Beware of Media
by Subhadip Sen on Jan 23, 2007 01:38 AM  | Hide replies

Friends, these News paper agencies themselves are facist, as unless they print something like this which provokes us against each other, no one is going to buy them. really cheap. Insulting a state Orissa, is insulting India as whole. What right TOI has to do this. They should immediately apologise for using these words. Its true media helps us to know about events, but at the same time its Media resposible for spreading communal fire and making us fight among each other by jumping into a conslusion even before there is a final hearing from a Court. Let us all unite against these cheap money minting agencies. I should say, in recent years, Indian News paper Media has become the worst media in the world, which can be sold out to anyone who has money to spare. None of the TV channel news focus on our core issues of develpment or poverty and common people. Three issues are fixed in News, Either Politician, Celebrity or Cricket.

yahi bikta hai india main.

this is why you are posting on a media portal in a cricket section, then why blame TV for showing the three.

What is racism? raicsm is being an indian.
we reacts when someone else points a finger on us.

But we want racism in our country, we want reservation on a caste, we want reservation within a state, we want to say he is hindu, he is muslim.
Have you ever said I am an Indian ?
We all are racist and it is true.

Perhaps an answer to middle finger shown by Chappel
by Subhadip Sen on Jan 23, 2007 01:20 AM

Too much of experiments with Indian sentiments results in this. One should remember the way Chappel had shown his middle finger while getting inside the bus. In recent series, we have seen all his past experiments proved to be total failure. I feel captain should also have his own say and own ways of backing his team or else captain will also have the same fate someday.

Bhai, mere ko ek baat bataao - when these same fans buy products because of their heroes' ads, nobody raises a finger. Everybody in the world talks about Indians' passion for the game. It is the same passion that gives billions to ICC and pawar and also runs billions worth of side business. So, what's wrong if someone chose this method to express his passion for the game?
As far as chappel goes, there are quite a few interesting comments right here that justify this action. :-)) In fact, I just can't stop laughing. In the end, yes, I do feel sorry for chappel but one should also feel sorry for the guy who was bowled to underarm, right?
Yes, the guy was foolish but I think this is more of a security issue than an emotive one.
But seriously, guys, thanks for the laughs. The sense of humour of rediff readers appears to be good. :-))

yes that's true.

I had a good laugh, when i first heard of this incident. later felt sorry.

if this act has been taken place with some other player rather then chappel, it may have hurt me first.

Chappel made so much controversy in last year, that any act related to him gives you a laugh first rather being a serious thought.

Chappel, Man of the year
by Gmail Rediffmail on Jan 23, 2007 12:26 AM  | Hide replies

I dont want to drag the point, what happened today and why ?

But I must say, Media should be thankful to Chappel, as Greg has given enough masala in the last 18 months to run their show and make people stick to them. I am surprised why Greg has not got any Sponsors or Advertisements like Pepsi or Coke. Chappel was more than in frames and talks in comparison to any other Cricketer or Bollywood Star.

And I must say, If Chappel remains coach for another 2 years, he will forget about cricket, and can easily go for a Indian Parliament Seat Election.
Good Luck Chappel, Great career ahead.

The last couple of days have seen reams of newsprint being devoted to racism thanks to the Shilpa Shetty fiasco.

Now today's Time of India carries on its front page the line - "Oriya fanatic assaults Greg Chappell" .

While we competely agree that it was a dastardly act - what kind of racist headline is this. Why should the entire Oriya race be abused just becoz of one abnormal jerk who did this dastardly act ? And what right does this reporter Sandeep Mishra have to be this racist - though I have a feeling that he himself is an Oriya.

Jade Goody was sacked and thrown out of Big Brother for her racist comments - what action will TOI take against Sandeep Mishra for being a RACIST bastard.

We are extremely disappointed that a reputed Newspaper like TOI has also become so RACIST in its articles on its front page.

This is foolish from the guy who did this ...

This will bring more negative publicity to the state of Orissa. Isn't Orissa's quota for negative pblicity full. Why invite more?

Faneendra... hooliganism has happened in Bangalore as well as in the Ahmedabad, in two of the most peaceful states in India. Think about it. In fact, I don't remember any such incident in Bihar.

Chappel CConfused
by Indra Sengupta on Jan 22, 2007 11:30 PM  | Hide replies

Chappel must be an uterly confused man by now! His premises of belief are shaken!!
Remeber what he felt and talked about Saurav.
Slap no one. Those abservations are no longer valid.
Slap no two. He had to digest the chief selector playing as a super coach.
Now the slap.
Slap no three- the physical slap.
He never imagined such a day perhaps. He talked freely about our politicians, showed obnoxious jestures towards the spectators and yet enjoyed the supreme confidence of all around him.
Nothwithstanding all these physically slapping the man was really deplorable.
There are other ways of proving him wrong.
The way Ganguly did is one example.
Anyway let us feel for this man suffering humiliation in an alien land just for few bucks!!!
