Under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, India achieved many notable victories!! Beating Australia anywhere is anyday more creditworthy than beating WI in WI!! Also, when we beat WI in WI in 2006, they had become a weak team!! Don't twist facts just to suit you!!
Also, don't forget that this England team is without its frontline seam attack!!
If you say that a captain is only as good as his team, then the same is applicable to Dravid and his personal contribution in this series has not been great!!
Ganguly : 1) Helped India win the series against Australia 2-1 2) Ganguly drew in Australia 1-1 in 2004 3) Team won Natwest challenge in 2002 4) Reached WC finals in 2003 5) Beat Pak in Pak for first time in 2004

ofcourse.. we can not compare Rahul and Ganguly.. as a captain Ganguly is the best.we are winning the test match becase every body is playing.sachin, Ganguly,kartik,jafar,zahir all are peforming.Still Rahul have to do lot's to forget worldcup.

Hi Mohamed, Let us not talk about too narrow conditions. For example, I cant say Ian Bell scored in this match only because Sachin, Saurav and Ganguly were bowling most of the time when Bell was around. But the fact is that he contributed well for the team in the conditions in which he went in. In the same way, let us not talk about who was there when we played. In that case we can never respect some players who never had success against India. Vivian Rechards never played against Roberts, Holding, Marshal and GArner Whereas Vengsarkar did, so can I say Vengsarkar is better than Rechards? There will be lots of if's and but's but the facts remain.

I know it very well that we beat As in 2003 without Warne and McGrath!! But, still the bowling was very potent with Brad Willaims, Stuart MacGill, Brett Lee and Kasprowicz!!

when ganguly was captain there was full cooperation from rahul and he has won matches with his bat but when rahul became captain saurav is struggling to help him.... is that good sports spirit if this then very gr8 saurav is captain who didint perform, whereas rahul atleast is performing

mr. mohd, warne would hardly have made an impact anyway...there was just one team against which he had bad statistics on a regular basis - india! mcgrath? maybe but one swallow does not make a summer anyway and australia was too good to depend on just one man! Dravid or Saurav?Saurav is also cooperating with Dravid,he is more consistent on his return.Saurav also contributed in a good spell as captain.But the Dalmiya politics saw him lose focus and his batting.dravid started well enough but then slipped on the banana peel of the WC.He has again refashioned the team for the future.So both have made good contributions.If India wins this test and the series2-0,Dravid as the captain shd get due credit.

WE REDIFF USERS SHOULD MAKE ALWAYS GOOD COMMENTS. IT IS VERY TO COMPARE THE CAPTAINCY OF SOURAV & DRAVID OR ANY OTHERS. THERE IS NO MEANING IN TELLING THAT WE BEAT AUSTRALIA WITH NO MACGRATH & WARNE. DO YOU KNOW WARNE WENT WICKETLESS AGAINST INDIA IN MANY INNINGS. DOES IT MEAN WARNE IS NOT A GOOD BOWLER. ALL CRICKETORS HAVE UPS AND DOWNS AND THEY CLICK ON THEIR OWN DAY. most unfortunate thing about Indian captaincy is , we never had good captains who innovative strategist, aggressive put together. Ganguly was aggressive without plan. Dravid has neither aggression, doesn't push his players . he expects his players to know their job. then y need a captain ? to call the toss? .
Am I being stupid? no. have you ever seen Indian putting pressure on bowling the way austrlins do. they get into defensive mode unneccsasrily . except Dhoni/Yuvraj. while bowlinbg it is all the more pathetic. u can see how easily opposition scores single against india. it is always the case. take the current test for example. we had 664 runs. where Dravid was setting field for defending instead of attacking. two left handers, sreeshanth bowling inswinger, no forward short leg. ball is swinging, but still stupid zaheer/RP/sreshanth are banging it short. can't dravid ask them to pitch it up and let teh ball do the swings. dreeshanth is gpoing mad , dravid doesn't talk to him. one over , Pietersan has struggled sreesanth. unfortunatley sreeshanth is bolwing no balls. but making batsman struggle. what u get next? he is taken off. any other capptain wyud hv talked to himeset more attacking field . dravid is good batsman. sourav is used make batting looks easy. if at all there was one brilliant captain, it was shastri.

Hi tat, India need not imitate and learn the sledging tactics from Australia. It is dirty part of the game. India has been maintaining decency so far and let it be that way. We can still win the matches by playing well. What Indians need to know and practice is to withstand the crude trickts of Australia and Other such teams.

hemant i completely agree with u.sachin is way past his prime.nd the lowest strike rate among the indian lots is just an example.in fact he never has helped india win a test match outside the sub-continent.he always will remain a good player,a very good player indeed,but he never was nor is a great player.coz great players are those who help their sides win in crunh nd adverse situations.how many times can one recall sachin winning a test match for india single handedly batting with the tail outside the sub-continent.whereas compare the same with dravid and lara.they are true test greats.nd even THE WISDEN agrres with it.coz not a single sachin test innings has figured in the top 100 test innings released by WISDEN.ny comments???

People are not reconciled to seeing Sachin batting slow and steady.They want to see him play in the roaring manner of old.This is the reason he is collecting so much flak.But the fact is nearly 2 decades of cricket has not made it easy to sustain the tempo.He has a choice-go out in a blaze or prolong the career with a slower approach.So long as he does not become inconsistent,we shd not grudge him his choice.

hemant it is not like that ..sachin's was not an ordinary.If he gets out for playing fast then we only say that there was no need of playing fast.I think it was a right game plan by him. We sould not forget that kumble is not making century in every match.that's once after 118 match.SO please think big and enjoy match.

What is the problem if one player scores slow? Was there a situation that Sachin had to score at 5 an over and he didnt do? In a team, each player can contribute in their own way and as long as it helps the team, there is no issue. If Dhoni got out for zero trying for a sixer than all of us would have questioned on why should he hurry in a test match. IF some one plays safely and moved the team to a decent score than we say he played slowly. We need to look at the result rather than on how each and everyone must play. Sachin took a wicket even though he is not a bowler in the first ball of his bowling. Should we ask Kumble to go and learn bowling from Sachin? As a whole it is contribution from the team in all possible ways and India as a team did well in all areas. Let us be happy about it instead of finding ways to criticise one individual.

I DO NOT AGREE. WE CAN NOT CHANGE 11 NEW PLAYERS AT ONCE. PRESENT TEAM IS GOOD WILL OLD PLAYERS LIKE SACHIN, DRAVID, GANGULY, KUBLE AND WITH NEW BLOOD OF KARTHIK, DHONI, JAFFER, SREESANTH ETC. DRAVID, SACHIN, KUBLE SAURAV MAY AT THE MOST PLAY FOR ANONTHER THREE FOUR YEARS AND BY THAT TIME, KARTHICK, DHONI ETC WILL BE HAVING EXPERIENNCE AND WE CAN THEN SUBSTITUTE DRAVID, KUMBLE, SACHIN SAURAV WITH YOUNGER PLAYERS.
