The difference between a great player and a good player is that a great player plays and score even when not in form.

How come any player not in form when he is scoring. Can u elaborate wat u want to say. I think gr8 players are consistent players whose low time is very less like Viv Richards, Sir Don Bradman, Sunil Gavaskar,Martin Crowe

bad decisions
by vishal chavan on Aug 10, 2007 10:55 AM

i feel that most of the bad umpiring decisions goes against India only. in case of peterson, he was called back even though he has cross the boundry line by taking the help of technology but same technology is not being used for Indian players. it is a clear injustice which often comes to the fate of Indian players

Why criticize Sachin?
by vineet mangal on Aug 10, 2007 10:51 AM  | Hide replies

I read few of the comments posted in this forum, cricizing Sachin about his poor play. I want to ask, how many of you have ever played cricket at atleast district level. Well, it is very easy to sit outside and talk, but on field situation is totally different. Moreover, you can't understand the tactics and planning these players have. Everybody in team has its own role and responsibility. I would also say that Sachin played some poor shots and that shows that he was lacking concentration on time, but the way he played most of the time, was just according to the situation and according to the plans. English team also had a tactic and Sachin can't just go and swing the bat. You should also recal, that everybody has its own limitations. How can you forget that Sachins had a lot of injuries and age also a big factor, still it is his determination and great talent that he is still top gun of Indian Team.

Karthik is a good player, but to prove himself, he has to go quite far. There had been a no of players in the past, who performed very well for two or three years, but after that there were forgotten. It becomes more and more difficult to survive in international cricket as you spend more time there, because then with the use of technology, people find out your weakness and plan accordingly.

Difference
by Raman sSubramanya on Aug 10, 2007 10:49 AM  | Hide replies

U could see the difference yourselves.....When Karthik and Dravid were at the crease, the english bowling attack was looking pedestrain......

However, when our Don Brad [Sachin] arrived, he made the English zero bowlers as Heros !!!

Tendulkar has shoulder problem, tennis elbow, he cant bend even and coupled with poor eye sightgets hit on helmet like tailenders........therefore he cant hook or pull the raising balls and takes the blows on his body, which the foolish fans of Tendulkar describe bodyline being bowled to Tendulkar,.......if Tendulkar is as aggressive as Karthik or even Dravid, no one would have hurled short stuff on him.....

Its time the old man retires immediately instead of keeping an eye and aspiring to set a record which no one in the world should break at any time .....This crazy chap has maximum fan following in the country....Wisemen survive on fools faith !!! Its as simple as that !!!!

Hey man... chill out. India have already piled 300. Now they need not worry about the run rate. Just keep building on this score. If India take too much time, Enland will start panicking because they have to win at any cost. And in this desperation they will throw their bat, and will be more likely to get out. Its team's starategy, to go a bit slow.

its easy to stay out and comment .. but they had a plan against Sachin .. To bowl short and kept a fielder close by ..

The situation India were in .. it wud not hv looked nice .. if he wud hv tried hooks and pulls and got out.. coz those are not easy shots to control..

Situation demanded cautious batting and that is what he displayed.. Plz. remember that India shud not lose this match .. Even a draw wud serve the purpose .. & I hope if not a win .. that we at least manage a draw.. but we shud definitely push for a win cautiously..

Chak De India!

Hey Reza

Why are u bothered on "winning" and losing"....why always u guys pray that India should win.........In sports, the team who plays better and positive Cricket should be appreciated....Gone are the days when batsmen drop anchor with a motive to draw or win the games.........Public come to watch real aggresive Cricket no matter who wins or loses !!! but the Indian emotional fan fools cannot love the game.......all they require is India should win !!! Selfish creatures !!!

Hey..

u got me wrong.. I dont mind the better team winning .. but I wud want India to be the better team.. Cricket is not just about 4's and 6's .. It is also about defence .. when required..

Wats wrong in supporting ur country?? If India is winning the series .. it was obviously the better team ..

Public dont just come to watch aggressive cricket .. they are few genuine cricket lovers .. who like to see an equal contest between the bat and the bowl .. I agree that today there mite be more number of people wanting to watch huge scores bein piled on .. but I wud recommend One Dayers or 20-20 matches for them .. Test Cricket is something different .. I hope u agree.

Chak De India!

Taking body blows .. and facing the heat in the middle requires courage n determination .. He is fighting it out thr .. keeping the team in mind ..

I am sure that if he wants.. he can take this English attack to task... but a bit of chance is involved.. and taking chances is not a very good thing at this time for Indian team .. coz we mite lose the initiative ..

as mentioned in the article .. a team like SA has lost the Test after scoring more than 360 in the first day..

We must be cautious..

I dont know .. when Indian Living Legends will be recognised while they are still in action ..

Well Played Sach!

Chak De India

No. I think Sachin is still contributing to the teams success. He is still there with 48. He may even score a 100. He may even accelerate his scoring. Right now he is contributing to the team cause and I wish he continues. But if doesn't perform he should be out like any other player. But who is going to be this gr8 man's replacement? That is a key question to be answered.

Hey Raman..

Answer the questions .. how can the cricket fan's memory be so short lived??

If Sachin wud hv gone after the bowling .. and got out in 20's & 30's .. the nation wud hv been after him .. and if he drops anchor and fights it out .. there are quite a few still after him..

Give this classy player some respect that he deserves!!

Raman,

Do you understand what is short pitch bowling with two close in leg fielders & two leg side boundary fielders? No way Sachin could have pulled or hooked witout getting out . You can't hook or pull every ball for 4 or 6. Hitting and getting out was the most easiest option for him rather than taking body blows on his body & inviting stupid comments from people like you.

His guts & patienece has tired English Fast bowling. Don't just bark like dog.
