 PM

It is really shocking to see Yuvraj, Karthik and Dhoni making mockery of cricket in the II innings against Lions. There was no serious cricket. Indian players were "enjoying" instead of using the occasion for serious bowling practice. Yuvraj bowls by mocking Dave Mohammed, walking instead of running to bowl, Dhoni appealing without any reason, Karthik imitating the batsman while bowling! Whats happenning??. Strauss had enough of this nuisance and has made a declaration. Indian juniour players acting shamelessly in the field under captaincy of Sachin? Because their regular bowlers failed miserably to remove Lions batsmen our players resorting to this kind of mockery. Our bowlers are more oncerned about taking rest than bowling. Where is Venky, Venga and Chandu? They must also be sleeping under warm carpets in English weather!! God save India !!

Indian Pace Bowling at the bottom of world class including B'desh
by Susobhan Ghosh on Jul 15, 2007 08:36 PM  | Hide replies

It appears that we do not have a single pace bowler of test standard. What is the remedy. One of W. Indies friend told me that when Indian team used to visit W.Indies during Hall-Gilchrist era, they used to shout at Indian players: :"Eat Beer and Drink Beaf". May be they had a point. All the countries eating beef (even B'desh) have some pace bowlers.

Gujrat: Please do not start a riot there!!

Mr. Ghosh, go and feed Beef to Mr. Ranadeb Bose first. His bowling speed is at best military pace.

Srinath and Kapil Dev have already shown that you would not have to eat beef to bit good pace bowlers. What you have to say about VRV Singh? Also, most successful fast bowlers depend upon skill then speed to get fast wickets. Bengal used to have one Barun Burman with lot of speed and no bowling skills.

It looks like Mr. Ghosh is suffering from some kind of inferiority complex. I think that Punjab can give us good bowlers because of good physique. Chinese people eat all kind of meats but they do not have any physique. Pathan does not has any pace but he is a very effective bowler. Kapil Dev was one of the most successful fast bowler because of his skills in bowling late out swingers.

Indian bowlers.
by sweetguy on Jul 15, 2007 08:26 PM  | Hide replies

Indian selectors made a mistake of pusing ishant Sharma too early to International cricket. There were more seasoned and experienced bowlers in Indian who should have been given opportunity. Ishant has bowled 15 no balls in ten overs so far bowled by him in the II innings against English Lions which shows his immaturity. Yo Mahesh of Tamilnadu was a much better bowler who has been praised by recent as well as old cricketars as one of the best prospcts. Ishant should not be selected for one dayers against England.

Agreed 100%. It's same as rushing to play 19 year old Raina, instead of helping him gain experience at Ranji level. We should follow Aussie policy of not playing a player unless he's 28 years experienced cricketer, strong both mentally and physically.
