More like flop 4. Get rid of this excessively patronized baggage - Indian cricket will be better off ...

What nonsense are you talking? Can you name any outstanding batsmen waiting in the wings who are being deprived by these players? Can you complain about the way the veterans set us up for victory in the last match? Tendukar bashing seems to have become a favourite passtimes....just like Tendulkar worship used to be. Get real......

Can you please get rid of this feedback / discussion board. It is used for racist, sexist comments. It is used as a platform for propogating communal hatred. All it does is get decent people worked up and stir up emotions due to the acts of a few vile mouthed worms.
Do you sincerely think you are contributing to a healthy lively discussion? I sincerely hope you do not reduce your website to a filthy refuge for con-artists and foul mouthed idiots.
I would be surprised if this feature is available for any longer.

On the contrary dear people, such comment boards are needed. In the short run, they inflame passions and mindless idocy like some of the messages here. However, in the longer run, such discussions and messages lead to opening up of the minds of a majority of the people who read them which will eventually root out intolerance from the society. We need to get out of the "Kuwe ke Mendhak" situation and such message boards are a fantastic tool.

Rediff people have gone mad
by bob c on Aug 09, 2007 01:17 AM  | Hide replies

Rahul Dravid played well in second test match he scored 37 and 11* then how can onde say that he is struggling.

And remember he is tha captain who brought series victory in west indies after 30 years and he was the captain woho won a test match after almost 28 years in Pakistan same in australia what other milestones you want from this simple man.

Please don't talk rubbish about Ganguly and Dravid captaincy. Both are different. But all the achievements we got because of Dravid when Ganguly was captain.

Hope he will achieve one milestone on tomorrow. I accept in the world he was not good at all. He should have resigned.

bob - this seems to be the main issue with the Indian cricket. We should judge players by their recent performance. Kumble took 10 wickets in an inninngs abt 10 years back. Does it mean he deserves automatic selection now. Same applies for Dravid or tendulkar.

Harish Kotian proof read your article before posting them
by swisdom on Aug 08, 2007 11:29 PM

Harish you need to proof read your article, especially in this article they are several mistakes like the other guys have pointed out i.e. India won a series in England in 1971 & 1986. The other mistake is "England managed to squeeze home by six wickets, chasing 173 for victory to clinch the three-Test series 1-0". it should be "India managed to squeeze home by four wickets, chasing 173 for victory to clinch the three-Test series 1-0"/

Inaccurate
by Ameet Ubhayaker on Aug 08, 2007 10:17 PM

In paragraph 3, you mention that 1971 is the only time India has managed to win a series in England. This is incorrect. India beat England in England in 1986 under Kapil Dev. On this tour Chetan Sharma captured over 20 wickets in a three test series and Dilip Vengsarkar, our current chief selector - scored 2 centuries - including his 3rd on the trot a Lords. That 86 tour was famous also because India recorded her first test win at Lords then.

Get your facts right

"Also looming the fact is that India, leading the series 1-0, ison the verge of a historic Test series victory at the Old Blighty, something not achieved since 1971, the only time India has managed to win a series in England." India won two series in England till now. One in 1971 as mentioned above, and the 2nd one in 1986 under the captainship of Kapil Dev. Who is this Harish Kotian.....what's he doing here??!! He should check the facts before writing all junk. Only passionate lovers of Indian Cricket should take up this....not just anyone.

I agree this so called cricket expert should be shown the door, he has no right giving his views on Indian team when he is not aware of such a significant part of Indian cricket history. Anyway it is not surprising considering rediff is full with experts like this, who know nothing but run their mouth like a jet ski
