fokat ka maal khane ki aadat ho gayi hai hindustaniyon ki. Nimbus has paid $612 million... do u have any idea how many zeroes r there in this figure. They haven't spent that money for charity. If DD wants to telecast, buy the rights. Its straight!! And jahan tak public ka sawal hai, paisa do maza dekho. Bcoz of this fokat atitude, politicians r sucking every single rupee. wheeewwww
In my point of view,Mr.Priyaranjandas Munshi is making a hay of it. When Mr.Thawani has asked the Prasar Bharti to send their engineers to Kanpur why did the engineers didn't go there? This is Q.1.Question no.2 is why was the minister criticising Mr.Thawani while he was speaking politely? Mr.Thawani didn't say that they will not give the signal. Moreover Mr.Dasmunshi said that he is ready to even resign his post but he "will not bow down to the tyrants".There was no need for that comment. So,in my opoint of view Mr.Dasmunshiis making this issue bigger than it seems.
India playing in India and not showing the match in DD, itis shameful. The BCCI should give such an agreement to NUMBUS that all the matches play in India by Indian team should show in DD.
If the politicians entred in a boady like BCCI, we can expect this type of corruptions from BCCI. They may be entred to the BCCI with his personal interest.
What is the future of the BCCI, GOD can only say.
BCCI very much know that there is a Supreme Court Order that the matches should show in DD. Then how BCCI, Shri Sharad Pawar, given such a contract ? He can only say, and he is responsible for that. He is fooling the Indian public.

Where is our BCCI Chief Mr.Sharad Pawar????? Does he know 's that India playing at home cannot be viewed by the home fans itself. Its a shame. Really a big shame. One day international and no live telecast sometimes we have the telecast of unofficial matches or even the the domestic Ranji & County matches so what went wrong now, who is held responsible for it. Why should the public suffer for your mistakes. The BCCI is least bothered for this and never had a concren of what is happening. Ultimately the loss is there's and public's.
RE:7 mins delayed transmission
by Ravi Hodlur on Jan 23, 2007 05:32 PM
yes, i don't know how come they got to this magic no of 7 min...i guess they wanted to have 1 over delay basically
The terrestrial system is as of today a monopoly of Prasar Bharti, for good or bad reason. So except for Prasar Bharti - no one can own it or sell it. BCCI should have sold it to Prasar Bharti as a separate package and this matter should have between BCCI and PB and not between Nimbus and PB. This is one reason why no broadcaster is arguing against it. Unfortunately the way DD delivers it - there is leakage of signals which makes Nimbus' delivery to cable homes redundant. Unfortunately - Dasmunshi has been using foolish arguments based on patriotism ( which we all know is the last resort of scumbags ) to push the case when the case is purely within the realms of contract act and existing laws. Another point of surprise is why would someone pay 621 million $ for something that is freely available ? Commercially - it appears to be a rather poor decision when respected names like ESPN-STAR and TEN sports have stayed away from. Owners of NIMBUS have stretched their luck too far without understanding the level to which passion for cricket exists in India...65 bucks a month for a channel is just too much for this market.

I agree with u fully Anurag .It is really nice to see that u r not blinded by the passion of cricket and are viewig things as they are. But I partially disagree with your last statement.NIMBUS might have made a bad Commercial decision but scums like Priyanranjan Dasmunshi has no business to tell it on how to conduct its business. IN Fact I donot understand whay India should be having a Info & Broadcasting Minister except for may be reawarding sycopahant politicians

To add to my last stmt,We can not expect to get all the benefits of free economy and not pay the price for it.If NIMBUS sales its chaneel at 65 Bucks month it is its prerogative.U don't want don't buy it.
This shows how we all are humiliated . in our own land we deprived of seeing the match just for the sake of private interest rather than national interest.
The first culprit is BCCI, whihc has gone blind in its greed for earning money. DD had a flare up with Ten Sports some time back. BCCI could have easily predicted that this issue would come up again. But BCCI chose not to put any clause for feed sharing for India's matched. It just grabbed money from NEO and gave it rights unconditionally.
Why does NEO after paying million buck will share feed with DD and why can't DD show NEO;s feed without its own adds. Prsar Bharati want to earn money from NEO's feed. If Prasar Bharti is concerned about people getting to watch Cricket, then it should have shown NEO feed with NEO's adevertisement. Why does DD want to earn money from rights it could not win from BCCI.
BCCI should be held accountable for this choas. Meanwhile Prasar Charati to improve it programming quality to earn revenues and not from feeds of other channels.
RE:Who is worng BCCI, DD-Prasar Bharati or NEO
by abhijeet kenkare on Jan 23, 2007 04:34 PM
I agree to HrishikeshPatil's views. To only add,I must say that BCCI is under the stewardship of a person who is also union cabinet minister(holding a very important portfolio), a member of parliament, head of a political party, head of various trusts and sporting bodies, and somebody whois now bidding for ICC chairmanship!!!! If this gentleman, instead of doing gross injustice to everything he is doing, concentrates and dedicates himself to only one of them, shall be doing a great service to the sport, country and himself. DD, BCCI,NEO and Sharad Pawar are all to blame.Shame. Shame.
RE:No standard sports channel in india
by vm kumar on Jan 23, 2007 04:57 PM
there is a DD sports channel ,if it is correct. Matches/Spl sports events can be telecast in this. Quote: Ref of a letter above, Yes this statement written in that letter is appears to be correct ( a letter from Nagpur states as below) BCCI very much know that there is a Supreme Court Order that the matches should show in DD. Then how BCCI, Shri Sharad Pawar, given such a contract ? He can only say, and he is responsible for that. He is fooling the Indian public.
