Great player

I am saddened to hear the passing away of a great batsmen. Though Gavaskar got most of the recognition (deservedly so) Sardesai played a pivotal role too. He was in oblivion until he got selected for the 1971 tour of W.Indies. Kudos to the selectors for selecting him. Anyone know the names of the selectors in that era? Must be Vijay Merchant.

Your opinion about Rajdeep is B.S. and it is out personal jelousy. Even though he used to be good criketer during his college days he chose a different path in life. he is big success as a jouralist and C.N.N.IBN is a proof of his great ablility.

Dear P S

Please have the basic decency of not hurting a grieving son. If you cannot console him it is OK. But not brickbats at this moment please.

K K Murthy, Bahrain.

played cricket like it ought to be
by Ashok Gupta on Jul 03, 2007 12:01 AM

Hearfelt condolences, those days of radio commentary excitement generated whenever he came into bat as he was a fighter and crafted an innings. We knew that he will hang on. He has left behind a role model for youngsters that to play hard is the thing and play cricket.Goodbye Mr Desai, may your soul rest in peace.

Yes, we are proud of both, as much as we are proud of excellence and good intentions. In a school lost forever in the vicissitudes of ill conceived performances, some names will always stand out much taller than many of our later heroes.

As we celebrate 75 years of out Test Cricket, if we ponder honestly, the performances of such like Vinoo Mankad, Polly Umrigar, Subhash Gupte, Dilip Sardesai, Chandu Borde stand much taller... but then, in an age where a Viren Sehwag asks, "Mankad who" all is indeed lost but for the shouting and the flashy lifestyles..

Sorry, his son is totally sychophant of the muslims, he is a disgrace to gournalism. But made good money after polarised riot reporting.I personally feel it is Sad that such a great father had such a son.
