To award Ranadeb Bose for Madhavrao Scindia trophy for taking highest number of wickets in the 2006-07 domestic season is a fuss. Best performer is ignored for consideration of Indian Team. Why BCCI is running domestic tournament after best performer not been consider for Indian Team? They can consider injured Munaf Patel or non-performer like Irfan Pathan as a bowler.

What Surendra says makes sense. Why was Ranadeb Bose not selected if he was the best peformer?

Don't be surprise if his name is withdrawn from the list at the last minute. He has expressed interest in ICL now after having overlooked for Aus series.

That's really sad.

I would like to repeat that BCCI should work together with ICL to spot and garner the real talents.

Again Too much ideal ! Pl forgive me !

Can't understand selection for awards

What about other players in Indian team present or past? Why just the big 3 Sachin, Dravid and Kumble? Sachin has enough money of his own. Why not pay those don't have much?

award for what occupying two young seats and avoiding two young
by pravin sarode on Dec 16, 2007 11:35 AM  | Hide replies

award for what occupying two young seats and avoiding two young from playing test ? viru sehgav also shown poor average still is in the test squad due to undue political influence ? it is shame that the cricketers like LALCHAND RAJPUT, SUHAS CHAUDHARI, AMOL PAGNIS do not get chance to enter test and retire at ranji trophi or even district level and fight hard to make two ends of earning and expediture meet. however rahul dravid gets job in BOB even after poor show well supported by his air force commander father in law, so utimately cricket looses its merit and so is the poor show in test

Award for performing, Indians just love bringing our heroes down. We have Hayden at 37, Gilchrist at 36, Ponting at 33 playing for aussies and nobody complains in Australia. Sachin, Rahul, Saurav, equally consistent performers, for some reason some idiots like u really dont care how well they perform, they just want them out of the side. Learn to respect the performers.

Look gentleman. They are not machines. When they perform with their energy with rsks of facing the bullet speed balls and acrobatics in the field for fielding, catches etc they are bound to get injured because they are made up with bones, flesh and blood! And they get injured for waht?To entertain us and for the sake of country. But some guys like u will question their fitness and consistancy whenever they are getting honoured just by sheer of your jealousness and unpatriotism!

Supporting your country's youth is unpatriotic ?

Fitness was more meant to be ability to run between the wickets, fielding...

No comparison for consistency at all....

Jayachandran's comment on Kannadigas

He only needs to analyse which state has more people of the other. Dr. Narayanamurthy and Neelekani, co-founders of Infosys, are from these states and they seem to get on well. Are there more Kannadigas in Madras or is it vice versa in Bangalore?

Jayachandran Ravi,

Picking on one community to trash is not right. You are prejudiced. You are right though. Kannadigas are very zealous regarding success of others. You have complimented Kannadigas. That is the reason people from other communities settle down in Bagalaore. Do you kow the meaning of zealous? ha, ha, ha!

Board goofs up on award, blames DDCA - TOI Headline

"According to the list, Delhi's talented all-rounder Abhinav Bali, a left-arm spinner and batsman who has been a prolific scorer at the under-22 level for the past two years, has been chosen as the recipient ....But there is one small problem: Bali has since joined the rebel Indian Cricket League and plays for the Delhi Jets team."

Finally they have decided to remove his name from the list !

Is this fair ?

Award is for 2006-07 season and Bali was very much playing for BCCI in that season. If BCCI accept that it is a private body and they mean business only and not concerned about cricket than it is ok.

I think BCCI should tie up with ICL for the betterment of Cricket in India and also to learn "Professionalism". Only giving away money won't do any favor to the cricket. They need to develop some good world class cricketers and ICL is exactly working in that direction....

By the way Bali was selected for this award based on his previous two years performance when he was playing for the BCCI .

It's good to see Mumbai and Karnataka coming together after the whole incident of Dravid getting dropped by Vengsarkar.
It's important for these boards to work together to nullify the politics of Ganguly/Dalmiya.
Ganguly will retire in less than an year anyway and we wont be hearing from these rosogollas about cricket in another fifty years time.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.

What a great shit you are. Check records of Ganguly and Dravid....You will see how big SUSU is Dravid in one day cricket....For your information Dalmiya is no where in scene, he is not even having a place in CAB...Plus you are dumb and blind..or May be you were in Island with no power, no radio, no TV, no news paper for last one year so you do not see & hear Ganguly hitting 50s, 100s, 200s, taking wickets, Dravid was getting clean bowled by mennows and making 38 runs on 120 balls...
DADA, DRAVID, SACHIn have own respective style and greats. But public in some part of country are so regionally biased that they start shitting and eating it too. By the way I am not Bengali who support only. My favourite players are Yuvraj, Kaif, Dhoni, Kumble, Sachin Dravid Dada all...of the...they have done so much for country

RKT and OpenPen...please check your facts the difference between Gangu (average 41.02) and Dravid (average 39.49) in onedays is not as big as u r presuming. But, in tests Dravid's average is much much better than many other current players (better than even Sachin).

Awards for the year 2006-07.
by Cricket Addict on Dec 16, 2007 10:35 AM  | Hide replies

The awards are given mainly for last years' performance. So Saurav's fans have to wait for next year to see their idol hogging the limelight, since his performance this year is better than others, especially in tests. Moreover his 100th test appearance is in the cards.
Yuvraj, Dhoni, and the entire T20 team would be winning the maximum attention, though, it seems.

They do not come in greats as long as bunch of Jokers under JOKER - E - HIND Sharad Pawar remains in BCCI. They have done enough to ruin cricket. Cricket is surviving in India only because of popularity among Indians, thank god playesr performing well and we are winning. But the actions these officials take daily left no doubt that they are keen to bring Indian Cricket to the standard of Indian Hockey
