What about other seniors like Srinath, Ganguly and Laxman? Srinath is one of the only genuine fast medium bowler India has had for a long time before he retired.

You BC,MC bong everyone is aware and knows who licked whose to become captain of the team.
What was the basis of these awards? Were the other people facilitated in the same manner when those happened in their carrier? Totally regionalist approach has been taken to pick up the awardees. BCCI has ceased to be an Indian national body - it should be now called Bombaiah Cricket Croonies of India.

Very true. BCCI is a political body now no different from our corrupt law makers.
why is there no ward for yuvaraj singh who helped us win the 20 20 world championship....wat about saurau ganguly who was man of the latest test series... i think sharad pawar should quit soon to avoid politics within the BCCI.
RE:wat about yuvaraj singh !
by Ram on Dec 16, 2007 08:42 AM
He has already got Rs. 1 crore for his performance in T20 and apart from that one of the worlds best sports car also. To be frank even Sachin was not facilitated in this manner at any point of time. I guess even he would not be complaining!

yuvraj does not have a ...kar as a surname or else he would have been at top of the list. Why the decaying 10dulkar getting it every year.He had a ball during his shinny days and still getting it during rainy days being a ...kar.WHO WILL PUT BELL IN THE CAT--bbci? After all BBCI is the richest cricket body on Earth. So Politicians are after it's control srtings.

First do your research on domastic cricket and then talk. Look at how many time Mumbai has won Ranji trophy. With the exception of Delhi, the other winners have all been from the south. Cricket has always been traditionally more popular in the south and maharashtra and hence the number of people from there historically. It's gained in popularity everywhere since India won the WC in 1983. So over a period of time, there will be a more spread out distribution represented in the Indian team.

Do not forget that Kapil Paahji imbibed blood in the anaemic Indian team. Under your regime Indian team were loosers and then Kapil Paahji won the world cup for us. You guys started politics against Kapil Paahji. You guys are parochial.

Arguments like these finally boil down to only this question; why have an Indian team at all? If "southie scoundrels" and "maharashtrian kars" are so evil, why have them in the team or even as countrymen? With attitudes like this let's not pretend false patrostism that India is one and all that. Maybe its better for you to fight for a punjab cricket team and maybe a separate nation. It is not fair to call oneself an Indian, but think on regional lines.

Lemme know South's contribution in Indian Independance. Don't talk about patriotism. It doesn't suit on Southie's. How many sacrificed their lives like a Bhagat Singh or a Subhash Bose
RE:Yuvraj should be the Captain

Spelling of your name says that you are a Southie, who never cooperates with North Indians in any aspect, even when it comes celebrating Independance day abroad. Look at the trophy names, Chodambarm Vadakaam. You guys are always distubing peace everywhere. Indian goverment could not be stern with you. Thanks to Srilankan and Malayasian government for flogging your back.

I am born in South India, Andhra Pradesh, mother tongue is telugu. As for the rest, you can have your opinions, Ranveer. I personally try my best not to affect regional or even nationaliy based biases cloud my thinking. Also most of my friends, which include people from all corners of India and also some other countries, don't think along those lines. If some people in south think along regional lines, and as a retaliation you think every "southie" must be treated "sternly", aren't you guilty of thinking the same way as them? If you really think regionalism is wrong, then what is it that you are conveying by your messages on this forum?

By co-operation I guess you mean doing things the way you want them be done, entirely for your own personal gains - even if it is not in interest for others - and everyone should help you getting them as if the entire world is there only for your service. There is one word in english dictionary that describes your kind of people 'LOSER'. Go get a life dude! and may God bless you and all souls like you!
Gangool to be awarded with life ban from cricket for being such a selfish political mediocre player. Ban this flat pitch hero for the good of this cricketing world.

Mr.Gopal Krishna, you seem to be like a sick child who cries aloud just to get some attention. Since you don't seem to have any ability to understand the game, you think that by writing some nonsense you will get attention to your writings.

Who were the people who were involved in the sikh riots, the khalistan movement, murder of Indira Gandi, hijacking of Air India ? I know you are a Punjabi from your comments as nobody else is capable of writing such stupid stuff. You people are violent and get into fights at the drop of a coin like your neighboring Biharis and UP wallas and you talk about South Indians disturbing peace ? Also ask the westerners who are the terrorists ? They are more likely to point to you than any other South Indian.
Out of Ganguly's 18 hundreds, 8 have come in winning cause against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Kenya, Namibia etc. His lone hundred against Australia the best team was in a lost cause. So 10 hundreds against other teams leaving minnows have come in victory causes.
While Sachin's 6 hundreds against Australia have come in winning causes. Sachin's 9 hundreds out of 29 have come against Kenya, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh etc. So 20 hundreds against rest leaving minnows.
Dravid hasnt scored a hundred against Australia in one dayers. Dravid's 2 hundred have come against UAE and Kenya in winning causes. While 10 of his hundreds apart from those have been in victory causes for India. But Rahul hasnt got chances sometimes to score against minnows cause Sachin and Ganguly would end up scoring hundreds in same games and the number of overs left wouldnt allow a batsmen to score hundreds after that.
Ganguly 41 fifties score in Winning Causes. 14 have come against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland, UAE and Canada Remaining 27 against rest.
Rahul Dravids 47 fifties have come in Winning Causes. 11 have come against UAE, Bangladesh, Canada, zimbabwe and Kenya. Remaining 36 against the rest.
Sachin Tendulkar 51 fifties have come in Winning Causes. 11 came against UAE, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, Canada and Bangladesh Remaining 40 came against Rest.

Oh poor cry baby making excuses for his hero. But your hero ban gaya Zero and is out of the team now. Can't catch up with SRT and SG :)
RE:Some statistics

He he, my favorite is Sachin, i dont like Rahul's batting in TEST, as i feel he is very slow, but then thats what test cricket is about technically correct batsmen. I dont watch Dravid batting in tests at all.
But the Dravid doesnt cry in media like some recently did missing out hundreds.
RE:Some statistics
by Abby M on Dec 16, 2007 04:56 AM
So Sachin is the most utility player for India if India has to win against teams, leaving minnows, followed by Dravid at second place and Ganguly at 3rd place.
Strange even though Ganguly has been top scorer in one dayers in the later part of 90s, Dravid seem to have slowly carved out a niche for himself in one dayers too.
I didn't know he has 10000 ODI runs. How can he make than many runs- he is such a slow scorer. He is also not the god of offside. He must have opened the innings with field restrictions. Maybe dada scored the runs, and the scorer awarded it to Dravid!!

maybe u were just born yesterday.. or lived ur entire life in a village somewhere in Red Bengal, where u did not have any TV or had limited access to uncensored unbiased news
RE:Dravid 10000 ODI runs

U R Wrong. Dravid's strike rate in ODI's is 71 and Ganguly's is 73. Dravid has scored 10485 ODI runs and Ganguly 11363.
