Yes it is a definite positive developments. Still DD is the only succour for all persons who do not have either Cable or STBs Persons who has the temerity to call it sheer arm twisting tactics shd be aware that they by saying so are only distancing themselves from the vast multitudes of DD viewers.

So everytime the Govt. does wrong things in the name of "National Interest" there is a Mob to cheer them ahead! The Question is not Nimbus nor the Cricket Crazy Public, it is the lack of Moral Values in the Govt's Actions. Govt. Will loose its' Credibility in honouring Contracts which is much more important than CRICKET ITSELF.

U R 100% right, but for a slight modification. Its not govt. but Prasar bharathi that wakes up only when there is a home series. While every one accepts the fact that this entertainment should reach the nooks n corners of the country irrespective of wealthy n poor - the government should take steps in that direction and not by using blackmailing politics with the private operators.

As you guys are telling that Govt is being bully......think of the places where Neo sports is not being transmitted. That means we should not watch cricket and only those supporting Nimbus have all rights to watch ? Why? Because they have money...they can afford to have Neo sports transmitted to their TV sets... Don't you see Nimbus is being bully too....when they are asking huge for subscriptiom. They might have spent millions ..... they earn billions just by Ads. You think they should not have iota of National Interest, when they are earning fron this land, they owe some consideration for common masses.

Why cant DD show the match as well as the adv that nimbus provide, if their interest is to serve the common man. Also i dont think anyone stops DD from bidding for such matches and then they can earn those billions.

DD uses our tax money and it is budgeted.....like we can go to only normal theatres not to multiplexes like you rich guys. So DD can't pay high.....and therefore very soon a rule will be imposed

Nimbus are not philanthropists, they are business, with a motive to make a profit...and who is not? There is nothing wrong is making money, if thats what you are hinting at! They played by the rules. If the rules were being unfair to the "Common man", gov. of India must have intervened and added conditions to the tender to make it fair to everyone. The tender was public information to which DD too was invited, if DD felt the rules were unfair why did they not move the court then? To put things plainly, gov. of India are conniving thieves, who waited for an opportune moment to snatch Nimbus' rights without paying a penny for it!

What is this "National Interest" invoved in Cricket? Say National Viewing. But arm twisting and Daylight Robbery thet the Govt.is resorting to are bad even to provide entertainment to the Common Man. By this logic tomorrow the Govt. Can ransack Private Godowns in the name of "National Interest"!

Dear Mr. Abhishek, as per the directive of Govt. of India, any pay channel can only charge Rs. 5 as the fee per month per viewer home. Please update your knowledge before commenting on such issues. Also may I ask you why is DD not interested to share their revenue with Nimbus? We all have seen that the quality of the broadcast is pathetic. Nimbus might have used the revenue it earned to upgrade the quality in times to come. But now we will have to live with it atleast till 2010.But then with people like you in the society who want everything for free, don't we deserve it?

Mr. Bhatia, Nimbus does ask for Rs. 38 per month per viewer home. You kindly update your knowledge...... Yes I am a poor man and I do not have money like you.......and I want it free now what !! I hope you exercise ur franchise and pay ur taxes too ... after paying hefty tax govt owes to masses and they are taking steps to make it available to poor people like us. Yes immanuel.You are right.Even Iam fooled by this.I bought the set top box to watch cricket matches.I waited for more than 2 years,but no one took action.But now the govt has taken action and asked DD to live telecast the matches.Our Govt is always late.Loss for me is 3000rs for set top box,1000 rs for installation and 200 rs per month.

thats true i also not seen match on Neo sport cause the cabel operator is not transmitted it.
7 minutes, 7 hrs or 7 days of delay doesn't matter any more as this team India is performing pathetically. Till the time players llike Sehwag, Tendya and the likes are in this team... it is just not worth to watch these non-performers.

Dear Sahib, You seem to miss the point! It is not about India performance. It about doing the right thing and honoring a contract...which the Gov. of India is violating at the moment!
Nimbus has spent a huge amount of money in buying the rights for all the International matches from BCCI and a telecasting the matches in a very good manner allowing us to see all the deliveries of an over and ot like Doordarshan which starts airing advertisements before even the over is finished. This is really bad on the part of Prasar Bharati to do such armtwisting.
